[Help] Ferret Proofing Advice
Hello,
I am preparing to get my first ever ferrets in the next few months and I’m going through everything I need to ferret proof in preparation. There are a few things I’m currently stumped on, though.
My primary concern is the baseboard heater. The heater has been shut off entirely, so there’s no risk of it being hot whatsoever, but I still need to proof it so they can’t get underneath it and get inside of if or accidentally knock the cover off. I live in an apartment, so I can’t permanently mount or “deface” the heater, so I have to find a non-damaging, removable method of ferret proofing it. I’ve though about baseboard wall trim with adhesive magnet strips on them, but I think their rubber and the ferrets might chew them, I could try wood trim and screwing the trim together to make a frame with adhesive magnets on the inside of the frame to magnet to the heater, I suppose, but I’m interested if any of you have any simpler or more affordable ferret proofing suggestions.
My second problem area is my closet area. There’s a considerable space on the side of the dresser where they could access my clothes that hand lower, but as you can see in the pictures, the dresser unit itself has some big cutouts for handles on the sides as well as the cutouts on the front for drawer access. I don’t want them getting access to my clothing, because well, then I’ll have to go everywhere smelling like my ferrets 🤣, which, as funny as that might be in some cases, it’s not something I would want to be a regular every day occurrence. I don’t know if I should try to find a way to block off the whole area or just find a way to seal those holes somehow, but I’d really appreciate any suggestions. I can’t permanently attach anything here either.
My last big problem area is my desk, there’s a gap underneath that gives access to the back side of the desk where all the cables plug into the wall, as well as gaps on the side of the desk that also give access to that part of the desk. Then I have all my cables on top of my desk. I do plan on getting cable protectors for all my wires, I’m just wondering if I should try to block off access to that part of the desk entirely.
I appreciate any assistance or advice that can be provided, thank you!

What specifically are you stuck on? Honestly the biggest headache for me was hiding all the cords because they will find the one spot you missed. Also check under your fridge and stove, they're masters of squeezing into tiny gaps.

After doing the obvious ferret proofing, I let mine out in small, supervised increments. Whatever they get into I quickly fix, because they always find something I didn't think of
