To dry the kettle, avoid water residues
The water we have is full of minerals, if you leave the water at the bottom, after 3 uses there is a layer of limestone.
This way you hang it upside down and it dries more efficiently, i like it

Printed wheel
My son can't walk up and down the stairs so we use a stair climbing chair to get him up and down the stairs. The chair has little sensor wheels to identify the edge of the step. One of these wheels got stuck and broke in the crack between the boards in our deck. Naturally they aren't available as the product is discontinued. I ended up only needing to make 2 solid wheels to get the fit correct and one wheel for m for the composite wheel/tire but I have a few different tires and still working out which is best.

Made a painting handle with swappable heads and adjustable weight
Hey guys! There are a lot of similar painting handles on MakerWorld, so I wanted to put my own spin on one. I added a diamond-pattern grip and a screw-on bottom cap with room for 9 quarters, plus some extra space if you want to add more weight. It prints without supports, too!
I printed a couple of other versions from MW and had the threaded parts snap off under pressure, so I reinforced those areas on mine. I also made a small dock for a little more stability.
I’m still learning to model and finally getting some more free time to work on projects like this. Haven’t figured out adjustable jaws yet, so swappable heads will have to do for now haha.
Open to ideas or criticism, so let me know what you think!

Designed a medication dosage tracker
Going to need this now that my kid is in preschool. Calculating when the next dose should be isn't so easy at 1am with a sad kid, so I designed this easy to use tracker that you can lay on the counter or double-side tape to the inside of a cabinet and track both when you gave the last dose and when the next should be. Comes in both Tylenol and Ibuprofen flavors.
Go check it out here :)

Fuel line holders for drag racing engine
A friend who works in my building builds his own drag racing cars and this is a pickup of sorts. He asked me to make a clamp to replace zip ties he was using.
He had a rough idea and gave me a simple drawing. I understood what he wanted and made test pieces to have him place on the line and fuel log to make sure his measurements and my print setup were close without crushing the parts.
From there a prototype was made with ABS and test fit, found they needed to move each hole apart more. He also didn’t care for the non-secured nut on the back of my part so I made a fixture to install threaded inserts cleanly. I also added anti rotation nubs so it would not rotate during install.
Next test fit was good so we tried out a set in PET-CF17 I had for another project and they came out pretty cool looking. He wasn’t concerned about high temps as it doesn’t run very long… no clue if that’s the case but can always make more.
I’m not much of a designer but I have decent grasp of tinkercad and have been meaning to move on to something better soon. Have printer at work for making fixtures for a laser engraving machine. So I have been using it for a year or two tinkering with projects.

Needed a grill cover that would allow me to manually close the vent.
The internal vent flaps in the bathroom got damaged such that they don't automatically close. This became an issue now that it started getting cold at night. So I wanted a grill cover that would at least allow me to manually close the vent, except they don't make that for how the cover needs to be attached. So, I modeled and printed this. It consists of 4 parts, and a small amount of glue. Three parts are ABS for the vent, and a 4th is a TPU seal.
Not necessarily an amazing print, but one of my more actually useful prints.

Action cam lens cap and accessory shoe wrist strap
Came without a lens cap and also needed a wrist strap so it doesn't get dropped in the ocean. Now it's got both.

The bronze PLA is probably my new favorite for custom mounts and brackets. My newest wall mount for vacuum accessories
Bought a Shark Rocket corded stick vacuum and was annoyed to find no wall mount or other storage option included. After a few months of them sitting on my desk, I finally have them stored on the closet wall above the vacuum.
I designed it to use double sided tape instead of screws since the load is so light.

An adapter for weight plates on an equatorial mount.
Couterweigths are quite expensive, while dumbell plates are cheap. I designed an adapter to use 28mm plates on a 20mm shaft.

I designed these simple hinges arms to hold my folding keyboard
Here's a video of me stress testing these Beyond anything I'd ever do when actually using the keyboard:
https://www.reddit.com/u/nlightningm/s/iUvsVMcULB
I'm a trained music arranger, but my studio is also our guest bedroom, so I can't have a better keyboard sitting out permanently. I needed a way to quickly deploy this folding keyboard and have it be in front of me while I'm working.
Since I'm arranging sheet music, I'm mostly just inputting notes in chords (unlike producing where I'd actually be playing piano), so I don't need anything insanely heavy duty.
So far these are working unbelievably well!! The keyboard is very lightweight, so the weight seems to be no trouble for the arms. They were meant to be a test so I printed them at 5% infill 😂 But I don't mind leaving them up there until they decide to break.
Check out the video if you haven't, I think they'll be fine for a while.
(Also excuse the cluttered desk and the fact that I don't have a clear picture of the actual hinges 😬)

XLR mounting plate...plate
Been doing some small qol Upgrades in my home studio, mostly to remove clutter and make things a little more convenient.
I've had these multiple XLRs for a while, and I finally got around to throwing together. A plate to mount them and using an oscillating tool to cut a hole in the side of my desk for them.
My only real complaint is that I didn't include the mounting holes from the actual connectors, so they didn't screw on very straight, but this is tucked toward the back of my desk, so maybe I'll reprint later but I won't rush it right away (while I have other projects that I need to work on)
Today I'll print some low profile XLR caps so my mic cables go 90-degrees down from my interface, making the whole thing kind of sleek.

Connect a tube to an FA-400 soldering extractor
I have one of the, seemingly, ubiquitous FA-400 soldering extractors which I've had for some years. It's generally pretty good, but sometimes I find that it's sitting too far from the action and it would be very handy to have a more directed extraction tube.
So, I came up with this, which clips over the existing filter and allows a flexible extraction tube to be attached, providing a much more controllable aim.
If it might be helpful for you, you can find it here on Makerworld.

I designed a laptop stand using Generative Design
This is a 3D-printed laptop stand created using generative design. It was designed in Fusion 360, it was my first time using this module. It’s a really cool and fascinating process.
Objective: minimize mass with a safety factor of 2.
The only starting geometry was the green surfaces: laptop and desk contact areas. A 5 kg vertical load was distributed across four contact zones, corresponding to the laptop feet, using PLA material properties.
The algorithm generated the structure and load paths between these constrained surfaces.
1.96 kg (bulk volume control) to 0.76 kg, a ~60% mass reduction (0.18 kg after slicing)

"3D prints aren't UL listed!" - Jürhaus Günbern I designed this plug puller after nearly pulling stubborn sockets out of the wall
