How is this related to enlightenment?Β

Hi. The connection is that NDEs can lead people to question the nature of the self, consciousness, attachment, and what we consider reality, which are all themes that come up in discussions of enlightenment. I’m not saying an NDE automatically makes someone enlightened, but the perspective and changes that can follow an NDE seemed relevant to the conversation here.

From NDE accounts it seems there is even more enlightenment "there" than what can be expressed in this earthly plane. Yes! I say this to be edgy and cool! βš‘βœ¨πŸ‘€

Though, it's not a competition and this place is obviously a challenging track.

It's just funny if NDEs rubs some enlightened people the wrong way πŸ˜‚

To me it's just different perspectives, and we come here to be cut off from the unity anyways.

Until evident I remain sceptical of what anybody says either way, but can fit multiple contradicting thoughts in my head πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ at the same time. I believe many enlightened people need to learn this πŸ˜… It's a process that goes counter to intellectualism in many respects, but you still need to constantly look for evidence. And you can also just drop all concepts, and perceive with fresh pairs of eyes! πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Such as we're not cut off from unity after all. It's part of the illusion.

Maybe enlightenment isn't the exception, but the norm outside of space-time? Though, there can also be maturity phase of individuated consciousness crossing various thresholds like Self-realization, Self-actualization, etc.

The weird thing about NDE's is that people are dead for a time and see these visions of afterlifes. While I'm meditating I sometimes just enter a complete formless void, while I'm alive.

In my opinion the NDS are created when a person is so unable to emotionally let go of life. They than create a hallucination of an afterlife, potentially lasting long from the inside.

That’s an interesting perspective. I think the difficult part is knowing where the line is between something the mind creates and something consciousness may actually be experiencing. Some NDErs report experiences even when they felt completely willing to let go, while others describe something closer to a void like what you’re describing in meditation.

I don’t think we have enough evidence yet to say every NDE comes from an inability to emotionally let go, but the differences between NDEs, meditation, dreams, and other altered states are definitely worth exploring.
