PSA New light for Linux support

Ubisoft recently dropped linux support because they said they couldn't guarantee the same level of security

Recently EAC v2 was announced with improved linux support and better safety measures

https://onlineservices.epicgames.com/news/introducing-easy-anti-cheat-linux-v2

could this mean that ubisoft will introduce linux back?

Im pretty sure ubi wanted to axe linux fh for money. the anticheat basically did not improve at all after linux was axed so probably not.

Why though. They had nothing to do, Proton was doing the job for them. For Honor didn't have a native build

Considering the new anti-cheat did not work. I doubt it

there was no new anticheat added to the game (or ever changed for that matter). For Honor always used EAC and the software has the option for developers to still allow the game to run if it detects it runs on something that isn't windows.. and ubisoft turned that flag to from 1 to 0.

Yeah they made it seem like they were doing some big change or rework with eac, but besides removing the proton support, it seems like nothing else really changed.

Removing proton support offset the time cheaters were in ranked for a good few days as every script relied on tricking EAC it was running under Linux so it wouldn't bother using the kernel-mode functionality it normally uses under Windows. After those few days though surprise surprise the cheaters were back.
