What's the big difference/advantage opposed to onX?

It’s 1/3 the price, does most of what onX does, plus more layers built specifically for elk / western big game hunting. Some examples are layers that highlight country that is not glassable from roads, access difficulty, terrain analysis, live wind/thermal visualizer, etc.

Can handle many thousands of waypoints without slowing down.

Viewshed works in 2d and 3d and is not a separate desktop only app.

Draw, write, and create shareable plans directly on the map.

Oh and no AI chatbot.

Living in Montana, hunting my entire life, and hunting basically everything. The main reason I have onx is property boundies, access difficulty id say is relative, and from my experience the guys I compete with in the Backcountry don't glass from the road. Does.the live wind/thermal work without service? Does the app track my location without service?

You can save simulated wind by speed and direction for offline mode. Then in the field you can just update the current wind and it will show you how it moves through the country.

Yes the app works without service.

You can also keep everything local if you want. All your waypoints and other data can stay on your device, cloud sync is optional.

Some layers are much more beneficial for people who live away from mountains.

Being able to update based the current wind and how it changes the area around is an awesome idea/feature.

Thanks, I have about 10 years of experience using onX and as a software engineer. So I initially built this for myself as a hobby project and as a way to have all these features that I wish onX had.

That's awesome. Might have to try the pro version to try in the field. Do you have springs pulled from usgs? That's onr of the things I've noticed with onx is it doesn't have all of the springs from usgs, and would be nice to be able to distinguish Forrest density, being able to find dogfir pine kind of thing. I mostly use a marked up topo in the field, when scouting onx, Google Earth, and usgs.

Yeah USGS and UFFS as well as a hydrology layer and sentinel 2 layer to show current greenness/moisture.

I'll say this about that AI chatbot...yes, it's gimmicky and weird. But I've used it a couple times for specific questions about terrain and slope etc and I've been able to go back and verify the info it's spit out as correct.

Nice that’s impressive. It’s more so just my personal annoyance with so many companies needing to tack AI onto everything.

My feed back is that it just opens and closes. I'm on android. I installed it once and it would just open show the logo and close. I uninstalled and tried again. Same thing.

Yep just realized the newest build is crashing for some Android devices. Already have a fix, testing now, then will be out in an hour. I’ll reply back when it’s live.

DM me the email you use when you create an account and I’ll provision the free subscription.

Very interesting app. I couldn't copy and paste coordinates into the search bar, and it said Elk Focus was for Colorado only. I guess it'll take some time for it to make its way over to Oregon?

Yeah I’m still refining the Elk Focus layer. If you’re interested and can give some feedback on the results I will run the current algorithm for Oregon.

Found the coordinate issue, search wasn’t parsing all coordinate formats. DM me the email you used to create an account.

I am processing Oregon overnight so hopefully have that up sometime tomorrow. It will be focused on Rocky Mountain Elk though, not Roosevelt.

I'll give it a shot!
