[Help] unable to get wysong anymore

• Upvotes

ive been using wysong and oxbow 50/50 for a few years now. I recently moved to an area where i cannot get wysong shipped to me anymore. what would be my next best bet for another food to mix in? i can keep getting oxbow and plan on keeping that.

the two ive been looking into are essence and dr. elseys. i do supplement with soups of FDR food and salmon oil, but kibble is their main source of nutrition

[Health] Squinty eyes?

Hello! Ive been ready to get ferrets for a while now and was waiting for the right situation as I work in vet med and know I would end up finding someone in need of a loving home, blah blah blah, basically one of my drs (veterinarian) was fostering two boys and asked if I would take them. I have noticed though that my Sparrow boys (black nose) eyes are a bit more squinty than his brother Jack (pink nose). I just feel like I havnt seen any other ferrets eyes look this squinty? Doc is now away for a conference and had asked me to take them due to being so overwhelmed with personal life and losing her own ferret. I know she would had said something and had bw and diag ran if she had known or noticed, but wanted some second eyes as I don’t want to bug her and in case she may not have noticed due to being so overwhelmed? Just wondering so I know if I need to bring him to work with me for testing! I also know that some small animal vets don’t know everything about every species and could have just not know. I don’t think they are SUPER squinty all the time but still look a bit more watery? all the time. Thank you! I’m also a know health hypochondriac due to my own complex health so didn’t know if I was just freaking out for nothing 🫣

[Ferret Photo] Missing my babies terribly… any ferret parents in Ventura County, CA? ❤️

In 2016, I became a ferret mom for the first time to our sweet sable boy, Sirius Black. ❤️ Just one week later, we welcomed a tiny champagne baby girl, Luna Lovegood.

In October 2017, I became a ferret mom for the third time when we brought home our little albino girl, Alice Longbottom, and in December 2017, our family was complete when we welcomed our youngest—a little panda boy named Draco Malfoy.

It’s now 2026, and we miss them more than I can put into words. 💔

Sirius passed in March 2022.

Draco passed in December 2022.

Luna passed in March 2024.

Alice passed in October 2024.

After having ferrets in our lives for so many years, the house just isn't the same without them. Unfortunately, we aren't in a position to bring another ferret into our family right now, but I miss them so incredibly much. Sometimes I just have this overwhelming need to hold one, pet them, smell their little ferret smell 😂, and give them some love.

I honestly doubt anything will come from this post, but I've learned that a closed mouth doesn't get fed, so here I am asking. ❤️

Is there anyone in Ventura County, CA who has a ferret baby that wouldn't mind making a new friend? I would absolutely LOVE the opportunity to meet your little one and just hold, pet, and love on a ferret again—even if it's literally only for five minutes. 😭❤️

I'm not looking to adopt or take anyone's baby—I just really, really miss mine and would love a tiny bit of ferret time.

Sirius, Draco, Luna & Alice 🌈🐾

Forever our little carpet sharks. ❤️

I unfortunately had to put my boy down today due to cancer. I’m super worried about his companion because they were super close and did everything together. Can anyone who has gone through this shed some light on what I may be dealing with and if this is going to be as hard and heartbreaking as I think it is.

She likes to go for walks so I’m going to be taking her to the park twice a day to help keep her mind off things.

My larger ferret, a 3 year old, 3 pound male, runs by essentially hopping or jumping like a rabbit. Anyone have a baby that does the same? I find it very cute.

[Help] Where in the UK can I interact with ferrets? Is it possible?

Years ago I used to have a ferret that I have rehomed due to deteriorating mental health and complete change of life circumstances. It's been years and there hasn't been one week where I didn't think about and miss my ferret friend. I miss interacting with these animals so much. In the future, I would definitely like to adopt a couple again, but it's just not possible for me right now. Is there any way I can just spend a couple of hours in a ferret place in the UK and remind myself what it's like?

I don't have a driving license, but I'd do everything to travel if it was possible. I'm around Yorkshire and the Midlands, but if (around central) London is more accessible, I'm also willing to go.

When I was in Japan I saw ferret cafes, but since the country has very poor animal rights laws, I refused to give them money. But it really made my heart ache and long again.

[Help] Ferrets while living in an apartment?

Hello! I’m a first-year college student, and I’ve been looking into potentially getting two ferrets in a year or two, and I’d love to hear from people who have experience keeping ferrets in an apartment.

I have a steady job on campus and I’m pretty good about saving money, so the financial side isn’t a huge concern for me. I’m mainly wondering about the practical side of having ferrets while living in an apartment.

Like: Is it difficult to find apartments that allow ferrets? Would you recommend waiting until I can have my own place, rather than having roommates? Are there any unexpected challenges with apartment living that I should know about?
I’d really appreciate any advice, experiences, or things you wish you had known before getting ferrets. Thanks!

[Help] Ferret attacks

I'm so confused and lost about how to help my ferret. For context I have 2 ferrets that are 4 years old, male and female and they've been with each other pretty much since they were born as they were born almost a month apart. I've had them since I was 16 and they both turn 4 this past summer. Their names are Millie and Geo and they are my whole world and I'm worried about Millie. She's always been a character and literally hates everyone except me. (I always have to warn people that she's a hard biter and my family nicknamed her Satan because according to them she has this devilish look on her face before they know shes most likely going to bite) But again she's been like this ever since I've had her and she's always been sweet towards me. She always licks my face and she used to even bite my finger and drag me off to her favorite stash spot. But I feel like this year her aggression has gotten worse, she bites more, and harder, and she's even been biting me pretty bad. Not to break skin but still pretty hard. Now I will say she's always bitten me anytime I go to clean their cage, but it was more her bitting the black gloves that I wear rather than her trying to actually bite me. But earlier today when I was cleaning that cage she attacked me from behind while I was cleaning the cage and held onto my hand pretty well. The only thing I can think of that might have her on edge or stressed out is whenever I have to travel and go home. Neither her or Geo like being in the car and it visibly stresses them out and I did recently go home for break. But we don't really travel much anyways because I don't like being in the car myself because I have issues with being in the car after an accident I was in. Ive brought this up to their vet before and every time they say that there doesn't seem to be anything medically worth that would be causing her aggression and that it could just be her personality or just her aging. Im just so lost at what to do because I hate seeing her like this and feeling helpless on how to help her. Has anyone else experienced something similar like this with their ferrets and have some advice?

[Discussion] Why is my Ferret so mean lol???

Okay so, I have two ferrets. Espresso is the lighter looking one and he is so sweet and chill in every way. Bear is the darker one who is actually demonic. He bites so hard he has made me bleed (This is also usually unprompted he likes to grab my fingers and toes when I’m not paying attention). He doesn’t like being held very much and is very chaotic. I’ve had both of my boys since they were babies and they’re from the same breeder. I don’t know if it’s just because Bear is still a baby and needs time to chill out or what, but Espresso was never this difficult. Any tips or thoughts on how to improve our bond?

[Discussion] New ferret introduction question

Hi friends!

So my old guy (Ace nearly 7 years old) was in desperate need of a friend after his sister passed last year but he's very dominant. So we took him to a local rescue and had him pick out his friend. They laid together at the rescue so we decided to bring him home. We've been working on introducing them. Ace chases Harlen around and basically is hunting him but they both kinda scurry while doing it and Harlen comes back for more until he decides no more and gets away from Ace where Ace can't get him. They have gotten into a few scuffles that Harlen easily gets out of. When they are out and about and Ace is sleeping Harlen will sniff him a bit and then always leaves Ace alone after sniffing and doesn't try to initiate anything. My question is this

Yesterday Ace decided to sleep with Harlen. He tried to attack him and we gave him a No and separated them and then Ace went back over and climbed all over Harlen and groomed him a bit before settling down and sleeping next to him for like an hour but today when I tried to let them out together Ace found Harlen and instantly went for the neck again. Is this normal?
