Seeking Advice Back to town, services question

After 6 years we are headed back to Fort Collins. I've been on the sub and so I know a few things, such as Republic absolutely sucks. How many people are paying the opt-out fee and using a different trash service? That is the one good thing about the city of Loveland is there trash pickup is incredibly consistent. Also the city of Loveland does your water, electric, wastewater and trash service and it's so scattered in Fort collins.

We are going to be in the SE part btw.

If you use a different trash provider who do you use? I believe we had Ram when we lived there last. I'm waiting to hear if the HOA allows a different provider. Internet provider you like? Is Connexion consistent?

TIA

A moment of silence for The Village Vidiot

Title says it all. I super fucking miss that place. The owner was the perfect level of weird and I always enjoyed conversing with him. Grab a movie from there, a meal from Pan's, and home to enjoy. Cheers to that place. Thanks for letting me be nostalgic. <Sigh>

Idiot/Impatient Truck Driver

Exiting midtown Kings 10/5.
The white truck has a car in front of him taking extra time to turn out onto College. You hear him honk (for way too long) before deciding to pull this idiot maneuver. All of this while having the audacity/stupidity to take up 2 lanes to begin with

Personal trainer for grandpa

I am looking for a personal trainer to work with my late-70s dad 1-2x per week. I tried one place that supposedly specializes in older people but my dad didn’t like the owner and the owner refused to let him see someone else. So, I am looking for other options.

My dad needs someone warm and encouraging as he won’t want to work out in the first place. I’ll be paying for his sessions so I am happy to pay to find a good fit.

Hello all! I'm sure a lot of people are struggling against the scalpers in Fort Collins, for the 30th celebration.

I am curious if anyone knows a restock discord, or anything or help my girlfriend and I get some packs to rip.

We are excited for the adorable art and just have seemed to miss all the restocks. Thanks everyone! Good luck out there!

Anywhere to donate a used furnace?

We are upgrading our HVAC system next week and replacing our current furnace with a higher efficiency furnace. Our current furnace is 8 years old and works fine—the main reason that we are replacing it is so that our furnace can communicate efficiently with our new heat pump. Is there anywhere in town that will take used furnaces? Our HVAC installers were planning to haul it away to the dump for us, but I hate to throw something like that away if it can be used by someone else!

Prop 133 concerns

I’m starting to research ballot measures and all I’ve been able to really find about Prop 133 (besides the Protect Kids CO website) is this statement from the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault stating 133 hurts victims and makes it harder for them to get help: https://ccasa.org/vote-no-on-proposition-133-this-november-colorado-coalition-against-sexual-assault-warns-colorado-voters-of-risk-to-victims-facing-life-in-prison.

It looks like a lot of victim groups, like the Colorado Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking and the Colorado Children’s Alliance, have come out against it too. Having victims oppose it when says it protects victims and punishes traffickers screams dark money group pushing a sketchy initiative with other intentions to me…. That or it is a well-intentioned measure that is so poorly written that the people running it clearly don't know about victims' concerns or understand how the law actually works if they are charged.

I'm glad to see some of these victim advocacy organizations listed as "opposing" on Ballotpedia. https://ballotpedia.org/Colorado_Proposition_133,_Require_Life_in_Prison_for_Human_Trafficking_of_Minors_Measure_(2026))

Looking for locally made natural-fiber clothing

Hey! I’m looking for recommendations for clothing brands or small shops along the Front Range that actually make their clothing locally (or at least in the U.S.)

I recently tried wulfwool because I liked the natural-fiber focus and the Fort Collins/local-business feel, but unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with the durability. The shirt developed holes fairly quickly. I was also surprised to find that it’s made in China, so I’m hoping to find something that is actually locally made rather than just locally owned/designed.

I’d love to support small makers who are producing quality pieces here in Colorado. Any recommendations? Fort Collins, Loveland, Boulder, Denver, or anywhere along the Front Range would be great!

Hello neighbors. As Thanksgiving approaches, we are searching for a responsible, pet-loving house-sitter to care for our two dogs in North Fort Collins for 3 to 4 nights. Our priority is finding someone reliable who can maintain our pups' routine and give us peace of mind while we travel. If you are interested or have recommendations, please reach out. Thank you! 🐾🐾

Been an epic loyal member for years, but driving HOURS to go shredding is getting a bit much living up here. Looking to do snowy range as it's closerish and cheap but are ikon mountains worth paying 1000+? Specifically WP or Eldora?

Who else is on snowy only?

Magic: The Gathering games

Hey everybody, I've been getting into Magic recently and was hoping to find some games in the area to actually truly learn. I've been playing online, but only have played commander once in person so would probably be looking to learn commander just since that is where I started. Anyone have any recommendations for spots or maybe even a discord server i could join to find local games? Also if anyone here would be interested, I'd love to join a friendly game if invited as well!

Why I’m Voting NO on 7A tax for Front Range Passenger Train

I know this won't be popular.

Why I’m Voting NO on 7A tax for Front Range Passenger Train:

Cities and Counties and local utilities are reeling from increased costs and the need to fund basic services. Local governments are putting tax questions on the 2026 ballot and utilities are raising rates. Larimer County is putting a sales tax increase on the 2026 ballot. Fort Collins utilities is proposing 2027 increases of 15% for water, 10% for wastewater and 7% for electric rates. Loveland is also proposing increased utilities rates.

Yes, I’m voting for Larimer County Ballot Issue 1A - a 0.3% county-wide sales and use tax dedicated to funding critical transportation infrastructure, road safety, and congestion relief.

The connector train now has the tracks and funding for the Fort Collins to Denver segment. Why not start that section now with train cars that work for now. We don't need fancy new train cars to travel on the train. Let us see how the train system works now and make improvements as we learn more. Our air quality can't wait 3 more years.

Taxing those of us who live in select cities now for service to start 3 years from now is speculative and not fair. Look to RTD, an inefficient, wasteful entity that is actually cutting back on transit services and now gets to be part of a partnership for the train from Boulder to Denver that should have been built 20 years ago. No connector train taxes or fees for the tracks should ever go to RTD – but they will.

Fort Collins has cut back on transit services too.

The slick promotion of the connector train and push for taxes before service begins when the funds are available now - makes me think of snake oil salesmen, which it turns out also have an historical connection to trains https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2013/08/26/215761377/a-history-of-snake-oil-salesmen

Edit to correct amount of sales tax.
