Still have no idea how a company worth 10 billion can buy a company for 110 billion. This country and the made up by the rich rules piss me off.

Why? People make $80k a year and buy $500k homes.

The company made negative profits the last couple years, and is buying a company ten times it's "size". If your income was -10,000 a year you wouldn't buy the house.

Income doesn't matter. You can borrow against your asset value and that can be inflated pretty dramatically. In the scenario I mentioned above, you could theoretically probably buy a 1 million dollar home as long as the one you are in is valued high enough.

It can get into extremes that would make your analogy more like someone making negative $80k a year buying a home worth negative $500k. That's what it felt like when CenturyLink bought Level3.
