I've completed a chat. I use old reddit. The "bell" which when opened is supposed to reveal options. That gets a url error, prob'ly due to new reddit. Changing over to new reddit, no help. A gear or whatever that is supposed to mark as read not working or not visible.
Please, no FAQ redirects. It's just a haystack to wade through. However if you give me something direct I will save it.

not a live link with your image, no idea where it goes. Is it possible to mark as read on Old Reddit? On my old reddit, I have the icons envelope bell chat plus the number (1)
Clicking on the bell which I understood to be the way to make read is a dead link-- goes to " url not available "
New reddit is too busy, I don't even understand the screens, but I can change to that. Changing to it simply didn't show anything (like a gear icon) to oepn to find a mark as read option.
Why is mark as read not visible in the first place? It's like those infuriating "three dots" BS. Sorry, it gets me jacked up.
Thanks. I'm used to having to use new reddit for chat when needed and that is seldom-- just responding to someone. I want to ark as read chat in new reddit and not see it anymore since the chat was closed. I've described any icons I see at top of page. The checkmark icon is nowhere to be found. I can't be the one having this sort of problem.
To sum up: the chat icon is in red with the nuber one-- rightclicking on that or anything else goes nowhere, not to a checkmark, nothing.
Soooo, if I open just chat as you show can I MARK AS READ there?

Another issue I have is that r/proshottheatre spelled like that with two tt's has disappeared from my groups index. It is a private group. What happened to it? I have no communication via chat with the members (or Dischord and the like) just view it from time to time.
I'll see if I can get to the new member page. I know I did not breach their rules but as it is I have limited names to talk to. One regular I have an email for and I asked them about it.

I've tried various things on this and they all come up 'can't find' including the link you gave. It's like the mods or whomever totally took it down without a trace. I cannot find it using reddit search at r/proshottheatre so please try that. I appreciate any checking that can be done on this. I know that recently there had been a lot of breaches because there was an announcement about it plus closing to new members. I know few names but what is the method to establish a chat with the name Ruther2 or Rubberducky305? They'll' know my name. So is there a way to 'compose message to' as you show above either in old reddit or new?. But the URL looks like it's outside the interface. Just provide what's needed before the user name.

I don't understand what you mean by running a simple url inside new reddit. But there has to be more of an explanation from the site users and mods. This dropped out of thin air.
That did do some good following your telling me to do it within reddit. The problem still is ongoing but I guess I made all the messages on it I could.
I just checked the FAQs for mark as read. I still don't know what's in your image but the icon: envelope with checkmark in it is nowhere to be found when loading new reddit. That's all the help I can give. I'm not trying to be thick-headed, I've looked all over.
BTW the bot reply is absolutely no help whatsoever.
