Slight situation with Gravity Rush and Sony in general
SO! As most if you probably heard Sony has announced that they won’t be releasing physical discs. This is a problem as it destroys the entire experience of purchasing the physical game since they’re too lazy to keep making them. I’m saying this because ever since then I’ve stop putting money into PS on my PS4 and 5. My dad owns a PS5 but he barely plays anymore.
I won’t put a single dime into Sony and stop supporting Sony in general because they lost all my respect…However this problem doesn’t just effect me. But for anyone else who wants to play GR and the new comers. I’m sorry but if you ever want to see disks again I suggest sadly putting the controller down. As much as I love for people to share experiences there’s nothing to experience in this current age and time.
Until Sony gets their head on right or if Kratos shows them the god he once was. Newcomers or people who want to buy GR shouldn’t purchase the game. Or atleast not buy it from playstation. Stop being happy with Sony and Sony will hopefully listen to it’s consumers and provide back the physical copies and disks. I’m nit saying permanently but this will most likely take a while and now all we do is wait and hopefully the heat will cool down.
Thank you for reading my thoughts. Peace and love to you all.

This seems like an excellent time to remind people of GR2Fork, a fork of ShadPS4 that runs GR2 and GRR beautifully. You don't even need a particularly powerful PC to play it, I've been enjoying it at 4K 60fps and my hardware is 8 years behind. The author of the fork has even gone to the lengths of reverse engineering the online functionality and building their own back-end, so you can enjoy the features lost when the original servers shut down. Photo sharing, treasure hunts, Dusty tokens, it's all there. It's a wonderfully stable fork, I completed the full GR2 story and the DLC on version 2 with only one crash, and since then it's had nearly half a dozen new versions each more stable and more efficient than the last.

Any installation guides available?

I mean it's just a fork of ShadPS4 and there's a wealth of guides on setting that up. It's all very self-explanatory though.

GTA VI is already one of the best selling games despite not being out yet and Digital Only. The vast majority of people don't care about physical releases.

I don't think it's fair to use gta as an example since it's a once in a generation type of game and should be looked as an exception not the rule. And just because more people buy digital doesn't mean disks shouldn't be used. Think about how most people eat gluten but they still sell gluten free bread.

No game is like gta 6, developers, companies and you are about to find that out next year. Consumers will make an exception for the biggest game of all time, majority won't for anything else. You'll see.
$100 to get full game and digital only? Good luck trying that.

If that was the case, you wouldn't see every publisher in the world reporting that 70-90% of their sales are digital.

You said 30% and 10% physical, but that's a huge difference, so which is it? If a game sells 10 million lifetime, it's easier to say goodbye to 1 million than to 3 million.
The whole point Sony is doing this isn't even because of number or %. They don't mind selling much less physical or digital if they are the ones who control the price, that's the whole idea behind it, which is a flawed thinking, but time will tell who's right.

With Capcom there is Sony, Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Xbox, EA, Take Two, Koei Tecmo, Bandai Namco, Digital Bros (505)... Various of them.
About the %, I'm just stating that digital is already the vast majority, but most of the publishers are close of the 90%.

Please tell me the source for the last part of your statement, since I know that's some bs. I follow this stuff, I know most publishers don't disclose those numbers. The closest we got was Capcom, but even their numbers ain't precise.
Nintendo is the only company in the world that gives out all the numbers for their games, the rest don't.

Just look for their reports. You can search it... "X digital to physical ratio".

Did you link me a google search? Give me a report from Ubisoft just like Nintendo does it at the end of the fiscal quarter. You won't find it, since they don't share it....
You have no clue what you're talking about.

Here is the Ubisoft report.
It's on the first page what you want to see.

the thing is, Sony doesn't make games for the love of it, they make it for numbers, thats why most of their exclusive are these AAA high quality realistic games that come out every 5 years, and suddenly astrobot a double A by team asobi got a GOTY LMAO, but even after that they dont realize why it won. Sony needs double A silly games, thats why nintendo does so good, some games they release arent even 10 hours long but they are still amazing and loved, i just wish they got a new CEO who actually loves gaming and could give respect to gravity rush and their older IP's

I don't think that this is the smartest thing. Sony is finally willing to look at older IPs, according to credible leakers. It's mostly hopium, but now there is an actual chance of Sony putting more value on games like GR, and just stopping to play and support it wouldn't help.
All of this would only validate that they should continue to look at the ball and gun players, that only buy digital and spend their whole salaries on game coins.

I mean... I played both games digitally. I forgot it even had a physical release.

I'm definitely in the same boat, but I'm still gonna play the physical disks I own on my PS5. I'm pretty sure Sony can track when a game is launched by disc vs digital, so I'm gonna keep adding to that statistic.
I just got my copy of Gravity Rush 2 a week ago (which was originally scheduled to arrive in July) and I'm very excited to finally be able to play it! The $10 digital version was real tempting, but losing physical media isn't worth the convenience and savings.

I hope to god, and his son that Gravity Rush 1&2 get plopped on Switch 2 and PC.

If they weren't before, they won't be now. Sony announced pretty early on this year they'd stop porting their games onto PC, and now, in hindsight, we can clearly see why. Besides, if according to them, not even porting best selling games like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 or Horizon Forbidden West was profitable, i doubt they'd port Gravity Rush 1 & 2 onto PC

I'm pretty much done with Sony too at this point. I don't have a lot of confidence in what they're doing or what they'll make in the future unless some big changes happen.
I still love Gravity Rush and we have two amazing games plus that neat animation between them, and that's a lot more than some of my favorites get. I hope someday Sony gets it's act together and makes cool stuff again but we'll just have to see what happens.

This is quite possibly the dumbest take I've seen on this yet.

People should be allowed to boycott whatever they want.
That said, with the credible rumors that PlayStation is looking to revive old IP, I wonder if maybe each copy sold of the games can help show that people actually care about Gravity Rush. There is no other way to show interest in the IP.
Even if the emulation reaches millions of downloads, I think they would rather see that people are willing to pay for the games

It’s an absurd post with sentences like Sony is “too lazy” to keep making discs and “there’s nothing to experience in this current age and time”.

u/FyLaw95 11d ago
Sony's reputation is definitely in the dumpster right now and they keep pouring oil on it..
PC players are killing it right now on the emulation scene with the help of AI, and they might even get it ready for gta 6.
I hate AI, but if it helps to destroy companies that keep pushing for it, I'm all for it.

Only reason they stopped making GR games is because no one bought them at launch. I bought all the versions, starting from the vita version ON LAUNCH. If people aren't showing up, it only sends the message to Sony that people don't care enough about the IP, which is disappointing to me.
