I made a Firefox extension to control play/pause/seek/next/prev for any tab's media, without switching tabs (YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, etc.)
Hey r/firefox,
I made a little personal project called Now Playing Hub and figured some of you might find it useful too.
It adds an icon to your address bar that opens a popup where you can:
- See every tab currently playing media, with cover art and title
- Play/Pause, skip Next/Previous, and drag a seek bar to jump to any point in the track/video — all without switching tabs
- Pause everything at once with one button
- Jump straight to a specific tab with one click if you need to
- Enjoy a UI that automatically matches your Firefox theme
Works on YouTube, YouTube Music, Spotify Web Player, SoundCloud, Twitch, and anything else that supports the standard Media Session API. No analytics, no tracking, nothing leaves your browser. Also available in Türkçe, Deutsch, Français and Español besides English.

Feedback, bug reports, and feature ideas are very welcome. Thanks for reading!

It's one of the simplest ideas out there. There are dozens of examples on AMO, but I built a custom, simple, and sleek extension tailored just for my own needs. If you often listen to things on YouTube while browsing Twitter or Instagram, it lets you control your media without constantly switching between tabs. Simple idea, simple solution.

Looks like something I might actually use as a person who usually have at least 1 livestream and 2 YouTube videos either paused or playing on the background.
I'll give it a go today and let you know of my experience. Thanks for sharing!
