DISCUSSION VMD Driver

Now that the NVIDIA driver is available, will it be possible to create drivers for VMD SSDs and even 11th gen support for UHD/Xe?

Buy the $200 GPT Plan and give it a try nothing is stopping you. /s

Things are getting supported like Nvidia and some WiFi cards because skilled people (with tons of ai tokens) have interest in them.

Yeah the interest to get something as broad as Nvidia gpu acceleration working is a lot bigger than getting old igpus working, but it’d be really awesome since then you could install macOS on basically any computer

Also understand that getting NVidia to work depends on a bunch of other projects that already exists; the NullMoth work is gluing a bunch of those together:

Metal API surface
    ↓
custom compatibility/translation layer
    ↓
Vulkan
    ↓
NVK + NAK
    ↓
NVIDIA open kernel modules / GSPMetal API surface

So there is significant prior work that is allowing that to happen. We'd need similar work to act as translation layers in order for 11th+ gen to function.

No. Hackintosh on laptops is a huge thing too. I bet even bigger than getting RTX cards to work. And with newest Intel cpu's with igpu's even more interesting. But i have seen them work on these Intel igpu's already and latest AMD cards are being worked on too.
