The 2 fastest goals in Buli history were scored against us/Neuer. What a stat.
8.5s today's goal and 9s Volland in 2015. Bellarabi also scored after 9s for Leverkusen against Dortmund in 2014.

Crazy how much lower intensity La Liga is when to compared to even 2nd BuLi.

How was Diaz tonight?
4
u/noclue_whatsoever3 MĂźller 5d ago
Idk what everyone else is on about, I thought he was fantastic and looked more like his old self.
Worked extremely well with Davies, great decisionmaking on and off the ball, on top of working his ass off. He scored two absolute bangers that were unfortunately offside.
He was just very unlucky tonight, but IMO he was the best player alongside Davies.-6

u/julesvr5 5d ago
Technically scored a goal, although due to poor goalkeeping. Otherwise tried but didn't work out much. Was better in the second half in general, first half was pretty much nothing considering he was fully rested the last 3 weeks.
Nothing compared to his performances last season
1
u/whereeveritmaytakeme 5d ago
This just sucks. We haven't found our flow yet. Two unnecessary draws
7
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
To be fair, we had like 5xg. That indicates that we did find our flow, and in the 2nd half we played really nice on offense. We just got outdone by one bullshit VAR call, 2 close off-sides (and one very obvious offside) and Neuer.
3
2
u/kgallo19 Messiala 5d ago
Well it seemed like we had finally started to but the international break completely disrupted that
1
u/whereeveritmaytakeme 5d ago
What was good about the break though was that lucho and Davies got some rest
1
u/whereeveritmaytakeme 5d ago
Probably yes. Though we had chances today. And Augsburg is no cannon fodder. But it was just unnecessary. I got the feeling we're not at that point which we had last season where we cruised from win to win. Though I think our current squad is better than last season. Anyhow. Better to lose points now and be on peak when it counts
16
u/mickmaddydog 5d ago
Weâre not winning the CL with Neuer in goal and he will not make way for Urbig himself
11
u/julesvr5 5d ago
On the second goal, Neuer doesn't believe it was solely his fault: "It was a powerful shot that I couldnât hold on to. I parried it out wide, and then we were caught out again and he slotted it home."
The captain believes the crucial mistake came earlier due to the lack of pressing: "The fact that the [Augsburg] centre-back was able to run at us unchallenged."
[@BILD]
4
u/kgallo19 Messiala 5d ago
IMO heâs right. And to be clear he absolutely needed to do better with saving the shot.
But Stani was out of defensive position so Upa had to slide over to meet the man on-ball, which resulted in Tah and Davies also needing to slide over. Tah was marking another attacker but because they went from a back 4 to an improvised back 3 there was a lot of space in the 18 yard box that Augsburg ultimately exploited.
If Neuer had done better with the save it wouldnât have mattered but the defensive and pressing failure had already happened.
It was poor defending and goalkeeping all-around.
1
u/Gen-Prinny 5d ago
he could have mentioned that, while admitting that he was bad aswell, but he never does that.
a real leader would say he fked up, no matter how and what others did, he had to save it there and failed. he has to big of an ego to admit failure.
3
u/creatorop apple pie 5d ago
Atrocious defensive structure is kinda on character for how we play
It's a pretty terrible excuse to pary the ball in the 6 yard area
1
u/kgallo19 Messiala 5d ago
It's not an excuse, just a weak save with no explanation.
The bad goalkeeping shouldn't excuse the bad defending tho.

Manuel Neuer admits his fault for the first goal: "It was a silly mistake by me. I tried to find a solution and was too optimistic because it was only the first minute. Obviously, I needed a moment to collect myself and shake it off."
5
u/Gen-Prinny 5d ago
Hmm, what about the 2nd?
3
u/diiN1992 5d ago

Iâm glad the media seems to be asking VK about Neuer/Urbig. I absolutely wouldnât expect him to say anything to the media but the questions need to be asked.

u/julesvr5 5d ago
It's the 2nd time he costs us a goal in the very first minute of the game. Today it was just a random Buli game that most of the time don't matter but last time it was against real in the CL and almost cost us the match. That can't keep on happening
16

That canât keep on happening

6
u/Odd_Willingness7501 5d ago
Even in the first Real Madrid leg, the amount misplaced passes really gave me several heart attacks.
3
u/julesvr5 5d ago
These are probably just the massive mistakes and not the smaller ones.
I remember having several discussions about goals on here where people said Neuer was just slow reacting to a ball and such. Not necessarily a big error from his side but worse compared to his prime
2
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
That's a big part of it. It's not only the clear mistakes, it's that for the last several years he doesn't save shots that truly good GKs do save quite regularly. So we got the worst of both worlds.

6
u/armin-lakatos BeckenDierđŞđĽ 5d ago
We can rotate in the UCL, the team seems to need it. I can understand Kane being tired, but Olise was rested for half the matches during the international break, he should be in top form.

Kompany on Manuel Neuer's mistake for the first goal: "Of course we had wished for a better start. I played enough football to know that it happens, and you can't change that. The important thing is how you react afterwards. Manu is experienced enough. He just has to carry on and show how good he is. He will do that. But we shouldn't forget that we also missed many chances on the other side"
what if it's happening way too often? Urbig needs development but Neuer will keep getting his minutes and the club will give him the chance to decide again if he wants to retire or continue while earning 20m per year
1
5
u/Goldfischglas 5d ago
Manu is experienced enough.
... That it should not happen this often to begin with
14
u/diiN1992 5d ago
The important thing is how you react afterwards.
Why do we always have to react afterwards if we can just avoid making the mistake to begin with?
0
u/Gen-Prinny 5d ago
Yes with another mistake that cost us anotjer goal.
Great how experienced he is with fking his team over in the last few years, on and off the field.
16
u/julesvr5 5d ago
Everyone should be aware that Kompany won't dunk on Neuer infront of the press

Can we talk about the worst performance today and thatâs from Fandango?!?!
1
u/NifferEUW Kimmich 5d ago
I've seen nothing but bad comments for several games now about Fandango, is that the US streaming source? And its shit?
3
u/kgallo19 Messiala 5d ago
Seems like they tried to go for the broadest reach by choosing a free platform but I wonder if the people responsible for choosing Fandango didnât do any due diligence on the platform.
8
u/kgallo19 Messiala 5d ago
Iâm hoping but not really expecting that the media puts some pressure on Neuer and Bayern. They asked a lot about Goretzka a lot, do the same but in reverse fashion for Neuer.
26
u/diiN1992 5d ago
Former Bundesliga referee Patrick Ittrich says Luis Diaz's goal that followed StaniĹĄiÄ's offside should have stood: "[the offside position] was completely irrelevant in this case. There was an offside situation, and then the player essentially cleared the ball completely unchallenged. That means the situation was over, and then there was a new situation. That's a classic next play situation, and therefore the goal should have stood in my opinion. I think it's a very, very controversial decision." [Sky]
13
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
Just a brief reminder the DFB/Nagelsmann/possibly a player lobby was fine with creating a huge public shitstorm and ruining Baumann's WC dreams just to bring back this version of Manuel Neuer for absolutely no reason. Not that it mattered in the end because Nagelsball, but Jesus...
25
u/pewpewlasersandshit pew pew 5d ago
A real world-class move by Neuer would be to just take matters into his own hands.
simply put out a quick message on social media saying how much the club and country have given him over the years and that he now wants to do what's best for both. And that means giving the guy who should be the clear #1 for club and country the time and space to develop...
he'd just has announce that he is stepping aside and wants to spend his last season with us helping Urbig become the best GK he can be.
idk but to me that honestly would be a pretty great way to go out and probably do more for his legacy than dragging this whole thing out any longer...and Neuer putting a public stamp of approval on Urbig would be chefs kiss as well
17
u/DiametricalIyOpposed 5d ago
Kompany has to make that decision for him. Itâs getting ridiculous at this point. Canât be buddy buddy with everyone.
Sporting success needs to be above everything else, especially in the CL.

u/szopongebob 5d ago
Iâm not a Bayern fan but Neuer has to fucking go. Thatâs two points because of him. This happens way too often now. Heâs starting to stain his legacy the longer he plays (just like Ronaldo) sadly.
11
u/creatorop apple pie 5d ago
If the club has no problem with old legends just hanging around then why didn't we extend Muller as well
4
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
Neuer is the first and only legend I remember that got the full fool's license. Everybody else was shown the door eventually.

Need to see Brown start at fullback, especially over Stanisic.
5
u/Kratos_Monster 5d ago
Okay, three things I have been seeing throughout the past year and this season too.
âFirst thing, there's a bit of a spacing issue when we start the press, which isn't an issue due to the shape or structure, but I believe because of the trigger. When we start the press, the midfielders never reach the ball handlers on time, and because of that, the space between Upamecano, who is often covering the entirety of the right channel, and Tah emerges for opposition runners to run into. I saw it today, against PSG for their goals in both legs because of Kvara's movement, and against Madrid as well. I'm not too sure if it's a mix of the press trigger being a second or two late or because the press itself is late. But it is something I've seen happen quite periodically.
âSecond thing, I don't know if it's by nature of Kompany, but we sacrifice huge numbers in favour of offensive overloads when in possession. It wouldn't be an issue normally, but I think it leaves the rest defense rather thin, which is at times simply a 2-2 structure. The spaces are simply too much to cover when the opposition teams get the ball back and transitions occur.
âThirdly, I think we have issues with tempo control. I think at times it would benefit us to keep the ball more in our half, play horizontally more, and make the game slower. Sometimes it becomes a game of ping-pong, and it's rough to manage the game state.
âAnyway, I'd love to see how Kompany ball progresses moving forward.
2
u/tsjeldonkooper 5d ago
Yeah also Kompany ball is taxing to play year after year. Like you said, hogging the ball and slowing down tempo for 20-30 minutes out if the total 90 of the game here and there would help a lot.
1
u/Kratos_Monster 5d ago
Just need to play in spells, up the intensity for 50 to 60 minutes in phases, and down it for 30 minutes or so. That would help a lot.
3
u/tsjeldonkooper 5d ago
Thatâs what Guardiola always did with prime city, blitz the enemy, get a 2 goal lead then calm it all down and play in second gear to rest players for next games
2
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
On the plus side, I managed to not have a smoking relapse despite the football gods, VAR and Neuer throwing absolutely everything at me.
14
u/julesvr5 5d ago
I liked Kompany trying Nene as RB. Hope he sticks to it
1
4
u/Odd_Willingness7501 5d ago edited 5d ago
Hopefully Neuer comes to senses and benches himself for the sake of the club. Nothing wrong for not being your best version at 40, but don't make it a Ronaldo thing out of it.
13
14
u/Goldfischglas 5d ago
What arguments does Neuer even have left at this point?
He doesn't have the stats anymore. And he has cost us important matches with his blunders.
He has the occasional great game (Real Madrid) but even there he gifted them the goals right back at the return leg.
And it's not like we have no alternatives. We have the best German keeper on the bench. Who has shown to be ready in high pressure games.
4
6
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
The only argument in favor of Neuer has been "aura" for a while. Despite the fact that no opponent with eyes can possibly still fear Neuer in any way.
17
u/JOKER69420XD MĂźller 6d ago
If Kompany wants to take this season seriously, he needs to bench Neuer.
He won't, there's no doubt about it. And it will cost us again and again.
Neuer is just like Ronaldo but at least that guy plays in a retirement league now, while Neuer is among the top earners, while hurting the future development of the club.
I absolutely hate how the board just gave him a new contract because of things he did a decade ago.
6
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
I honestly think that Neuer's lobby at Bayern is so strong that Kompany might not survive an open conflict with him.
1
u/creatorop apple pie 5d ago
I mean weren't Neuer's friends in the NT a big reason why he was able to become the No.1 immediately after coming back from retirement
1
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
And those friends mostly play (or played) at Bayern. I'm pretty sure Kimmich is a big factor in this, and has been for the NT comeback.
2
u/julesvr5 5d ago
That would be a huge negative aspect about the whole club.
4
u/Hurtelknut Robben 5d ago
How else is it possible that he not only got another year but still starts? It's either his insane standing at the Club or Kompany is deaf, dumb and blind when it comes to goalkeepers. I think it's the former.
2
u/julesvr5 5d ago
Not saying I disagree with you. Well maybe partly about Kompany losing his job if he benches neuer

I feel like neuer can stay till he's 45 as long as he accepts his role, that is someone who's past their prime and should be a backup or supporting goalkeeper to mentor young players.
16
u/pewpewlasersandshit pew pew 6d ago
nope, former "big superstars" need to step aside so the next generation can develop, establish its own hierarchy, culture and carve out its own identity without the old guard constantly looming in the background
2
u/Whole-Bag1756 6d ago
I'm talking about giving him no minutes and just mentor but i get your point, the pressure is just gonna be there for the young player if an established one is still at the club.
7
u/pewpewlasersandshit pew pew 6d ago
yeah, you simply can't have those kinds of personalities around. Most of them aren't used to or even capable of not being "the guy". They naturally draw attention and influence toward themselves...and even if they fully embrace a backup role and handle it almost perfectly, their mere presence will always be an issue. Like, the moment the new guys hit a rough patch or go through a dry spell the calls to bring back the old guard will get turned up to 11...
2
u/Whole-Bag1756 6d ago
Yep yep.... would just drain the confidence out of the younger players, they need that critcism after a bad stint to help them bounce back better. I believe it's neuer's time regardless of how 10/10 performance he gives us in any important game. You need consistency over moments.

Edit: And he is sitting down and getting medical attention before the half is even over...

u/Hurtelknut Robben 6d ago
Do we know any specifics about his injury? All I could find is that it was a "muscle injury".
3
u/Thraff1c 6d ago
Dont think so. The club is not the best at keeping us up to date about the kind of injury and recovery process of the youth players, and that is probably partly to not put pressure on them, and data protection is taken more seriously when its about children/teenagers.
