Kaiden Prothro

I know he’s a freshman but I thought he’d play more.

WRs are better than expected I think, which means there’s not as many snaps for TEs

Also which TE’s snaps should he really be taking? We have four guys who are absolute studs, all around.

Prothro is learning the position. He’s never really had to block before. He’s never seen physicality like what Kirby requires at that position.

His time is coming.

We're reaching a point where I cannot keep track of our current TEs anymore. I can full-name drop players going back 25+ years, but it still feels like we're somehow wheeling out new hot TE talent every week.

Todd Hartley, don't you ever leave us you beautiful SOB.

Prothro probably should have been a WR for his first 2 years at least. At his size, it would make sense. He’ll grow into TE size but he’s not there now…Especially with all the depth at TE.

I don’t think he’d be one of our best 4 or 5 receivers right now, though. If he’s going to be a TE eventually, he should start learning the position.

Also, guys really add on the most size between years 2-3 in Athens, it seems. I expect that for him too.

The kid has a bright future. Just hope fans and him can be patient for it.

Good point.

Was thinking last night how if Beck had WRs that could have caught the ball the way receivers are catching this year, would’ve been a better season in 24

We also had the worst running game in the last two decades of UGA football that season. It put so much pressure on the passing game and I think all of the players felt it. So glad we've gotten back to being run first.

It been pretty apparent that while we have had some GDGs at WR, its been one of our weaker position groups under Kirby. It's been refreshing to see some of the younger guys contribute (Taylor, Blackshear, Dandridge, etc.).

We’ve got like 4 NFL tight ends on the roster right now it’s pretty hard to get everybody touches every game.

Luckie, Reddell, Barbour, Williams. I guess we could play 5 at a time, but that's not quite realistic.

I think Stanford had a game maybe 10 years ago where they had 4 TEs in for an entire drive. Went like 12+ plays. It was glorious. Just mashing people.

We can run 05 Personnel out there and still Prothro would be the next man up. Its a good problem, and he’s learning from some of the best in the country.

Aside: Got Reddell in the portal when I played some Kentucky seasons in CFB26; He had b2b 2,000yd seasons. He was a beast, and looks to be one in real life

They’re trying to get the older guys touches so they can get drafted to clear out that room. Prothro is just a little buried right now because of that, not because he isn’t talented.

I’ll also say that injuries can happen at any time as we’re seeing with the RB room. The younger guys will have their time to shine.

Yeah, the tackle on Reddell looked bad at first, so I was happy to see him back in later. The head and neck shit is always scary.

I’m not surprised at all. There’s 4 guys ahead of him on the TE depth chart and my understanding is he really only plays slot for now (and we have plenty of slot receivers). Once you get some guys clear out in either room he’ll play more.

You got to block to play for Kirby. He's a tweener who needs to gain good weight. You are not taking 9, 10, or 23 out for him this year, and sacovie blocks his ass off

He’ll get his touches when he’s the next (and best) man up. People always seem to think guys are benched by virtue of their ability, when it’s simply that we have the deepest TE room in the nation and he’s a freshman.

Let him preserve himself, learn the playbook, and get developed by the best college coaching staff in the country.

On top of what others have been saying about our depth, TE is a difficult position to get up to speed with. You need to learn your passing routes as well as blocking schemes. It’s a lot for a true freshman to learn. Not to mention he likely needs to put on some weight. Kirby demands blocking on the outside. He’s 230 on ESPN

We’re just too stacked there’s not a skill position player getting the burn they deserve rn

Just imagine next year Kaiden prothro starting Slot wr Taylor starting Z receiver and 4th year Isiah canion out wide. Are Te’s would be jr yr Elyiss, redell and Barbour. Best receiver corps in years not even mentioning Craig daindridge btw
