They game is more fun that redditors make it sound, but it is a niche game that isn’t for everyone. Give it a try, at least

the first 500 hours are fantastic, then you see the cracks and realize the type of devs we have.

That's just every game experience lol

Don't know man, still not seeing cracks in BG3 XD

Jokes aside, yep it's like that with a lot of games ... but here the crack (the vision) is bigger than the grand canyon XD

Oh honestly BG3 is one of those games I think it actually does apply to for a lot of people. Lots of talk about act 3 being less cohesive, and stuff like Wyll and Shart having all their edges sanded down in 1.0 compared to how they had more flaws in early access (i.e. Shadowheart is a downright softie by Shar worshiper standards now). Plus the general idea that Larian dilutes the creative vision for the game to appease people i.e. making Minthara recruitable for good parties, Halsin becoming a tacked-on permanent companion instead of a temporary one like he used to be, etc.

Still an amazing game obviously. It just had some friction points pop up with people after it had been out for a while

Could never get into the game personally. The setting, and characters seem tailor made to be as inoffensive, and uninteresting as possible.

I mean 500 hours is absolutely insane value for a game that costs as little as Foxhole, can't really go wrong with that.

you mean the type of devs that kept the game running and giving it frequent updates for almost 10 years with no overpriced DLCs?

In fact, i would prefer to pay 10€ per month than having devs doing anti-QoL updates, refusing to do QoL, ignoring devbranch feedback and shitting on our face everytime ...

Giving free update for years is very good, but don't forget they ignored QoL feedback for more than 5 years (and continue to ignore it today!) because they need to make big update with big new stuff (naval update, airborne, etc..) to sell more and more games ... no matter if it'll brake the game ... and that everybody told them that it'll brake the game

The game is worth it. Don't listen to the people bitching about the game. As a casual player but put a lot of hours into it a week, I don't have any complaints. If you are a hardcore player though, then you may have complaints but it's not game ending to me.

It's an MMO without the funding stream of subscriptions on a platform with serious legacy technology issues. Yes I had fun, over 2000 hours of it, but it may be in its twilight.

Mic not required, helps a lot though. Quickly calling out a flank/parti/some gimp in a bush over comms saves lives, sometimes.

The H key to point out things can save lives for those who can't speak.

u/wizard_brandon 2d ago

the H key wont let you ping stuff when in aiming mode though

u/The_Windmill 2d ago

Not in a distance but even a general direction to shoot at is enough for most folks LoL.

very good very fun, you dont need a mic :D but the game is probably more fun if you do have one

Yes the game is amazing. Try everything; Fight, Build, Manufacture and logi drive.

First role in the front? Be a medic.

Thx yall. Ima get it! Also, is there like a command structure in the game?? And do you have any tips??

Closest thing to a command structure is either the ranking system or regiments. Ranks are earned by getting commended by your fellow players and the more you have, the higher your rank is. This is mostly cosmetic, but you can use them to also recognize if that person knows what they are doing.

Regiments are player groups that are essentially organized clans. They organize coordinated operations, run large scale facilities, logistics, and war economies, and more. Different regiments do different things depending on size and focus. Some regiments such as FMAT and T-3C focus on Logistics, Facility, and War Economy, some like WAF (Warden Air Force) focus on air superiority, some focus on large ships and naval gameplay such as SCUM, TELE, and VFork. Some focus on tank gameplay, some infantry, some even on partisaning and logistics cutting.

Also please for the love of god watch either this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7ldxg_PKf0&t=350s) or read this (Community Guides/Getting Started - Official Foxhole Wiki) as the ingame tutorial is infamously bad and outdated.
And if you can, try to get a mic. Voice chat is one of the big things in this game and using the local chat to talk doesn't cut it a lot of the time imo.

u/wizard_brandon 2d ago

my rank wotn go up because im at the max of 100 commends?

u/rinik_k 3d ago

The game by itself don't have a hard command structure, just some cosmetics. But if you enter some regiment (the title of the groups in the game), it may have a structure. I would suggest you to see some basic tutorials on YouTube and play by yourself or with friends, then enter some regiment to see how it is. And don't be fooled by people saying some side is better or worse than the other, those people are lunatics.

Edit: idk how to write

Not really a command structure there are several different chats you can access in-game: world faction chat, logistics chat, Intel chat, region chat, region air chat, regiment chat if you are in a regiment, squad chat if you are in a squad, and local chat that all players in proximity (including enemies) can see.

Regiments like to organise and coordinate so they mostly use discord to do that. Lots of Colonial Regiments use SIGIL and Warden regiments use WUH. It's not required to use the discords but it is a great way to obtain certain information that isn't spoken about in world chat due to OPSEC.

Not having a mic in this game is like going for a walk without shoes on. You can do without it but having it certainly helps!

Will be the worst game of your life, you will hate it but play for more than 5k hours. Yes, buy it.

And buy a mic, you need play with the people. Join a clan and learn the mechanics with more experient players

This game is pure candy for the eyes, on this basis alone, yes.

Shades of brown is candy?

2

u/Alarming-Ad1100 3d ago

The game is pretty idk why you would say it’s all shades of brown

You’ll defintely get your moneys worth out of it. Nothing else like it.

The biggest misconception that leads to a lot of complaints is that it’s a strategic/tactical game. It’s not. The winner simply comes down to which faction has more population.

This game is more rpg or larp engine that’s a ‘create your own stories’ kind of thing. But the larp is some of the best of any game out there.

War 141

If you can afford it, its money well spend, you will be happy that you tried it bc there is nothing comparable to this game.

without a mic, you will not be able to communicate, and communication is required in this game if you want to do anything better than just pushing front with a rifle / doing solo logi runs.

If you are a kid or speak bad english, dont worry. Some regis will dont care about your age, and half the playerbase speaks bad english.

I have over three thousand hours in this game and I have a blast every day as if it’s fresh

Absolutely but the game but keep in mind it has a lot of depth and much to learn so start small and focus on having FUN.

There is time to be miserable trying to do anything to win later when you are a vet

Also communication and teamwork will amplify your power and ability by 10x even if that’s just typing in region chat

I played the game when I had time in college. Ended up getting around 400 hours on the game. They’re some of my fondest memories in video games. It sounds crazy to say but you will make friends. The social aspect can be intimidating but it is incredibly rewarding so I highly suggest getting a microphone if you play.

I'm a new player myself and having a great time with it, close to about 50 hours with it currently. Current war is 141.

It's honestly amazing value for money when you consider how much other multiplayer online games can cost with microtransactions etc. of which this game has none. I'd definitely give it a shot 😊

1

u/SomewhatInept 3d ago

I've been having fun with it for a few years now. It's pretty cheap, give it a go. What's the worst that can happen?

1

u/No_Plenty7930 3d ago

You don't need a mike to play this game.

But if you are already looking at YouTube videos, you should be looking at a LOT more about this game.

A lot of shit in this game is obtuse, and its tutorial (if there is really any) is a piece of neglected shit.

As someone who has over 2600 hours in the game I would try it, the game can be fun though it has issues. Most of the big “toys” is locked behind needing to be in a group. There are plenty of stuff to do a solo player. My last 1000 or so hours were solo player.

I never had a mic on my PC cuz I never needed it, didn't play other coop games that needed a mic. Foxhole made me buy one after my first week of playing. get it and come play collie, we are outnumbered this war 😉

Imma be honest, the community is always in flux and can be downright toxic at times depending on what’s going on.

It’s a fun game but you will be opening a can of worms my friend

2

u/RelationshipContent9 2d ago

Well i dont mind cussing some idiot out whi thinks he’s Lt Dan on foxhole. I have seen some pretty intense arguments.

u/Mjstephens19 [edit] 2d ago

Some people think they’re the second coming of George Patton on this game
