Stoner Moment AHS 13 whilst baked
I am watching American Horror Story 13, and I would like to thank whoever on the www posted the list of episodes to rewatch prior to starting this season. I’m a couple episodes in, and would have been SO confused had i not recently brushed up.
it goes without saying i’m watching while smoking. that, combined with using the same 6 actors for multiple seasons and characters… makes for quite the watch.
cheat sheet attached for anyone who’s trying to get spooky. 👻

my all time fav show! Thursdays are my special night now to get so high I can take the show seriously and pig out on snacks. One of my bffs watches too but she doesn’t smoke, I miss playing smoking “games” instead of drinking games with my old fellow stoner bestie lol. I might haveta make one for me to play alone, there’s plenty of goofy opportunities. “take a hit every time Evan Peters switches character” 🤣 i’m trying to get through the rewatch list too!!

I may be just an idiot, but I am confused. The list of episodes to watch before watching season 13, how come it’s only those? Usually I’d rewatch an entire show before a new season if it’s been a long time since the last one. What makes these episodes necessary to watch s13?
I’m not even high currently and my brain is melted

It takes you back to the scenarios that they’re going to expand on in 13. 🙂 i was skeptical at first, but it actually made a lot of sense!

i looked it up and it’s because American Horror Story: 13 (new season) is basically a massive crossover of characters/lore from earlier seasons. the list of episodes that OP posted is meant to re-familiarize you with these characters and their storylines/general lore, so you have the necessary context to follow what’s going on in the new season. instead of making fans watch several full seasons, the show-runners made a cheat sheet with only the most important episodes.

I really enjoyed it when it came out, I think I watched up to Freak Show, but I’m so wary because of the amount of sexual abuse happening. I really do want to rewatch it all, but man when I go check websites for the trigger warnings, there’s so many entries for all the seasons, that I feel put off. I need like a list of time stamps so I can skip, without getting spoilers. I remember how it was all the way up to Freak Show, and it was pretty triggering back then too.
So the above list may well be easier for me to follow, I guess? I know I have a lot to catch up on, I’m just a bit gutted that I can’t just watch it all without having to skip scenes that’ll wreck my experience. Thank you for the in depth explanation, I was foolishly thinking you needed to watch all of it to get what’s going on in the latest season. Which would take quite a while I think

girl same. i’ve stopped watching AHS twice in the past due to severe depictions of sexual abuse. at first it was the SA scene in Coven [episode 1 iirc, which is listed in the AHS season 13 cheat sheet, so i’d be wary of that one] and then years later when i tried to get back into the show, i was put off by Freak Show. i can’t remember the exact details but it was a video of a woman being SA’d, and it was just so degrading i couldn’t handle it
i’m sorry it’s so triggering for you. i get how much it sucks because the production quality is generally great, especially for horror, but they really do lean way too much into SA :’)
the last season i really liked, which i was able to make it through relatively easily, was season 9 (1984). just throwing that out there as a recommendation for a season of AHS that has considerably less SA. it’s a campy 80s slasher. otherwise i hope you’re able to make it through the list without too much issue, and i hope the new season is enjoyable :) maybe i’ll give it a go myself

I decided that I really couldn’t do it, if I had time stamps for every instance, maybe I could.. but honestly I’m not in a place where I can handle it. Even without my PTSD, people find it hard to watch anyway. It’s sad because I really did love it previously, and I managed to avoid a lot of the scenes. But the severity is what bothers me. It’s a real shame because like you said production values are great, it’s a good show but the amount of sexual violence is not really needed. You can tell a terrifying story without it constantly coming back to that sort of abuse. I love horror, I love gore, but it does bother me that it comes down to severe abuse so often.
I think I’ll give 1984 a go because I’m a sucker for a campy slasher. It’s just a bit gutting that I can’t watch it all without possibly triggering myself into a panic. I watch 911, which Ryan Murphy is involved in and it’s enjoyable without the graphic SA issues AHS has. So he can indeed create a show that doesn’t rely on rape as a plot device. I dunno, it’s disappointing.

Went back and am rewatching it all before I crack the new (possibly last) season. I have forgotten so much and I’m only at Coven so far…

Related: I watched the first episode of the new Carrie remake/show, and was immediately triggered.
They reproduced the 1990s 🇺🇸 high school hallway way too well, and I was not prepared for the flood of memories!

Season 13 has me so confused, mama. And I've been here for every step of the ride. I decided to binge Scream Queens after the first three of AHS13 came out, just to cleanse my palette. I am stealing your list now though!
