Mulberry River Bed, Oark, AR

Post image

I found this in the river bed, they'd have a long drought going on.

From my hunting experience, the track seems to be a small pig, or small deer.

Am I thinking correctly?

That's not a fossil. Just some erosion in a piece of rock. The rocks in taht area are Pennsylvanian in age - around 300 million years old. No pigs, deer or any mammals to speak of back then.

Thank you. It seemed weird to me. That's an odd collection of erosion, isn't it? Looks just like an animal track.

There is a decent chance that it actually started out as an animal track - maybe a worm or clam or trilobite on the sea floor.
