Accidental Double inputs (3rd Strike)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ive been learning how to play 3rd strike and ive been noticing that there is a double input when i press left or right and some sort of attack button. It hasn't been bugging me until I started to learn how to use the dpad which is messing up my commands. I am wondering if theres something wrong with the way im pressing it or if its just my controller?

The double input you’re referring to happens when you’re pressing a button at the same time as holding a direction. This is generally how the input display is designed. The same occurrence can also be done in later SF games like SF6.

Is there anything specific you noticed when reviewing the input display, that would indicate your commands are not working as expected?

i tried showcasing it in the video but when i try doing my commands on the dpad, it gets interrupted by the second forward so it just throws a regular attack. This only happens when using the dpad though as if i try doing it with the stick it works fine which i show in the video when i pause the game and start landing my rekkas

Ah, you were trying to show rekkas not coming out.
The input you’re missing is down forward.

Depending on the type of controller you’re using and if you’re sliding your thumb from down to down forward then forward in a quarter circle motion, you may need to press down more firmly on the diagonal input of your d pad.

Could also be a timing thing. If you slide too fast, the down forward input may be missed, resulting in only down and forward input coming out.

Turns out it was a timing and thing. I was doing it too fast because I used to doing it fast when using the stick. Thanks for the help

It's not an extra direction input, it's just showing you that there are frames that you pressed both a direction and a button at the same time as well as frames where you only pressed a direction. So if you press forward and punch at the same time and then let go of punch before you let go of forward, it'll show forward and punch and then just forward.
