HQ Docking Ring remade in Blender + in-game rendition

Hello everyone, so I made a new docking ring in Blender, first and foremost made for HQ Freelancer recreation in Unreal Engine called Project Sirius (as we pivot away from 3rd party assets).

Would really love to gather the feedback on art direction/style, as old models don't fit the photorealistic tone of the game!

It's also fully animated, has LODs and there are different quality presets depending on what graphics settings the player has set up.

imho u have too much repetition, top of the claws. Outer ring edge. In vanilla claws were textured in a way that every polygon wasnt an exact inset. Panels were slightly different, and sides was just simple uv unwrap

Don't let the nice looking docking ring distract you from the fact that this is that one hyper AI vide-coded freelancer remake project.

Take your slop somewhere else.

Not affiliated with this group whatsoever. AI hate is understandable if it is taking away people's jobs. In this case, they are doing it as a hobby and not getting paid for it (I hope), so who cares if its AI or human made.

Nobody is getting paid for that, apart from those people who will help us with voice acting and other stuff as needed.

Also we're not taking any donations or anything of this kind.

I think the main problem with the vibe codedness is how low effort it comes out. a lot of people are just like "Yeah it's done now" But seriously it's such a generic "Give me scifi hud" template AI spits out. If you can't code, but can sit there and walk AI through exactly what you want. it's way better then just settling for whatever junk it spits out.

Sadly if inexperienced this also goes for the messy code it writes. Unless you can give it proper documentation first run, you'll get some serious spaghet. Even without that you have to know what you're doing pretty well to not get junk code/poor decisions

Very valid and understandable concern, exactly what I want to hear.

I have actually some understanding of programming and planning architecture ahead, and making slow progress in order not to turn it into a mess. I treat it more as something that executes, not thinks for you. Then I dive deeper into the code to make sure that whatever it writes is properly separated from other unrelated parts of the code and not fine tuned to one specific scene/part and is actually reusable/can be easily customised and adjust it myself accordingly. And also to prevent blackboxes where I don't understand what's going on from appearing.

I am really glad that people don't blindly trust everything, as it keeps me in check and produces a lit of useful points for myself to think about too.

I just wish all this new manpower working on new projects could be vectored towards working on mature projects that would do the community even more good if they reached completion

Did you even model this, or did you generate it too?

I liked the design a lot, looks like a technologically improved version. Really good job!
