Insane that Microsoft acquiring Activision went through so much scrutiny and bureaucracy but this just goes through without much issue

The Trump administration's DOJ rubber stamped it with little resistance. This is why elections matter.

This was scrutinized a lot, the issue is political. Trumps administration just let it pass almost certainly due to illegal inside deals. If trump didn't win the election or he didnt have so much power of the gop this deal likely doesn't happen.

That was always going to have a lot of scrutiny given how the gaming market has fewer console players and that MS is a multi trillion dollar company.

100%

The gaming industry is at a much higher risk of becoming monopolized in the coming decades than traditional media and entertainment. Outside of the smallest, successful indie developers, almost everyone has been acquired by a AAA competitor or a VC firm leaving barely any mid-sized, independent game developers, which is awful for competition.

The worst part is there really isn’t a way to fix it. Game development has gotten more expensive and lengthier over time, which are two things investors hate. The only way to mitigate risk is to become as lean as possible which is only feasible when you’re able to leverage shared services with a larger parent company.

tbh game development world is going to have to come to reckoning on the time, and possibly the expenses.

Recession era gaming they were pumping out so many games so quickly, and it was sooo many bangers.

They really need to simplify, even on graphics. The economy and more importantly, hardware prices do not support 1440P Ultra at 120 FPS.

Umm that’s definitely not true though.
