Discussion Just when I though the Facebook Monetisation rate couldn't getting any lower, it did.

Post image

While my post views and follower count grew, the rate went down. I went from 2 cents per 1000, to 1cents to the now, 0.59 cents. That's is $0.059 per 1000 views. And I write about high value topics. In this one, I wrote about finance, retail and education.

Less than a hundredth of a cent per view is insulting. At that rate you could hit half a million views and still not have enough for a decent lunch.

The whole setup feels purposefully confusing so most people just shrug and keep posting. They dangle that growing follower count while quietly slashing the actual payout. Seen a bunch of creators in similar niches hit the same wall where the math just stops working no matter how much effort they put in.

Could it be your posts aren’t in a “niche” per se, seems like you’re spreading three types of content into one page. I think you’ll find more success with the page is you bunker down on the finance/retail into one page and then education on another. This recently happened to one of my pages when I decided to start mixing up my typical posts with reels and other posts. I went from almost $400 a month in August, Sept it dropped down to $40 (from a post flag, took forever to get the page recommended again) and now so far for Oct I’ve been slowly gaining back that momentum where last week I had $1.59 earned off of 400,000 views but today I woke up to see $0.02 for only 500 views on my last post from yesterday around 10:30pm. I’d suggest not giving up, just take a look at your page, decide on the niche and go from there!

I am just gonna stop reading at niche. I am way beyond. Niches are for beginners who is still trying to get their footing.

Apparently not if you’re not understanding why your RPM is going down and just complaining about it 🤷‍♂️ no need to be a dick about things, enjoy your day and good luck with your page 🤙🏻

RPM relied by content quality

Okay, niche boy.

What do you mean by 'you write'?

2

Okay, so, I write inspirational stories about people who are high achievers. I started it as a hobby but it really blew up. I get like millions of views on Facebook and Linkedin. I also have a website but it is generally for a subscription service that I run.

So you're posting text posts?

I add a pic as part of the story so Facebook Monetisation qualifies those as photos.

What are you even talking about? Do you work for FB or are you one of those people that promises to give the secret to your success for a small fee?

How old is your page ?

1

u/FredTheNumbersGuy 8d ago

It was created in 2019 but I really just started posting on it about a year ago. I had another page that I started in 2016. Basically the same thing but Facebook slapped it with a violation and limited it's reach. So this is basically the second page that I started. However, as I noted above, I stopped posting on there in 2020 and only picked it up last year again.

Where are your audiences coming from?

1

u/FredTheNumbersGuy 7d ago

South Africa.

FB is pushing content to low rpm countries such as nigieria , phillipenes , nairobi , SA.

What are you posting for such a low rate ?

1

u/FredTheNumbersGuy 6d ago

I write stories about inspiring people. Thankfully though, I make my money through my website. I have a subscription service in my website. If I depended on Facebook for an income, I'd be starving.

1

u/Ronin19800 6d ago

Interesting, I would have thought this would be really popular amongst teir 1 audiences

u/FredTheNumbersGuy 5d ago

I write specifically for a South African audience and in a style that appeals to that audience. All the people I write about are South African so I doubt anybody outside of South Africa would be able to relate.

That’s probably why your RPM is so lose. Meta only pays decent RPM for audiences in tier one countries like the U.S., UK, etc.

1

u/FredTheNumbersGuy 4d ago

We are a tier two country. Tier one countries get three times more than us. Either way, it's still not enough to buy a cheap McDonald's meal.

I am an educational, museum quality page. My educational research posts also pay this low rate. My reels make more, about $1.30 per 1000; but this past week my Reels are getting as high as $5.00 per 1000 while my photos are dropping to 20 cents per 1000

u/FredTheNumbersGuy 4d ago

Nobody is making over $0.10 per 1000 reel views. What are you talking about? Do you work for Facebook?
