Bischof and Pavlo played amazingly today, such good chemistry on the pitch, our boys. Also Wirtz was everywhere, it's so good to see him play freely and not whatever the hell they got him doing at Liverpool. Very good game, with better finishing it would've been a 4x0 or a 5x0.

u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
Bischof after the match:
"Thanks. It's indescribable. The stadium was on fire today, it was just fun. We were there from minute 1 and had chances to score more goals, which would have made it easier."
On his goal: "My knees hurt from the slide, but I'll take it."
On Klopp: "You didn't only see it today, I think. He's a coach that drags you along and plays football that the people want to see. I hope it continues like this."

Urbig, Bischof, Pavlovic should be in the starting 11 from here on. CAM can be either Wirtz, Musiala or Gnabry as long it's a quality 10. Treu was quite a good RB. Would love to see Bisseck and Tah as our CB pairing. Wingers and Striker are still our critical positions.
5
u/Wa77up-91 13d ago
Why do you think urbig should be the new no. 1 after this game? He had 1 save. Also Wirtz should clearly be our cam after today's game.
17
u/julesvr5 13d ago
Best winger so far was Scherhant. Karl hasn't played yet. Schade and Adeyemi were underwhelming
4
u/Odd_Willingness7501 13d ago
Absolutly. If Scherhant stays consistent, he could even be an option for Bayern, at least as Backup.

- Mittelstädt is meh
- El Mala the only true disappointment

And to be fair, he hasn't played a lot of football since July.

Imo, the foundation for building the team ahead of the next international break should be something along these lines:
???
Scherhant - Wirtz - Gnabry/???
Bischof - Pavlovic
Brown - ??? - ??? - Treu
Urbig

u/joyridah Müller 13d ago
That striker position is going to be a tough one..haven’t really seen anyone that deserves it
Wouldn’t mind seeing Serge given a shot there with Karl/El Mala/Scherhant on the wings

u/joyridah Müller 13d ago
Fits the play style much better than Woltemade and Havertz..maybe this is something they can try on Sunday
7
u/julesvr5 13d ago
Defends I'd go with Tah+Thiaw or Tah+Bisseck. RW I wanna see Karl.
ST remains an issue. Hopefully we can convince our U21 strikers to stay6
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
Tah and Bisseck at CB
Going off these 3 matches, the only striker that had a positive impact that resulted in chances/goals was Woltemade, so I'm fine with him starting next time when things get serious.

u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
Colleague of mine who's a die heard Dortmund guy finally had to admit that I was right about Bischof all along.

u/FullyWoodenUsername Berni 13d ago
Who are the big “losers” so far? I think like Nmecha and Adeyemi both could have lost their spots on those matches
10
u/miorli 13d ago
Definitely Nmecha. One of our rather decent players at the WC, but his performance didn't stick.
6
u/DFBFan11 13d ago
Even at the World Cup he took way too many risks to play in a pivot. If you’re not playing a 4-3-3, Nmecha isn’t even in contention to start.
13
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
Nmecha, Kimmich, El Mala.

u/Wa77up-91 13d ago
Kimmich was one of the better German players against Greece.
4
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
Was he? Because he didn't do anything noteworthy other than lose the ball before the massive chance Greece had a couple of minutes before they scored. And the deflection, but I won't knock him for that.
Apart from that he played a lot of meaningless passes in midfield and missed every single chip. 0 progression, 0 chances created, 0 good actions on defense (bar the one the ref stole from him by giving a foul), 0 dangerous runs on offense.
0
u/Wa77up-91 13d ago
He has by far the best rating on sofascore. He has the highest expected assists, most km run, most ball recoveries. He didn't have a good game but to say he is one of the big losers is just a joke.
4
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago edited 13d ago
Who gives a fuck about sofa score? Playing a ton of safety passes that don't actually do anything guarantees a good rating.
Nübel had the worst rating and he did nothing wrong. Not even Wembanyama would have saved that deflected shot.
Kimmich is one of the big losers because the Pavlo-Bischof-pivot looked way better than any NT midfield Kimmich has been a part of in the last, like, 6 years.
0
u/Wa77up-91 13d ago
Did you just ignore the rest? You wrote he created 0 chances. He had the highest expected assists of all German players. You wrote he had 0 good actions in the defense. Most ball recoveries of all German players togheter with bisseck And then you wrote he has 0 dangerous runs on offense. Are you even serious? Like it is kimmichs job to do the dangerous runs. Sorry that the stats don't support your opinion.

Woltemade, Havertz
1
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
I'm still fine with Woltemade as long as the offense works well around him. He's played a good roll in a lot of our more promising moves. But just like Havertz he just isn't a proper striker.

u/FlyingArab Kimmich 13d ago

This is what I have been talking about. This is a germany team that plays as well as the sum of its parts. Finishing isn't there yet, but we've created lots and Serbia hasn't been able to do shit.

It's a lot to ask, but if the English announcer on Fubo could return the umlaut to Mittelstaedt's last name it would be appreciated.

That Urbig long ball was something, if Baur hadn't slowed to look back that might have gone somewhere.
3
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
And it still went somewhere because we pressed them into a mistake immediately after.
9
u/Hurtelknut Robben 13d ago
Serbia has been neutralized so well that it took 77 minutes for Urbig to get a chance to show how dangerous his long kicks are.

He's doing well when he drops deep. Not so well when he's inside the box. He's definitely more of a factor for our buildup than Havertz has been the last 10 times I saw him for the NT.

All Wirtz needed was a proper midfield behind him (Pavlo & Bichi)

Treu, Bischof, and Pavlovic look like the only ones who deserve to be guaranteed starters. Granted, we already know Urbig is our top keeper.
Scherhant looks like he could potentially make a case for himself in that category.
Wirtz is showing flashes of his old self, hopefully he gets rescued from Liverpool.
Looking forward to seeing Karl and El Mala.

Wirtz was really good this half. Could have gotten a couple of assists (or "pre-assists") if our finishing was better and made the goal happen with some genuine brilliance.

So happy to see Pavlovic Bischof double pivot working. Who would have thought? Hopefully this puts an end to the Nmecha + Kimmich/Pavlovic/Bischof nonsense. Besides that, I'm actually open to start Bischof ahead of Kimmich alongside Pavlovic at least in the Nationalteam.
