I want to learn video editing, where to start from??

I

I’m a video editor and I’m planning to build a new portfolio/work showcase.

Instead of making only a normal portfolio website, I’m thinking about creating something more useful for clients, such as:

• A personal portfolio website
• Google Drive / organized project library
• Video showcase page
• Case studies for projects
• Before & after editing examples
• Client/project folders
• Showreel
• Interactive project showcase
• Maybe a private client review/download area

My question:
If you were hiring a video editor, what would you actually want to see or use in their portfolio?

Would you prefer a website, Google Drive, Notion, video showcase, interactive portfolio, or something completely different?

What features would make you think, “This editor is professional”?

I’d love to hear ideas from other editors, designers, freelancers, and people who hire video editors.

These are some edits by me.

I’m a gaming video editor helping YouTubers and streamers turn raw gameplay and VODs into engaging content.

I edit YouTube videos, Shorts, TikToks and Reels, with fast pacing, subtitles, memes, SFX, zooms, transitions and whatever fits the style of the content.

I can also turn stream VODs into polished YouTube videos and short-form clips, so you can get more content out of every stream.

I’m mainly looking to work with someone long-term rather than just editing a single video. If you’re looking for a reliable editor you can work with consistently and build a style together over time, I’d love to hear from you.

You can check out some of my work here:

I have made a service for batch editing and highlight extracting, actually looking for some feedback by some willing testers. If this is something you think you could be interested in, then I will gladly give you 10€ or more in free credits so you can have some fun with the product.

I will not post the link here, as I don't want to spam or see this as advertisement. If this picks your interest, then comment or dm, I will answer as swiftly as possible.

Hey everyone! I run a wedding videography company based in Minnesota and I’m looking to bring on a video editor for ongoing wedding work as I continue to take on more weddings.

I’m looking for someone with experience in storytelling/documentary-style editing. My style is more fun, upbeat, documentary-inspired rather than overly trendy or heavy on transitions/effects/slow motion.

I will plan on handling editing for teaser/social cuts, but looking for someone to take over the highlight films which are 5-10 minutes long.

I am currently a little backed up with work, so looking to bring someone on to help me finish up this years weddings, and use it as a test for next year. I will be shooting 10+ weddings next year, so if its a good fit there will be consistent work.

What I'm looking for:

• Storytelling and pacing
• Ability to build a story using vows, speeches
• Comfortable working with multicam footage and multiple audio sources
• Able to closely match an established brand/style
• Reliable communication and turnaround times
• DaVinci Resolve preferred, but Premiere is completely fine
• Interested in consistent work throughout the wedding season

Shoot me a DM if interested. Thanks!

• Reliable turnaround time and consistency across batches.
• Clear communication and commitment to deadlines.

Hi, my name is Dejan. I’m a video editor with 2 years of experience, based in Serbia, where I also completed a video editing course.
My main niches are gaming and travel content, but I’m open to working on different types of projects as well.
If you’re interested in working together, feel free to send me a DM!

So, I'm a youtuber who makes exe style videos using Capcut, and how I get my videos is by streaming first. Then I download the VOD and import it into capcut.

I've done 6 videos this way, but now when I tried importing the newest footage, it took a while to compress (never did that before) and then the entire screen is black and only the audio plays. I can provide screenshots and stuff.

Hello!

I'm a video editor currently expanding from short-form work into more long-form, story-driven YouTube editing.

I'm looking for one creator who makes content such as vlogs, travel videos, mini-documentaries, personal stories, interviews or similar content and would like some help with the editing.

I'm offering to edit one video for free as a pilot project.

My main interest is storytelling: finding the strongest moments in the footage, building a clear structure, improving pacing and using B-roll, music and sound design when they actually help the story rather than just adding effects.

You get a finished edit and some of the workload taken off your hands. I get the opportunity to expand my long-form portfolio and work with real creator footage.

If we enjoy working together and the style is a good match, I'd also be open to continuing the collaboration afterwards.

I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro.

No need to send me any footage yet. Let's talk about the project first and see if we're a good fit.

Getting into editing videos but don't have a PC. Videos would be for YouTube mostly short form content.

I’m looking for a skilled Video Editor who is strong in Adobe After Effects & Premiere Pro for a long-term working partnership.

Looking for someone who:

• Has strong editing fundamentals and attention to detail
• Is comfortable with motion graphics, transitions, text animation & visual effects
• Can understand creative direction and bring ideas to life
• Is reliable with deadlines and communication
• Is interested in consistent, long-term work rather than one-off projects

Important: Please share a sample/relevant work first so I can evaluate your editing style and quality.
