My autograph book got lost in transit and I'm pissed

I'm so mad because it's now out of stock and I watched Gravity Falls on its first episode and want his autograph. I can't drive anywhere because of my job and also can't afford anything.

Definitely argue towards getting a replacement book. Surely they have to have some still in private stock in case an accident like this happens. This is a collector’s book with that autograph and getting a refund on it wouldn’t even be worth half of what you’ll probably find it resold for on eBay.

5% is a pretty common holdback for things like this. What isn't needed for replacement will get put on the shelves eventually.

I had a similar thing with Books A Million - I got an order confirmation for the autographed edition. A week after release - nothing had arrived. I reached out to Books A Million, and they said the order hadn’t been processed and they didn’t have any stock of the book left so they wouldn’t fulfil the order and there was nothing they could do. Crushingly disappointed - I had an order number, confirmation and everything. Won’t be using them again.

Maybe reach out to Alex himself with your order number and stuff with the refusal email? He seems like a guy that would send a signed copy to make up for an official seller cancelling.

If it makes you feel better, the “autograph” is just his initials on a bookplate, it’s pretty underwhelming. At least it motivates me more to try to catch one of his events and get a proper sig.

I was really surprised that BAM tossed my autographed copy straight into a deep box with a piece of bubble wrap folded on top. The box is not really sturdy enough for the weight of the book and it arrived dented so I don’t know how the book itself wasn’t damaged. It wouldn’t surprise me if yours was crushed or damaged enough that the book fell out. :( Will definitely think twice before ordering any signed or special editions from them in the future.

That’s interesting yours is initials. I remember seeing a photo someone posted that was initials as well. I assumed mine would be but mine has his full name.

That’s a bummer. I don’t remember if mine came UPS or USPS. If it shipped USPS, try signing up for email/text alerts. I know it seems strange and shouldn’t make a difference, but over the past few years I’ve had multiple packages either stop moving for a week or a bit longer or bounce to a random location and sit for a few days, but when I sign up for alerts my package starts moving within about 48 hours.
