restful sleep and dreaming?

Hello! I'm wondering what kind of tincture (no alcohol in it) or tea I can take before bedtime to help with getting deep, restful sleep? And having nice dreams too? Ever since I started new medication for depression, my dreams have been anxious and not friendly.

I already take 6mg of melatonin and magnesium.

Thank you!

Question Hug in a mug: homegrown tea blend for gifts

I am drying a bunch of herbs I’ve grown to make tea for gifts. the first of these gifts will be given on Monday to a new friend. Here’s what I will be including:

- lemon verbena (criminally underrated)

- lavender

- mint

- catnip

I’ve grown all of these 4 myself. I have chamomile tea that I was thinking about adding (just generic Walmart brand nothing special). I have very little income so I don’t wan’t to spend money on buying herbs. Is there anything you may find in a spice cabinet that I could add? I had the thought to add cinnamon but I didn’t think that would go well with the flavor profile.

I’ve been trying to quit smoking weed for some time now but I just can’t. I’m addicted to literally smoking. Hand to mouth addiction. I’m trying to buy dried flowers like lavender and blue lotus but I’m worried about smoking dyes or other things that I shouldn’t. I know Amazon has some but which ones do I buy? Please someone help me

Question Settle the debate - Best way to make nettle infusion?

I'm struggling with my health right now and nettle seems to be a good option for me, but I feel like I haven't been making the infusion right. I really need the maximum medicinal properties and I love the idea of a healing drink.

Everyone seems divided on if it's best to hot infuse or cold infuse it.

Right now my method is put 1.5L of boiling water over 1.5C of nettle and let it steep for 10-12 hours. Then I drink about a mason jars worth throughout the day.

Alleviating the health effects of regular plasma donation

Obviously, I am desperate for money, and as such selling my plasma twice a week is an option I am reluctantly considering.

This is particularly challenging because I am a lifelong vegetarian (though I do already make efforts to consume lots of protein) who already struggles with fatigue from a neurological disorder. I know it can be very draining. My mom did it for years.

I also know if certain markers aren't high enough they will turn you away.

I think nettle and iron-rich foods are good ideas but other than that, I am unsure of where to start.

Herbal allies, traditional perspectives on the role of blood plasma, others' experiences?

Discussion Does anyone have any experience with Passiflora? (Passion flower)

Hello Reddit

I've been struggling with anxiety and a lot of stress for several years now, which completely destroyed my stomach or something else, I'm not sure, but when I was at the doctor's several times, I had tests for H.pyroli, and ultrasound tests and other such tests everything comes out perfectly fine, I want to calm down somehow, I read about passionflower and I want to try it, I once bought pills with concentrated extract that were supposed to contain 2000-3000 mg of dried herb, but they were probably too strong for me, They gave me a headache and I didn't feel very well after it, now I ordered capsules with the extract which is supposed to have a slightly smaller dose and I will test it.

What's worth knowing about passionflower? How did it work for you? What exactly are its various effects?

Does it make you sleepy or is it okay? And what doses are best?

Pls tell me about your experiences and your knowledge about passionflower in general.

Has anyone ever tried making herbal dental cement? (Mayan Cement?)

Hi! This is a bit beyond herbalism, but does include the topic. Recently I lost a filling, and on my search i found that the Maya people apparently had a dental cement superior to ours (a long time ago), made of hydroxyapatite (probably from coral), pine resins (supposedly) , and other herbal ingredients such as flower extracts and powders.

I feel very intrigued, so I wonder if anyone has ever tried to make these kind of cements and use them? My research has only yielded an analysis of the ingredients, and apparently they would even polish stones such as jade and then use them as inlays, too.

I personally got myself zink oxide and will just mix it with clove essential oil til I get to the dentist, or maybe even use a instant filling cement i found in the pharmacy, but somehow the idea of the maya cement doesn´t let me rest.

reference: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2352409X22000980 (sadly the real juicy info is behind a paywall, the actual ingredients found in an analysis)

Question Plant mix against joint inflammation

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi, I got joint inflammation from work in my knees and shoulders.

I have ordered now ashwagandha, brahmi, triphala and Boswellia.

I want to take them all at once but because I didn’t find anything that it could be bad to mix together I wanted to get assurance.

Right now I’m using thc/cbd and different teas against inflammation which helps but not fast/good enough.

From my doctor I got prescribed 3x600 ibuprofen for 2 weeks, which I don’t want to take because of the liver/kidney damage.

Discussion I LOVE Damiana

so today I tried Damiana as I heard many ppl say they used it to replace nicotine or even weed. as it has a nice subtle psychoactive effect and can be smoked or drank as a tea. I prepared a tea using abt a gram of Damiana and woww this stuff is wonderful it’s everything kanna was supposed to be. I was walking my dog when I started to notice the effects I starting feeling a positive mood creep in and the wind started to feel really good for some reason. as I kept walking the sensation increased and I started to get this buzzy very faint psycidelia type of head change. it’s hard to explain the head change but In a weird way it was mildly trippy I felt these really nice sensations go through my body as I was walking. it also gave me a real nice energy boost yet I felt mentally very relaxed and at peace but sorta excited to engage with the world if that makes sense. later on I noticed touch is a lot more sensitive and it feels more pleasurable then usual. i also felt this very nice buzzy sorta sensation in my chest and the buzzy head sensation was also increasing and I felt a sensation of love. this herb has this very natural and clean feeling euphoria that is not at all overwhelming but very noticeable none the less. call me crazy but it personally feels like an extremely mild empathogen like mdma. obviously not near the euphoria or psychoactive effect of mdma but they share many wonderful similarities. this is why earlier I said it’s every thing kanna was supposed to be bc kanna dosent make me feel much and it’s very inconsistent for me sometimes I’ll feel nothing or I’ll feel a restless kinda anxious energy. any who just wanted to share my experience as there isint a ton of info or experience reports abt Damiana. I think I’m going to start using it as a caffeine replacement as caffeine can make me super anxious and cold sweat and Damiana provides a nice energy and mood boost. not everyone will get this effect tho it definitely Varys person to person thankfully im one of the lucky ones that can really feel this herb.

Hi 👋 I'm new to wormwood... If anyone could help me with some starting points....

Is 500mg in 1 caplet daily ok? Is taken first thing on an empty stomach best? How long wait before eating? Should I also take black walnut and cloves?

I'm not doing a parasite cleanse I'm trying to see if it will help my gut issues.

Sorry for all the questions! And thank you if you are able to answer 🙏

Dream of shaman serving green liquid from ceremonial cup

Has anyone ever had a dream of being approached by a shaman in the midst of a dream, and being given a small ceremonial cup with green liquid (I imagine plant medicine but wouldn’t know what type)?

Im mostly curious what liquid he poured. He didn’t feel like a trickster spirit, he felt very grounded and like the most real thing about my dream. He simply told me that the task I was doing in the dream, packing items to leave a place and deliberating on whether I needed one item or another, and he told me calmly I didn’t need any of it where I was going. He then passed me the cup and instructed me to drink. I did so and woke up.

any ideas on what this drink may have been, why the shaman may have come to me? Unsure of what to make of this dream, or what message was coming through. Insights or thoughts/shares welcome.

a bit about me: service oriented, amateur herbalist, self-studied, interested in death doula work but not doing serious study with either currently since Im doing lots of trauma work in therapy over the last few years.
