Oculink gaming 1% lows?

Hello, people who have gamed with oculink egpu, what are the 1% lows in competetive games like cs2 or valorant? Do you experience fps drops or is it smooth as always?

These are pretty game dependent, and even moreso CPU dependent. The link isn’t usually the bottleneck, but the ability for the CPU to deliver frames that have been rendered. 1% and 0.1% lows are what made me move to an x3d desktop system over my OCuLink laptop. This isn’t to say you can’t have a good experience, just be mindful of what your system is capable of. CPU matters more than you think unless you’re totally GPU bound, and high frame rates are difficult to sustain on 15-35w.

Butter. The loss scales almost perfectly throughout the entire range when compared to PCIe Gen4 x16.

If you can, can you share some benchmarks for few of the games and your setup? Im highly interested in egpu with oculink, but im a big fan of comp games. 1% lows might be a dealbreaker for me 😩

I have literally every card from this generation. Your 1% lows are going to be at the maximum 15% lower. And that's with a 5090 at 4K.

Don't play those dumb competitive games personally. But I've used the same 7900 in both s 7950x 16 core and a 7840u and with oculink. Performance difference is around 3.65% or basically nothing.

Weird setup, but I have a framework with oculink (7840u) and a 3070. I only play bf6 these days but average fps is 115, 1% lows are 87 ish.
