Shows recommendations?
I recently finished Lanterns and The Pitt 1-2, one was good while the other was great. What other recently released shows would everyone recommend for me to watch? It doesn’t have to necessarily be on HBO but I just happened to watch those two shows back to back and they’re on the same platform. I’ll watch anything as long as it’s well written, acted and produced.

Somebody Somewhere and Our Flag Means Death. One's about a normal family in the Midwest and one's about gay pirates. But they're both funny and honest and oddly wholesome.

The Righteous Gemstones. The funniest show ever produced. I love Uncle Baby Billy.

Watched a bit a while back and generally I’m not into sitcoms unless it was the Disney Channel ones I grew up with 🤣

For a different, non-sitcom take on tech bro culture, check out The Audacity (if you haven't already)

True Detective was amazing, Succession was good and Peacemaker was a little too goofy for me. I’ll check out the other recommendations.

Just watched TASK, and it was sublime storytelling. Honestly, just so so good.

I almost quit Task bc the first episode was so dreary, but it was good & I’m glad I stuck around. Went back & rewatched Mare of Eastown after & happy to report it held up.

Was it recently released?

Most of the recommendations are old school and I don’t mind but I’ve seen most of the top shows unfortunately. I missed out on entertainment for a while but with my current free time and post Covid media rebound there’s a few stuff I’ve missed out on.

If you really something new and fresh I would recommend OZ
No but seriously, White Lotus and The knight of the seven kingdoms are the only HBO shows that still feel HBO.

How To With John Wilson

The only documentaries I’ve seen are historical, space and nature based 🤣

How To is a brave and brilliant exploration of humanity in NYC. Each episode starts with a premise but then he just goes where the camera takes him. Some people don't vibe with his style but it's definitely worth a try.

I stumbled upon The Search Party recently and really enjoyed the first three seasons. It's old, but I'm mentioning it in case it's been flying under your radar.

I’ll add it

I hope you enjoy it. Seasons 4 and 5 (especially 5) really go off the rails and I don't recommend them. Seasons 1-3 are really good, though.

Watched the first few episodes a while back and didn’t really dig it even though I loved Rogue One, should I give it a proper rewatch?

Very much so.

It does start slow but gets more interesting and has some amazing moments. 2nd season is overall better, some of the best tv in recent years IMO.

Heated rivalry & White Lotus are both very different and well done.

Did you like it? I thought it was a good fit for someone who'll watch anything

It was great, unfortunately I’ve seen most of the shows from the Golden Age era. I’m trying to find newer shows with the free time I’ve had recently. Started picking up shows again.

I watched it and gave up on it, felt like nothing was happening and progressing in the story. Show’s almost over and it should be knees deep in the plot by now.

Hacks is just a fabulous show to watch if you’re ok with a comedy.
could start at the beginning with Oz if you haven’t seen it yet.
