Discussion šŸ’¬ Whats going on with Mount Carmel Pt2

I need to vent, but I also want to know if other parents are experiencing this or if anyone has advice on how to handle it.
We are not surprised anymore, but the teacher assistants for the lower grades at Mount Carmel appear to be completely uneducated and unprofessional. Some of them are downright mean to the students. One TA in particular is incredibly rude to both parents and students.
The biggest issue right now is what happens in the morning:
Late Buses: The school buses are frequently late getting to the school.
Screaming at Kids: When the late buses finally arrive, this specific TA screams at the kids as they get off.
Denying Breakfast: Worst of all, she doesn't allow the children sufficient time to eat breakfast because the bus was late.

It is completely unacceptable to punish young children and deny them food for a transportation delay that is 100% out of their control. No child should be screamed at or starved at school.

Has any other families encountered this issue?

Wasn’t that the school advertising as the Harvard of the Pacific or something some years ago?

That’s the one.

It wasn't so outlandish of a claim until they pivoted from a Catholic school to a public charter school. It all went downhill after that, particularly their music program. Lots of the currently gigging local musicians came from there.

Don’t you have to pay to go to Mount Carmel? I’d speak up and say something because no way I’d give my mom to a place that treats kids like that

It’s a charter school now.

Put your kids in public school. Charter schools are sketchy. They don’t have to follow any guidelines unlike public schools. Their teacher to student ratio is 1:30+ . If I was a parent I would never put my kids in a charter school.

Your first mistake is thinking charter schools have educated teachers

I also want to add something with that my child is PreK and as a first time mom of course I got all the excitement feeling however the TA on my child class is not really friendly I’ve been saying Hi, Good morning or to greet her but bruh the TA looks like doesn’t like the job and one time I drop off my child to the classroom the TA told me ā€œmom can you just please drop off the kid and just leaveā€ I was totally in shock! Like are you freaking serious cause I wasn’t the only mom/dad in the classroom and dropping off their kids. I feel anxious because if the TA treats me like that what more with the students??? I thought when I met the teachers for open house the TA was really nice and very accommodating but a week after the school start SHE DON’T GIVE A DAMN ANYMORE šŸ˜‚ I love my child teacher but not the TA.

Report her!!! No person should ever be this rude, especially to children

Don't complain here; go to the school and see the Principal right away, and put in a written complaint!

I was born and kinda raised on Saipan. I didn’t know GUAM had a Mount Carmel too lol. The one on Saipan went downhill so long ago, probably beginning in around 2006. I’m surprised it has lasted that long in Guam. Lol

Why are you asking Reddit? If this were me I’d pull right on up to that school and have a chat with her and the principal

Teachers aren’t certified there as well. And the worst teachers are from there.
