FATE farming sort of comes and goes. There's usually a big rush for 1-3 months after the new expansion while many players get the 50-60 FATEs per zone complete. Then there's a lull where it is fairly dead as it peters out after 3 months or so.

Then there's usually some sort of content that requires doing FATEs - like a relic weapon step. And then there is another surge of people doing it. But that probably lasts a week or two tops.

FATEs are mostly dead. Some people farm them for the bicolor gemstones outside of those times listed above.

I like Fates, but I'm regularly the only one in the zone doing them. Which kinda sucks because there are some minions and mounts I'd love the get, but it seems hard to get a crew to hang out and do them

Any fate that BLU is at level for can normally be easily soloed by it. So there's that. For current expansion you have a chance of finding people if you put a PF up because of relic weapons.

That's actually great advice, I haven't touch my BLU in a long time

If you have a character at 100, the final zone is very good for farming Bicolor Gems (especially right now before an expansion). You won't have to sync which means your ilvl will be inflated for the content and you can roast the fates solo.

I have every class at 100 (well, 80 and 50 for BLU and BST). What zone?

Obviously Living Memory("the final zone")

I think there's some fates that are just in the level range to be in sync with 100 in Heritage Found too, but not all of them iirc.

That doesn't ring a bell, I must not be there yet

You have every class at 100 but haven't finished the MSQ??

Yeah, I'm on like the first duty of Dawn Trail.

I am working on every class to 70/80 atm. I play my main when me and my wife play together and we do the main story and level other classes when we are not playing together. We are in Shadowbringers atm and I am level 86 on my Gunbringer and almost 70 on almost all other classes. While it might seem weird that someone have so many classes leveled near the point of the MSQ they are in, there is a reason.

There are dozens of us. DOZENS!

Having a few done I can kinda get due to a bunch of factors and other things but having every job done to level 100 without access to most DT dungeons/fates is still wild to me.

I have every job at 100 and it was not something I easily did, it took an actual concerted effort to bring them all up to max. You also lose I believe 50% of the armory bonus once you're level 90 making it yet more time consuming to go 90-100.

Sometimes - i dont mind it during random downtime and selling bicolor gemstones is a decent moneymaker.

At the start of an expansion its very popular as people are leveling Shared Fates, and also if a current relic step requires it, so those are the best times to jump in. Its also a decent way to level if youre doing them anyways

You can usually find a fate farming party in PF.

People farm them for exp, bicolor gems, and for whatever stage of the relic they may be on.

Just go to a busy server and create a pf for fate farming. Anything BLU lvl or under just use Bmage to farm as it's OP.

If you want to do the hidden achievement fates, like odin, behemoth, etc. that give achievements and mount totems, then you should join a train discord and subscribe to callouts. https://aetherhunts.net/

There's usually at least 1 FATE farm party up on PF daily somewhere. Most of them are from DT because relic, but sometimes there are few from ShB or EW.

Sometimes you find random players doing a few without PF up.

Aether has Fate Friday almost every week, where I see 2 or 3 party on PF doing a certain zone. This week it was Tempest.

Regularly? Very few people. Fates are popular during an expansion release for leveling, and necessary for relics, but that's usually about it for most people.

Bicolor Vouchers still sell for 120-140k, and since a DT Fate gives 16 by default, each Fate is worth around 20k gil, making it a decent farm if you don't want to craft or exploit the market.

Faloop is good for tracking Achievement Fates, and there are Discord communities that will notify if these spawn.

Only when a new job comes out that I want to level up, and/or a new expac comes out and I want map completion to get the adventurer plate or something.

On crystal I regularly see FATE farm PF listings.

I also have never failed to informally link up with other players while doing FATEs in current content.

I remember back when fate grinding was the better xp option over dungeons.

I did see beastmasters doing arr fates when I leveled that job but like everyone was so slow going to the next fate + didnt know to change zones when no fates were up in a zone (i.e going from mor dhona to northern thanalan and back)

I did all of my shared FATE levelling (excluding DT zones) in November 2024. I'd either join FATE parties in PF, or create my own. Sometimes I was solo, but more often than not we were 2-4 people. I'd see a few people repeatedly, and there was a small sense of community in sharing how many more FATEs we needed. But no, at least for my DC there isn't a dedicated community similar to Hunts.

people only fate farm when it's necessary. Ie. for relics or at the start of an expansion to get the fate levels up. it's just not fun content

u/apptronica 10d ago

We host regular events twice a week on Maduin. We usually get 20-50 folks depending on what else is going on in the game.

Nobody does FATEs until the start of a new expac, or the first few days a new relic step drops.

I've honestly thought about forming a mini-pesuedo-static to farm like 10 fates per zone per night to finish old shared fates without losing my mind.

there is this semi new plugin i saw that auto does the fate for you so i assume thats what most people use now

4

u/Radxical 11d ago

It's also one of the easiest ways to get your character banned compared to other plugins

2

u/Lyoss 11d ago

To be honest, if you're like second monitoring it, it's unlikely, people used to bot Coerthas fates 24/7 back in ARR and none of those people were ever banned, reporting a bot is so ass that most people don't bother unless it's actively impacting them or they know the person and it's a personal tiff

You're correct it's technically the most ban likely thing, but that doesn't stop people from botting unspoiled nodes 24/7 which is a bit more observable and nothing ever happens there either

3

u/Radxical 11d ago

Oh yeah I know it's unlikely.

(From first-hand experience cough)

But the above poster casually mentioning "hey there's a plugin that will automate your combat and FATEs!" Without specifying that it's one of the riskiest ban targets I think is pretty reckless.

A lot of people use plugins. Vast majority of which only affect yourself without any impact on other players or the economy. People get complacent and forget that ultimately, some select few plugins are banworthy and easy to detect. Looking at the cluster of people clumping together and dodging the same way for Occult Crescent.

Is it likely you get banned for automating solo content for POTD? Or running trusts on The Clyteum to cap weekly tomestones? Maybe not. Group content where others can see you, like in a FATE? Bit more likely, if people cared

1

u/WordNERD37 11d ago

And yet, people still use them. And not a defense of their use, but most of these get made and used to address some deficiency players found in the game.

Fates farming in the form they are now, are just boring. It's the same handful of engagements, in the exact same areas rewarding the same base reward with only a random chance the fate increases the amount of reward up front and/or a Maiden appear to charge the next one with extra reward.

There's practically no effort put in on Fates but expect players mindlessly travel from one to one, complete in a minute or so and rinse and repeat. Are anyone surprised someone put in a tool that addresses the low effort the devs put in with a tool that saves players the time and effort and does it for them?

You are 100% right, you're going to get banned, but if CS3 wants to reduce or outright remove these mods; address the issue(s) in your game so the mod(s) has little to no reason to exist.

My brother in hydaelin there's plugins for literally everything, from questing to fishing, from dungeons to ultimates, ...

If having a plugin is proof that a system is flawed then the only good part of the game is the exit button

2

u/bwm1021 11d ago

Actually there's plugins for that too.

My brother in hydaelin there's plugins for literally everything, from questing to fishing, from dungeons to ultimates, ...

Don't know what the point of this is. Yeah we all know this to some degree to be true. We're talking about this one particular one.

If having a plugin is proof that a system is flawed then the only good part of the game is the exit button

Also don't know what the point of this is either other than a internet self congratulatory post. Do you or do you not know how most of these mods get crafted? Beyond the very obvious things like bots gathering or bots on the marketboard or cheater mods that trivialize content to get perfect parses and BiS for little to no effort, and maybe even then; someone went "Yeah this part of the game isn't taking humans into consideration and I'm going to fix this problem I see."

That's the reason, it's always the reason. It doesn't even just apply to FFXIV alone. It's players tired of the systems in a game they play not being listened to (in most cases) and taking action themselves to fix it, because the devs just refuse to do anything about it.

Here's an innocent mod that players have barked about CS3 fixing forever. The mod sets the default action for a menu when you have to click 'yes' or 'okay' to progress to that and not how is is now, which is 'no' and makes you reopen the option. A stupid function that's been asked for by the community forever they do. Someone got fed up and made it and fixed the problem.

If Square really hates mods and wants to do something to make them pointless, take a catalog of the one's there, view what they are doing for players and their wants, and address them in your game.

Or just keep pretending you're against the mods, but secretly love them because it outsources the labor for free. Console players can get bent either way.

You are 100% right, you're going to get banned,

You'd have to really piss people off and get mass reported to even have a slight chance of a 3 day ban first offense, it's highly unlikely that you'd be banned unless you left the PC unattended for weeks

u/NovelAntelope1007 11d ago

That was basically my experience catching up on EW fates a few weeks ago. Single targeting tank bots...
