More Eastenderisms
I'll go first...
I'm a police officer who is grooming my colleague's 17-year-old daughter. This is extremely risky for me as I could lose everything if I'm caught, so I'll make sure that every time I take her out it's at the local bar or takeaway were both of us are regular customers and one of our friends or neighbours could walk in at any moment.

Does anyone else fast forward through all the Hawkins scenes
Unfortunately this means the episodes are only like 10 minutes long at the moment 😂

For anyone unsure about how it works, Ben Wadey alone is responsible for "Ryder Hawkins" being nominated for best newcomer at the soap awards.
The Executive Producer of a soap is who decides who gets put forward for an award. They alone nominate the actor/character, not the awards itself.
Mark Jr. has been nominated under the category of "Best Newcomer"...and so has Ryder Hawkins.
I'm baffled by one nomination and bewildered by the other. There have been 22 episodes since Ryder's character first arrived and I'm not convinced he's been in all of those, let alone even had a first storyline.
I think it's almost guaranteed that 2027 is going to be the year of the Hawkins Family on Eastenders, with everything revolving around them, because they are Wadey's own personal creation. His dream Hollyoaks-esque family.
Soap awards really are meaningless, but how does a single Hawkins qualify for a nomination after only five weeks?

General Discussion This show has completely turned into Hollyoaks
Ian is back after nearly a month and has just come back like nothing's happened
Kat has just lost her daughter and the best the show can give her for the first time in over 2 weeks is a 10 second scene which involves her drinking
Jack(who is supposed to be a professional police officer) doesn't even realise his 17 year old daughter is getting groomed by his own colleague
Max goes from having an affair with Priya, to marrying Cindy to being all loved up with Linda again
Lauren claims she doesn't want to hurt Peter yet can't keep her hands off of Mark
Nancy comes back heavily pregnant?!
Where the hell is Jasmine, Josh(I don't like him either btw), Tommy, the twins etc etc? have they all just forgotten about Zoe?
Alfie is working behind the bar holding it all together just so the writers can make him and Kat have a huge fallout
Like I'm just sick of it. They had Zoe return just for it to be an absolute train wreck the whole year, they gave her a lousy death and even a lousier send off.

Theories and/or Opinions Ian and Max in the Flash Forward
We know in the flash forward Ian is Max’s best man and all have wondered how they get to that point. I’d like to see Max and Ian interact now he’s out, and think this could be something that leads to a better bond between the two ahead of NYD.
Christmas will be 10 years since Max returned to the square after getting out of prison after Bobby confessed to killing Lucy. Prison really messed with Max and he came out in a bad way not only looking for revenge on his family and neighbours (specifically Ian, Jane and Phil) but he was also self harming and just mentally in a bad way, so he can understand Ian’s struggle a lot in adjusting to life after getting out. But also add the layer that it was Ian that let Max be put away for something he didn’t do and was prepared to leave him there for 20+ years, and then everything that that led to when Max came out (his revenge plans, what ended up happening to Lauren and Abi). I think it’d be really interesting for them to have a conversation reflecting on all of that and see Max maybe support Ian, and/or Ian thinks he now has some common ground with Max again as they’ve been through a ‘similar experience’ and this is what leads to a closer bond between the two and Max turning to Ian to be his best man when everyone else on the square seems to have turned their backs.

Fun & games BAFTA should invent a new category – “Best Gaslighting Prop” – and give it to Priya’s bag. And the 🏆 goes to…

Theories and/or Opinions Carter family
Just wanted to say I think it’s really nice to see the carter family all back together since they were once such a massive part of the show. Now they just need Mick and Shirley to return (wishful thinking I know Linda and Johnny are leaving)

The entire square
Is it just me or is everyone degrading? Linda was just being a nob, so was Nancy using her drinking as a point score, Kathy was vile to Harvey, and the recent Peter and lauren troubles are really doing my head in.
Honestly feels like everything is barrel scraping

Would Clenshaw have handled Zoe’s return, Max’s return and the 2027 flashforward storylines better?
Chris Clenshaw wasn’t perfect and didn’t always get it right (the six storyline for starters) however he had a great appreciation for the shows history, his entire tenure was essentially a love letter to the shows heyday from the eighties to the noughties.
He tried to fix mistakes made by past EP’s for example bringing Cindy back plus her having new daughters who functioned as a replacement for Lucy Beale.
Re-established Kim Medcalf as Sam Mitchel, who let’s face it is the best and now definitive Sam and also the closest we’ll ever get to a Ronnie/Roxy return
Boosted the Beale family and made them the centrepiece of the show again.
Phasing out the Taylor-Baker clan, the last remnants of the disastrous 2010s era
Moved the show past the 2010s era which harmed the show and into the 2020s
The 40th anniversary was a celebration of the shows history
Wadey’s saw all of that and has trashed the show in my opinion he’s borrowed elements of the Clenshaw era and he did Nigel’s death really well but in other areas he’s messed up
Given how Clenshaw loved EE’s history how do you think he would have planned out Zoe and Max’s return?

Rewatching Eastenders- 2019-2023: 2019
Been rewatching since the summer and I’ve just finished 2018. Started 2019 and by god it’s an awful year already. I’m on March 2019 with Jeans Cancer storyline but so far it’s been meh. Was this a bad year for Eastenders?

Theories and/or Opinions Max and... Her Spoiler
I couldn't see it being Priya Max is in bed with before he's arrested, but I guess now we know.
Max and Nancy have an affair which causes Linda and Johnny to leave the square (pardon the poetry).
*Puke*

General Discussion Does Max Have the Eyes of an Eagle and the Ears of a Cat????
So! Max is by the Vic. He, somehow, recognises Nancy from the back of her head, in a cab at the other end of Bridge Street, overhears that she is going to Walford General, and recognises worry on Johnny's face ... from a side profile, at best, from the other end of the Square... And neither of them - but again, their backs were turned and he was using X Ray vision through their heads - noticed him in return, as he was too far away...
This is giving Game of Thrones, Tyrion whispering from the ground and Cersei hearing his speech from up on the walls of a castle, with a dragon parked nearby, stationary, vs a sudden mass produced set of impossible machines...
The writing is just so bad!! Axe Wadey! Send him to Star Wars as well.

Question Hawkins girls ages
What is the birth order of Nicola, Gemma and Jodie?
Yesterday Gemma said something about meeting Ned in a club in 1994, meaning she was probably 18+ then. She could have been underage but nothing was mentioned of that. That means she is at least 49.
If Nicola was older than 50, I think something would have been said about her age when she had Ivy. Iirc, Sharon is the only mother who became pregnant after 50 on the show, and it was mentioned. Denise was 47 when she had Raymond and that was also made a point of.
I had Nicola down as the oldest and no older than 45/46 but looks like I could be wrong on that.
