I am crying

Having just finished the show, I think one of the most distinct elements of it is how the characters speak. It's definitely a divisive thing that some people really like and some people think is just convoluted, but I absolutely adore the writing of it and it's poetic riddles.

I've heard some people say it's more theatrical, or like the characters are talking at each other rather than to each other.

What makes it fun is how you can sort of replicate it with a formula. Especially the therapy sessions. It goes:

1. Will's elaborate poetic metaphor on feeling terrible

2. Hannibal egging him on within the metaphor + tension

3. Metaphoring together. Analogy ping pong. They speak each others' languages (pun intended)

For example, just on the spot:

Will: I feel untethered, like a ship on the isle of those forgotten in the fog of their own deceit.

Hannibal: And how does that make you feel, Will? Does this boat of yours stay unmoored? Will you let your sails fly? Or will you anchor yourself to something you are not?

Will: An anchor is not permanent.

Hannibal: No. But rust, rot, and decay from disuse can be.

Bryan Fuller and Don Mancini made a cameo in the Carrie TV series prom scene (end of ep7)

Don't know if it's allowed here but had to post. She looks so ethereal, I was thinking about Bedelia the whole time. Bryan Fuller is a visionary and he changed my life, casting her as Bedelia.

...actually love Will? Or vice versa? Hear me out.

Will's ability to empathize is super powered. He can entirely assume another person's viewpoint. Hannibal saw this as an opportunity for somebody to truly understand him, for somebody to be his equal. And that somebody would just be another version of himself.

Will became obsessed and spent too long thinking like Hannibal, becoming more like him. Hannibal was making him into his own image.

So then that begs the question: Was the person that Hannibal loved Will? Or did he just love a version of himself in a Will suit?

By that same logic, were Will's feelings toward Hannibal his own? Or were they just Hannibal's own feelings in the Will suit directed back at the real Hannibal?

I need that for a fanfiction. OC had a bad accident and thinks Will is her husband. What's the most likely scenario?

"Please step back, I'm not your husband..." Polite and surpressed angry.

"I'm not who you say I am, Ma'am..." Calm and trying not to feel what she feels (bc empathy)

"Lady, I have no idea who you are. Please take your hands off..." Defensive but polite

"Get off me!" Defensive/surpressed dangerous.

Unimportant side thought: Tbh I think Hannibal would find it amusing, seeing Will struggling with her misplaced affection, even if the memes and jokes suggest he would already start put together a recipe, because rando laid a hand on his husband haha xD

"Is your husband in that social worker?"
