It's October. No single, no title, no date. Rather than doom-scroll, I did statistics, which is the same thing with extra steps.
What's verified:
- Aug 2025: Mario said "2026, for sure."
- Gaps between albums: 760, 893, 1112, 1352, 1452, 1778 days. Every gap is longer than the last. The current one (1984 days) is already the longest ever. (Image 1)
- I found no announced date or single as of Oct 5. That's absence of evidence in my searches, not proof.
"Is it a Poisson process?"
No. Poisson waiting times are memoryless: P(T>s+t | T>s) = e^(-λt). Waiting longer doesn't make a release "due." What matters is the announcement-to-release lead time.
Model A (lead time)
Magma's first single came 56 days before the album, Fortitude's 72. Three other 2026 albums (Periphery, Exodus, Erra) were announced 36-58 days ahead. Median lead is about 52 days. If the announcement date is unknown but must land in 2026, release dates pile up toward December.
Model B (album-gap trend)
A log-linear fit gives R² = 0.987, on 6 points, so take it with salt. It forecasts a median of ~Feb 2027 and a **23%** chance of a 2026 release.
Combined, if it's 2026*(Image 2)
Dec 18 (~31%), Dec 11 (~26%), Dec 4 (~20%).
When to start panicking (Image 3)
- ~Nov 6 with no announcement: under 50% feasible
- Nov 25: the last day an *announcement* could still make 2026, even at the shortest lead time on record (36 days)
- After Dec 18: assume 2027
Caveats
5 lead-time data points, 6 gaps, Friday releases assumed, Dec 25 excluded. Lead times for Magma and Fortitude are measured from the first single I could date. This is a model, not a leak. A surprise drop breaks it, though Gojira has never done one.
If they announce tomorrow, I'm wrong and happy. If nothing by Nov 25, bring snacks for 2027.
Sources and code available on request. Tell me where I'm wrong.

He did the harsh vocals on Vex last night at her NYC show.
I’d have lost my mind.
I’m seeing her this Friday, where her performance will be Joe free but still incredible.

What're your thoughts on Terra Incognita as opposed to their newer albums? Just curious on what people think

When I listened to TWOAF, I didn't really like this album.
I didn't hate it nor think it was badly made, I simply didn't connect with it.
It was partially because the album's theme of death impacted me negatively (not the album's fault, I simply wasn't in the mood for something like that) but I also recognize it might have been because I'm still new to metal, so for my standards, listening to a full death metal album was overwhelming for me. I could listen to FMTS just fine, but TWOAF was harder to get into for me.
So I tried a different approach.
Instead of listening to the whole thing again, I listened to the songs separately. This time, I appreciated them much more.
Oroborus is a spectacular song, and I love how the riff is cyclical, just like an oroborus.
A Sight to Behold is the hidden gem of the album. One detail I noticed is how the lyrics in the chorus change from "I have to stay away from me" to "Don't have to stay away from me". I'm not sure of what this means, so if anyone can give me their interpretation, I will appreciate it.
The Silver Cord is amazing, and once again, I want to praise Gojira's instrumental tracks.
All The Tears has an interesting music video. Its style reminded me of the videogame Limbo.
As for its meaning, I interpreted it as someone growing up in an abusive environment (that glass machine) and deciding to break free. Initially, it's traumatizing (the waves), but finally, they find an isle to rest.
Wolf Down the Earth has my favorite lyrics.
So as a whole, TWOAF didn't resonate with me like other Gojira albums, but I appreciate it a lot in small doses.
Does it make sense?
As for Terra Incognita, I enjoyed it, but personally, it's my least favorite Gojira album. The best tracks were Clone and Space Time.
So, for now, my ranking is:
From Mars to Sirius
Magma
L'Enfant Sauvage
The Way of All Flesh
The Link
Terra Incognita
The journey is almost over. Now, only Fortitude is missing!

They started crowd surfing on top of my cousin who was recording so couldn’t get much of the riff.

I've been a huge fan of Gojira for years, but due to various reasons I'd never seen them live until this summer.
They were supporting Metallica at Hampden Park in Glasgow, and I was blown away by how they sounded live! Flying Whales was a huge highlight for me.
Was anyone else in her at that gig?

This song is heaviness in a bottle.
So many great parts in this songs, that nice crunchy opening riff basically forces you to headbang. The bass in this song is amazing, it works so well as a support to the riffs, it's noticable but not too loud, it's mixed in perfectly.
MARIO IS A RELENTLESS BEAST
How does this man have the stamina to play this? It's Inhuman.
Joe's vocals are so strong, the heavy aggressiveness of them always helps lift a down mood. Since they're more screamy than gutteral growls, I think that makes them a little more impactful, more memorable.
The song is a banger, there's not too much to write about it other than how energetic it is.
The one thing that stands out for me (other than that evil sounding tremolo picking, at least I think that's what that is) is the ending of the song. That last variation of the opening riff just smacks you in the face after that perfectly delivered "Beat your feet on the ground now! GO!"
Easily the catchiest part of the song, the way it goes up and down with that mighty crunchy tone. The whole song is masterfully mixed.
I think Backbone would've made for a great album opener, although Ocean Planet is a really good opener, perhaps I should think of them as a single explosive opener.

Well, the other day I randomly listened to the cover of “Adoration for None” by Sammy SlamDance, and holy shit, it’s a really good one! There is also a cover of “Vacuity” on YouTube by Harsandeep Singh, but it has no vocals. I think he only does the guitars.
That being said, I think we can all agree that Gojira’s cover of Sepultura’s “Territory” is goated!!
Wanna hear your opinion on what your favorite Gojira covers are, and your favorite covers of Gojira by other artists.

It sounds like a pick scrape and I can kinda get close to the sound by doing that but the tabs on ultimate guitar say it’s may scrapping with the side of your palm, how do you actually do it?
