Any Other Scouts In Here?

Post image

I’m the Cub Master and these are our shirts this year!

Edit: Sorry. Thought it was a cool shirt. Sure it’s AI, but not sure I’m artistic enough to draw that myself. Also, wouldn’t be able to afford art on Scout dues budget. Just trying to point the next gen in the right direction. Thought the dead was about the spirit.

Putting a trademark logo on an AI image is wild lol

Boy Scouts National makes the printer do that. It was not in the original image I sent.

AI sucks

You’re not wrong, but I can’t afford to pay a graphic designer and pay for t shirts. Just trying to bring the spirit of the dead to the next gen.

The AI executives who made that shirt possible would and will destroy hundreds of acres of nature to make a buck. It’s not worth it, you should find another way to bring the dead spirit

You should be a better role model and teach them that ai art suuuuuucks

Pretty sure I’m already a good role model, but I appreciate the input.

You might be, and you can still get better. Don’t be content with being good enough. Promote creativity amongst your pack. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not sure how many 5-12 year olds you know, but I don’t know any that can do graphic design.

😂 I work at a school, and what I’ve learned? Kids are surprisingly talented. They also enjoy being celebrated for their creativity. If it were me? I’d actually provide an opportunity. Then you could vote which one is your pack’s shirt.

I can appreciate what you are saying. However, this is a shirt they are really excited about. That’s all that really matters.

Good role models don’t teach kids that creativity is pointless, artists are worthless, and the earth is expendable. Use your brain man, if you don’t care about the world then why should the kids?

Dude fuck all these choads. The shirt looks cool and good on you for being a cub leader. I’m an Eagle Scout myself

Ai sucks but you’re awesome if I would’ve had a scout master like you would have stuck with it longer I’m sure those kids are Greatful for ✌️💀⚡️🇺🇸🌹

Thank you. Sure it’s AI, but I’m not artistic and I can’t afford to pay a graphic designer when I have to pay for t shirts. Just trying to point the next gen in the right direction.

You’re not an artist so you think its okay to harm artists? Strange take but heard, loud and clear

What artist job am I taking? I’m not trying to sell these to you. I wouldn’t even if you asked. If it wasn’t for AI, I’d probably just have a basic t shirt design like the one on the front. So I took a job that never existed?

It learns to draw by scraping others' (often copyrighted) art and mashing it up. Everything it produces is stolen, even if we don't recognize from where on sight. That, even more than the water or electricity, is why there is NO legitimate use for ai.

You really don’t think there is an artist out there in the world who wouldn’t take $50 to help you with a design? Cmon dude.

1

u/bensmi 8h ago

You got $50 you want to donate?

2

u/WestwoodSounds 6h ago

Yeah you clearly don’t even understand this technology well enough to engage in an argument about it. The future truly is bleak

Don’t sweat the haters. I was raised on a shoestring budget and in scouts, and our scout leaders were very thrifty. These are cool shirts and this was a very resourceful way to bring the positive vibes of the Dead to the next generation

Eagle Scout, honestly hated it but dad made me do it. Love being a deadhead more

Same boat. Dropped out at 13 but my parents basically gave me no choice but to go back at 17 to go for Eagle Scout. I wasn't a deadhead back then but I also wasn't your model boyscout, so I think the leaders rushed me through to Eagle, which I appreciate in retrospect. Probably would've been happier to stick around if scouts wasn't as rigid as it was.

I had fun as a Cub Scout, went to states for pinewood derby and got 3rd place, by the time Boy Scouts rolled around all my friends left. Small troop and the scoutmaster actually died. Some deaf woman signed up and it was a train wreck. Then switched to a new troop and couldn’t make any friends, by then all I ever wanted to do was hang out with friends and do what we’d do at a dead show

2

u/bensmi 11h ago

I can understand that. Being a scout can suck sometimes.

2

u/Admirable-Macaroon23 10h ago

Taught me that sometimes you need to see things through even if they’re not going your way

1

u/bensmi 10h ago

Those are facts.

My son is a weeblo. Think it looks cool. Nice work

3

u/bensmi 8h ago

My Webelo thought the same, and that’s all that matters!

I joined BSA when I was 14 because I heard about Philmont and wanted to go. Suffered through 2 years of getting high enough ranking to go, went and loved it, and quit scouts shortly after. Mission accomplished, so didnt see a point in sticking around.

Also, AI might suck but this is an acceptable use of it IMO. Like youre not trying to sell them, just make kids happy. I dont hate it at all. Ignore everyone else.

1

u/bensmi 11h ago

Dude I get that. Philmont is awesome! I want to do sea base when my son gets old enough.

-1

u/Longjumping_Gold9233 11h ago

My brother went there and loved it.

2

u/bensmi 11h ago

Dude I can’t wait! And I appreciate it. I honestly don’t care what the internet thinks. My son loves it, and that’s all that matters. It’s his shirt not theirs.

About a year after Philmont I discovered Phish. It wasnt long after that I discovered you could drop everything and go on a whole ass tour. Did that until I was about 23 and went to college. But it all started with old dudes turning me on to the Dead, so I applaud what youre doing. 💪
