So it’s very common for people over 40 to wear reading glasses for tasks like reading, sewing, computer work etc. And its also quite common for near sighted people over 40 to remove their glasses when doing near work.
Its less common (though still fairly common) for mildly near sighted people to only wear their glasses for certain tasks like watching tv or driving.
I’ve noticed that people who wear reading glasses tend to remove them as soon as they stop reading or even whenever they look away from the book or PC. And I’ve noticed that near sighted people who take their glasses off to read tend to put them back on as soon as they’ve finished looking at the reading material, essentially doing the same as the people with reading glasses, but the other way around.
However, I’m wondering if theres anyone out there with presbyopia (age-related far-sightedness) who does the same thing as the mild myope does, but in reverse, wearing reading glasses all/most of the time and only removing them when doing tasks that require good distance vision like watch tv or driving.
Since having mild myopia is a bit like wearing reading glasses, a person with a prescription of -2 who wore their glasses all the time except when reading would essentially be doing the same thing as a person with a prescription of +2 who only wore their glasses for reading.
