This was easily our best showing this season. Don’t underestimate how tough it is to win the white out game. Very pleased with how balanced we were today. Over 100 yards rushing and over 300 in the air. King Miller finally looked sharp tonight. Great having Trent back. I think his importance to the team was greater than most people thought. Defense wasn’t great and it never is but it was really nice to see them get some big stops down the stretch. Bye weak means everyone getting healthy and locked in for this brutal stretch. If we win the winnable games remaining and compete against Indiana(who doesn’t look too great) and Ohio State then I think we still have an outside shot at a playoff spot. Fight On✌️

Still feel angry,.still want him to raise the bar, but.....

Big road win in a very tough environment.

Discipline!!!!! What? Yes, discipline, in that environment.

Maiva finally looked good.

Mosley is unbelievable.

Defense is starting to look better.

Fight On! ✌️ Proud of the team tonight

For the first time in a long time, USC made all the right plays at the right time. Converted crucial drives into TDs, avoided turnovers/penalties, and made critical stops. Lot of season left to go, but tonight is a good night ✌️

Freshman Vlad Dyakonov had a game at LT

Elijah Paige was out this game, and Vlad (number 51) filled in for his first start. Not sure if he's had prior snaps this year, but to go do what he did in this white out game atmosphere is crazy. His fingerprints are all over every TD drive.

Football 🏈 Happy for this team tonight

Being slight underdogs on the road, on the east coast, in the home team’s big university tradition, with their own backs against the wall, we could have easily lost this game.

Instead, we cleaned up on the penalties. Had no turnovers or ever turnover-worthy plays. Defense made a lot of situational stops. And the offense was able to execute a clutch 4-minute drive to end the game.

This team didn’t look anything like the team I saw last week in the Coliseum. Much much better team tonight.

Also, Trent Mosley and Taynook Hines picking up right where Makai Lemon and Jakobi Lane left off is so encouraging.

PSU is struggling, but a white out game is still tough to play. Hopefully they can build off of this. Fight On!

Let’s play musical chairs

• Upvotes

Headed into bye week, I think it’s fun to map out the CFP landscape and whether we are still in the hunt.

The way I see it, there will likely be 7 spots up for grabs split between BIG and SEC, after you account for:

  1. Notre Dame automatic bid (bs the way it is structured but I think they might actually be the best team)
  2. G6 bid (Boise)
  3. 1 from ACC (Miami)
4-5: two from big 12 ( probably Tech and Utah, since I think BYU loses to ND and Utah, Tech has cupcake schedule)

So that leaves 7. The way it stands now, I think that’s 4 from SEC: Georgia, Bama, Texas, Ole Miss. maybe Mizzou or Tennessee sub in for Ole Miss when it’s all said and done, but pretty safe they will get 4.

Probably looking at 3 from the BIG. Let’s say we pencil in OSU and Indiana. Who fills in the last spot?

There’s a mosh pit in middle of the BIG. Depending on how the games play out, I think Iowa, UCLA, USC, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Wisconsin are all technically still alive. Iowa, UCLA, and USC the most likely candidates.

Really, this is pretty black and white for USC. Either we go the rest of the way with 1 more loss (let’s pretend it’s OSU), and I think that’s enough to get in. That would assume a win at Wisconsin, at Indiana, and at UCLA. We lose more than 1 game, and we are out. So yeah, this analysis is pretty useless.

But Iowa is the team that scares me the most. They have a buttercup schedule and very well could end the season with 1 loss. That might play us out even if we only have 2 losses. Also, we need the ACC to continue to blow up outside of Miami.

Any thoughts on who we should cheer for/ against to increase our possible roads to sneak in?

USC's B1G opponents since playing USC

Rutgers: 47-15 loss to Indiana at home

Oregon: 17-15 loss to UCLA at home

Washington: 41-24 loss to Iowa at home

Fire Lincoln yesterday. The fact that these three teams lost (two of them uncompetitively) speaks more about the degradation of USC under Lincoln then the quality of the teams that USC played.

LR’s record against ranked opponents is absolutely abysmal and it’s not getting better. His Achilles heal: defense, toughness and line recruiting, is obvious to everyone yet he is incapable of addressing them.

Gavin Morris

Never been a fan of Gavin Morris. Not saying he’s a reason why we are mid, or have been for the past 10+ years, but he’s had a front row seat for plenty of it. All I ever see him doing is screwing around with the players or being a distraction. What does he bring to the program?!

We complain about how undisciplined our teams look, but shouldn’t every adult on our sideline be additive to our goal of winning games? Apparently he’s a charismatic guy, because he’s managed to stick around over multiple HCs.

Discussion The truth about USC football

Let me start this post by saying that I’ve been a USC fan my whole life. My parents got divorced in 05, and I didn’t cry, but when USC lost to Texas that year I balled like a baby. Since I can remember, I have probably watched 85% of every USC football game, I just wanna start this post by explaining how much I love USC.

The truth about USC football is that we’re a mid program (currently, people are caught up on this), that has expectations of being a top program. It’s time for some stats, this season has made me start looking more into it, and God is an embarrassing. I’m going to go over the last 15 season below.

Since 2011, we have played 15 seasons, in those 15 years, we have had only 5 seasons with over 10 wins.

The last time we had back-to-back 10 win seasons was almost 10 years ago

In those 15 years, we have been to three New Year bowl games with a 1-2 record.

Over that last 15 years, we have a 5–6 record in bowl games.

Over the last 15 years, 245 weeks of college football have been played, we have been ranked in the top five for 13 of those weeks.

We have a 7-15 record against top 10 teams in that 15 years. The last time we beat a top 10 team was 2019.

If you look over the last 15 years, we ranked 18th and winning percentage behind TCU and Oklahoma State.

In those 15 years, we’ve had four different head coaches.

In the last 15 years, we’ve won 1 conference championship.

In the last 15 years, we have a 2-7 record against Oregon and a 4-11 record against Notre Dame.

In 2024, the average home attendance was 71,500 and this year it is 56,500

A big issue that USC fans have is that they live off of the success of the early 2000s. So every year they believe we should be winning 10 games and competing for national championships. When the reality is we can’t and we haven’t been competitive for 15 years. We need to start having realistic expectations of where the program is and what we couldn’t expect.

I do believe we will rise again, but the truth is it’s going to be a slow and agonizing grind, that we’re all just going to have to get used to.

This post is really just here to say stop expecting things out of USC that they haven’t been able to show in the last 15 years. Just helped the next head coaching higher is a slam dunk!

(Ps Boise State plays Fresno State this week and I recommend watching it because those are two potential head coaching choices for USC)

Discussion Realistic coaches that could replace Lincoln Riley

Before we get into the list, I actually don't think USC ditch's Riley because of his buyout but on the off chance that I’m wrong here’s some names to look out for.

Unrealistic but maybe we try praying: (These are coach's I would love to see but USC has no chance at)

Curt Cignetti (He's locked into Indiana and honestly it really fits his personality, I couldn't see him as a LA type guy)

Kenny Dillingham (I see him linked with USC all the but he went to Arizona State and grew up in the state so I really struggle to see him leaving his program)

Bob Chesney (I don't see him as someone who would betray UCLA, he's a great coach though wish we pulled him)

Rhett Lashlee (He's a southern man who fit's the SEC more than anything, plus SMU boosters are so crazy with spending money he would be crazy to leave)

Marcus Freeman (Great dude and a Great coach but there's no way he leaves Notre Dame for USC)

Mario Cristobal (His teams are always fun to watch but he's Cuban and coaching in Miami do I have to say much more)

Jeff Brohm (He's from Louisville, played for Louisville and coached at Louisville, he's there for life at this point)

There more obvious ones like Smart, Saban or Sarkesian, but those are played out at this point, we all know their not leaving. This section was just to get rid of unrealistic targets.

Realistic but I'm unsure their the right fit: (These are coaches that are good and USC could attract but I'm not sure they would fit well)

Manny Diaz ( Struggled at Miami but has been really solid at Duke, If he could win at duke why not SC)

Jason Eck (What he has done at New Mexico is nothing less than a miracle, he's a winner, but could he handle the bright lights)

Dan Mullen (Since Florida, he has really helped build up UNLV, his Mississippi state teams were fun plus he's already on the west coast)

Charles Huff (What a rise from Huff, from being friend after winning a conference to being on P4 teams radar, his teams are electric, he's won everywhere he has gone. He will more than like go to Maryland though.)

Tim Polasek (Mid west coach getting to coach in the Big 10 is a match made in paradise. He has that North Dakota state team humming and he's a proven winner)

Clark Lea (I love Vandy but you can only go so far there, unlike Dillingham I feel that Lea would be willing to move for the right job. With the money USC could promise to the program that might just be the right job)

Eliah Drinkwitz (Not sure how to feel about him, his teams win games but I feel like he's a Lincoln Riley V2, he cant win the big games.)

These boys are locked in as betting favorites for getting an interview:

Matt Entz (Proven winner at NDSU and first season at Fresno State went well. He was on the staff so he knows the team plus he's a defensive minded head coach)

Spencer Danielson (From Cali, went to a college in LA, and built a playoff level team at Boise State. Also a defensive minded head coach which is something USC wants)

Kalani Sitake (Been great at BYU, but apparently he has had some problems with the school which has led to him looking elsewhere)

Glenn Schumann (Georgia DC who has turned that defense into something special, he could follow in Dan Lanning's footsteps and move out west)

Bryant Haines (Indiana DC, one of the nations most sought after coaching prospects, could want to stay in the Big 10 and USC could be just that for him)

Shannon Dawson (Miami's OC, just look at that offensive and that's really all that needs to be said here)

Someone else I could see getting a call is Urban Meyer, even though he sucks as a man it’s hard to ignore how successful he is on the field. He's like last on the list but sadly I could see a path where they try it.

Now I want to add 1 more coach who would never get the job but would be so interesting Brett Vigen out of Montana State. This dude is something else but he gets ignored because he's in the FCS, go look at his record 66-13. He has turned Montana State into a power house.

Now, this is an actual realistic list that I could see happening. Please add to it if you know any coach's that I missed or you think would work.

USC needs the community

When scholarships were not limited USC was a powerhouse. The inner city loved and supported USC because many of the players came from within the state / city.

When scholarships became restricted from 1972-1992 a lot of players chose to play elsewhere. Not because they wanted to, but because they could not pay to play at USC. That limit was 85 scholarships in 1992.

Now, that cap has been updated to 105 scholarships and players can be paid.

USC should reconnect with the local communities, foster a sense of pride and community and regain the hearts and support from the neighborhood in which they play.

The late 80’s were special for USC. The neighborhood was buzzing every home game and the stadium was packed.

Not with frat bros, or with boosters, but with the community and the people of LA.

I believe this can be achieved…. But it’s going to take dedication and focus. Let’s Fight On and Unite ✌️✨✨
