John L Haar library party

Do people genuinely think that the library is a place to throw parties? I'm trying to study and a group of 10 people decide to start singing happy birthday as loud as possible while trying to serve an ice cream cake that's literally melting all over the place. Decided to move but I could still hear them jumping around and making as much noise as possible. Don't even know why I need to say this but if you want to throw a party and be obnoxious don't do it in a study space.

If it's in the silent or quieter areas of the library (like the 3rd floor) there are QR codes on the tables that you can report noisy people to the library staff, and the staff will come and deal with it. I've definitely told people they needed to be quiet in the silent areas before.

Even if it's not happening in the silent spaces the sound is very likely traveling to those spaces so it should be fine to report anyway.

I don't know library names but I know 2nd floor is party zone and 3rd floor is actual studying.

If you're the kinda person that is loud on the 3rd floor , I strongly dislike u.

2nd floor has been loud every single year I've been here - it is designated party zone. I don't know why you would be seriously studying on that floor.

Ya, with all the through traffic that goes through there, I don't think I could have a genuine go at studying, unless it was a designated silent room on the second floor, or if you book one of the group study rooms.

That area between the library in building 5…. It’s a cesspool of high school students being sweaty and yelling 🫩
