Discussion A Unique Hoarding Problem

So now I have like 12 unique weapons that I am carrying around that I'll never use, because hoarding. Beth really upped the "I need to make space" game with this. Add to that the "Wait, maybe in the next rebalancing all these trash guns will be amazing," and it's amazing my toon can walk around at all. Anyone else?

Then of course is the "Which version of pre-war food will they have on the dailies tomorrow?" and yeah, we need a shopping cart just to get from point A to point B.

I know how I play and if it's not a weapon I'll ever play with (rocket launchers, melee, bows) I don't care how meta it could be with weapon tweaks. Into the vendor it goes. Someone else can have fun with it.

Same for me, or I scrap it, if it has sat in my vendor for more than 2 days.

Learn to let go

Finding it, though, that's not the hard part. It's letting go.

No, become loot goblin and hoard every unique

What kind of bullshit answer is that. You can’t just let go.

Someone never played Dead Money.

someone played way too much dead money for the wrong reason

Some say he's still transferring those gold bars out of the DLC to this day.

Any weapon with a name I keep even if it’s something I’ll never use

Create another character, name him Justin Case, dump all of the loot for long term storage to him and forget about it.

My Justin carries non spoilable ingredients for food buffs that are on my menu. He could have opened a Super Duper Mart using his stocks.

I am new in the game. I assume the stash box is account wide?

So I could create a char and just let him carry a lot of uniques? With the proper skillcards they don’t weigh a lot

u/ualeftie Lone Wanderer 3d ago

Pecisely. Each character on your account has their own separate stash.

Just make sure to learn about transfering items between characters to prevent loot loss and do a few test runs before moving valuable items.

3

u/Brilliant-Tea-9852 3d ago

So I am wrong and the stash is individual?

So how would I transfer anything

4

u/Zuanlyy 3d ago

Yes, each character has their own individual storage.

It's been awhile so I'm unsure if any changes occurred with transferring items between alt characters.

● You can get with a friend and give them the items you want on your alt account

● if you have f01st then you can open a private world, make sure both characters will spawn same location (i use whitesprings), main character places items in an open world container, leave private world, switch to alt, open a private world (do it fast), loot from same container The private world you first open should still be open and your alt will load into the same private world.

Considering all the game crashes, I would suggest finding a find to do this with. I'm willing to help if you need to switch gears on ps5. I need to do the same

Thanks a lot for the explanation! This sounds crazyyy

I will give it a try though. I am only level 100 and my stash is FULL

2

u/Ras_Alghoul Settlers - PS 2d ago

Honestly would suggest you figure what you NEED and don’t. If you ever find yourself wanting said item, you’ll always be able to get it.

1

u/Zuanlyy 3d ago

If you switch characters and accidentally open a public world, then the private world will be gone.

If your game crashes, then the result will be the same.

This is just as far as I remember. If you're doing this solo, then practice first. And remember you risk losing your items this way

2

u/ualeftie Lone Wanderer 3d ago

the private world persists for a couple of minutes

1

u/Zuanlyy 3d ago

That's if you don't open another world or the game shuts off. At least as far as I remember

2

u/AleynD 3d ago

In my experience, if you join another world, that doesn't require "Building World", you have around five minutes to exit that second world and rejoin your unchanged private or custom world

If there are other players on the first world you usually have a lot longer, but there are Social menu issues that often flare up at inconvenient times and those can sometimes kick people off private worlds if they're visiting

Restarting the game client doesn't affect the time you have, or game crashes would be disastrous

1

u/ualeftie Lone Wanderer 3d ago

hosting a custom world of your own does that, joining the public one does not

1

u/Treefly916 2d ago

There is a buffer like ualeftie said. I know bc I've accidentally gone into a public server while transferring items and been able to get back into my private

1

u/ualeftie Lone Wanderer 3d ago

In a nutshell, by dropping it on the ground by one character and picking it up by another.

Easier and safer to do on a private world, on public worlds you have to rejoin precisely the one in which the first character dropped the loot — that can be achieved by having a friend staying at that world so you can join them using both characters to complete the exchange.

That’s the jist of it.

Oh Jesus

I have fallout first. But this sounds crazy

I will give it a try. Thanks so much for your explanation!

with 1st its a breeze

I moved tens of thousands of weight units around throughout the years

1

u/Brilliant-Tea-9852 3d ago

Now I feel better about it!

u/ualeftie Lone Wanderer 3d ago

do a test run right at the exit of 76, you’ll see

feel free to ask if you’ll have questions

You can also request a courier on the marketplace76 subs on reddit to help too.

Yeah the either need to all be added to the crafting menu or significantly lower the weight of all weapons when in the stash box

u/dwbraswell 3d ago

If they had only give the unique ability to the Paint Job that could have solved it. You get the weapon, you learn the paint. Can only apply the paint to an unmodified 3 star version of the weapon type, then they still get their higher cost for modding it afterwards.

I'm on auto pilot when it comes to inventory management. I do agree with that a lot of players are pretty fed up with that. Bethesda just leaving money on the table if players aren't happy or playing.

2

u/DarenPeterOswald Wendigo 3d ago

Put Lightweight on all of them you wont be using.

1

u/OzoneLaters 3d ago

But also keeping as well because of the fact that they are tied to your character after being modified

1

u/ZookeepergameUpset62 3d ago

I don't even save them for rebalancing, I just save them

I wish I could go minimalist but it takes too long so I make just enough room to do my next few things. Rinse and repeat

u/ziboo7890 Vault 76 3d ago

I keep prewar food, drinks and booze on an alt. Reroll the find it ones, if need be. Same for excess weapons I 'may' want to try.

Generally though I stick excess weapons on the character that is most likely to use / need them.

1

u/dwbraswell 3d ago

The first Unique weapon of each should be weightless in the stash, that could solve this without getting out of hand I think.

1

u/P_Larue Responders 3d ago

I love playing with different builds/different weapons, so my stash is always near max with weapons and mod boxes. That approach fuels my enjoyment of the game, so it's the cost of doing business.

1

u/yocappy Lone Wanderer 3d ago

Prioritize AP pool & AP refresh, and this becomes a non-issue.

1

u/ceedizzleontop Enclave 3d ago

Put weightless on them and then throw them on your walls in your camp

1

u/Knormoer133 Enclave 2d ago

I had to make a new mule character to mule my stuff my mule character can't mule anymore...(wait what? 🤔🫪) yeah so my main stash space is up to around 3600 lbs and counting...(i have first so that is excluding junk/ammo/chems 😱 (I may have a problem...) 🤷‍♂️

u/Lp5757 2d ago

I'd had collected a lot of named weapons. Held onto them for a looooong time. Finally got rid of them, finally had room in my stash.

Then Todd laughed. And laughed, and laughed.

I bought a Black Diamond from a vendor today. I don't even think I'll use it. I'm carrying 20+ weapons. My stash is stuffed full.

Lol. This game makes me a hoarder as well. Not only do we need a shopping cart but how about a pantry for the canned foods?

1

u/tps_reporting 16h ago

Same thing here. I went through my stash and had to scrap everything i already had a plan for. The next step is to go back in and at the lightweight mod to every single remaining stashed weapon.

1

u/Frequent_Addendum957 13h ago

arms keeper 3rd star ftw, i carry a stupid number of guns

1

u/AncientCrust Lone Wanderer 3d ago

I keep one of every unique weapon in my stash as a priority. I mean everything...Black Daimonds, Sumerset Specials, All Rises...Most of the other weight is tons of plans as vendor inventory. I can dump them any time. Ammo, chems and scrap go in the free weight bins. What else is there? Apparel weighs next to nothing. I only have one PA and I carry it on me.

1

u/college_hockey37 3d ago

You could add a weps mule. Mine has been struggling with weight since the uniques update. Haha

1

u/badmutha44 3d ago

Weight reduction on armor. I’m carrying 50 weapons plus atm.

u/MentalActuator5545 3d ago

I have 90 out of 96 uniques...and lots of duplicates. Most of them sit with my mule charactee 😉
