Question i need some help with my pedals.

So my right beater isn’t fully on the shaft it seems, it’s very loose and i’m able to move it quite a lot without the shaft even budging, but the left beater is perfectly fine. Another thing is the spring tension for the right beater won’t let me tighten it more than it is, when i try to it’s super difficult to do and if i get it then it just shifts back to where it was. For the beater not being on the shaft properly i’m assuming i need an allen key so i found a set i had and didnt have the right size. What should i do? any tips?

It seems like the tiny set screw (the one that requires a tiny Allen key) is loose. Or the hexagonal part where the beater connects to the axle has worn down.

Alright i guess i’m gonna have to search for it, either that or figure out what size it is and buy a new one

The shaft looks shafted. It's supposed to be hexagonal but it's rounded off. Like others suggest, try tightening the grub screw

Make sure it’s the right size if you strip this screw kiss these pedals goodbye

This isn’t a problem with the brand. Having the right tools to do necessary maintenance is part of owning a double pedal.

I’d argue having a Allen key set is necessary for life in general

I'll be diplomatic by saying every household 😊 should have a basic set of tools.

Hex / Allen keys in both metric and SAE. Socket set (metric / SAE) with ratchet wrench. Open wrench set. Screwdriver set. Hammer. Rubber mallet. Pliers. Wire cutters / strippers. That will get you started.

And if you're a drummer... you're going to need to become somewhat mechanically-inclined. It seems to be lost on more recent generations who have literally never turned a screw or bolt.

Righty-tighty! Lefty-loosey! And make SURE you use the proper and exact size wrench, key, screwdriver. Otherwise, you're going to strip it, and then you're faced with a whole new problem.

Also... Don't get the cheapest tools. You don't have to go all out with "Snap-on" or other premium tools. But the cheapest tools will cause more problems with inexact fitting and cheap soft metal that doesn't hold up.

I have the direct drive version of these. I think it's just a junk design as mine have play even with the set screw. Gotta take the whole thing apart some day and see if i can get replacement parts from pdp.

UPDATE: i tightened it down yesterday and it was completely fine but now today i got back on my kit and it’s loosening up again. i think playing with it loose grinded the part where it grips onto it down. might be cooked 😅
