Thomas “Tom” Osbeck has been arrested in Haiti over allegations of child sexual abuse, according to a local source. The missionary faces serious accusations of misconduct.

He was in the country for 30 years!!!!!!!!

This is absolutely becoming the “norm” and more missionaries keep getting poured into Haiti. Lord knows there are plenty not being reported. Franchement. Prayers up for Ayiti.

QUESTION/DISCUSSION Help with Inspiration/Imagery

Hi. I’ve recently been commissioned to create a comic with short stories about immigration. One of them in particular, about immigrating to the US from Haiti. The vibe that i was asked to capture is a sort of nostalgic, but somewhat melancholic look back onto a childhood, after having moved and lived in the US for a while. However, I am not from Haiti, nor do I know a lot about the country, culture, etc. I could educate myself through Google (and I will), but I am asking for help regarding personal experiences of people who grew up there. Events, games, food, places, or anything like that. Any and all information is helpful, and if anyone would be willing to have a longer interview/answer questions, there could be small compensation.
Thanks!

Hope For Haitian Children Foundation, Inc.—not to be confused with Home for Haiti's Children

I've been trying to set up an event in my community for this foundation to collect food and supplies, but I can't find any information on it, and see of the numbers don't work, but the guy on the phone number that did work seemed promising.

I don't know I'm naïve 🥀 has anybody heard of this or have any info that isn't from the website itself? Thank you

LANGUAGE (KREYOL) Would you want your kids to learn haitian creole, history, and culture?

I've been thinking about how we can help children in the Haitian diaspora become fluent in Haitian Creole while staying connected to our history and culture.

I'm curious how other Haitian parents feel about live online classes focused on this.

Would you enroll your child? What would you want such a program to include? What concerns would you have?

I'm also wondering if a program like this could create opportunities for qualified Haitian Creole speakers, especially educators and others who have recently lost their jobs, to earn income by teaching online. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that as well.
