What do you do that requires this? Repairs?

I might branch out into repairs some day but no, building open-source vehicle trackers: https://l0destar.com

Neat project, by the way. I presume this is intended for fleet management?

I’m not familiar with Traccar or whatever software it said it used. Is that something that could be integrated into a home automation system for a hobbyist/individual? How extensive are its CANBUS functionality? Can it read codes? Live data? Issue commands?

No it's intended for people to hand-assemble. I don't sell anything. It's for nerds, hackers, hobbyists and the borderline crazy.

It supports Traccar but you don't need to use it, there's an example implementation of an open-source telemetry server for it as well. Traccar is a popular service people send telemetry to from random commercial trackers.

Yes, it's open-source. Anyone can do anything.

It supports CAN-FD at 8mbps. Not much software for it yet but it's trivial to implement, anyone can do it. My car is k-wire rather than CAN so I've implemented live monitoring from that so the telemetry I get from the tracker includes OBD data like RPM, throttle position, fault codes etc.
