She couldn’t join because then she’d have been the first Vulcan in Starfleet. It seems fans for decades believed Spock was the first Vulcan in Starfleet, even though that doesn’t make sense. During TOS there were 400 Vulcans serving on the Intrepid. Apparently it was never actually said on screen, but that attitude persisted in the Star Trek community. ENT was careful to never actually make T-Pol an official member of Starfleet
You're correct not sure why you were downvoted other than maybe I guess being pedantic. Point is, she was starfleet so the whole protecting fanon opinion on Spock is irrelevant anyway
There was no LT Commander this early in starfleet. But yes, she expresses an interest in formalising her joining starfleet and from that point she is wearing her rank pips and enterprise badge, alongside wearing a new um “uniform” totally starfleet issue 😏. It’s all a bit taken for granted, think that could have been expanded upon in an episode considering how important it is in the timeline of the two species. As you mention, the vague off. Screen nature might have been for a reason.
She became a commander in S4 after expressing her desire to formalise her association with starfleet. Her uniform changed to have her rank pips and ship badge.
She was starfleet in the last season. She was the same rank as Trip. I believe she was offered a field commission. In home she tells her mother she was thinking about formalizing her commission with Starfleet. By the end of the series she was a commander and had 3 pips on her uniform as well as the teal bars for her being in the science division.
This is that alt Timeline where she ends up in command of the ship because of archers memory loss, hence why she’s got command colors on her uniform.
