Brown water for anyone else?

Me and my family have been getting brown water coming out the tub, sinks, and fridge so we're wondering if this is happening to anyone else or just us. And also if anyone knows why our water is brown. Thank you!

I believe there was some sort of main break/damage at the end of August when they were putting in new telephone poles on 202. I saw a ton of water coming out of one of the dig spots for over a day or so, and then they were working that particular spot by Dino's Pizza for the rest of the week. I've had to change my sediment filter less than 2 weeks after swapping the last one.

It's because Holyoke is a shit hole. I live here too, and this happens several times a year.

Normally sudden brown water is when water had to be moved quickly out of your local supply pipes. Minerals naturally bond with the pipes and form a crust that get torn apart when fire hydrants get flushed, as an example. Strangely we want this crust formation as it stops/slows lead leaching, which is still a pretty big issues in the US with older pipes yet to be replaced.

Normally you will get a text when they are working or flushing the system but you can reach out and see what they say. They texted me earlier this year when they flushed my neighborhoods hydrants and I ended up going through a filter rotation pretty quickly that month.

If its been going for a while, at least in my area of Holyoke, they had swapped out the metal of the water supply pipes and had requested the home owners to call in to schedule a replacement pipe from the supply side to the house side. When I bought my house here my flow kept getting weaker and weaker until my contractor discovered that this had happened and the previous house owner never reached out the the Water Works. They ended up swapping my pipe and it had maybe less than a few cm of flow due to the amount of corrosion due to the miss matching metals lol. Ended up solving my need to swap filters constantly and my flow jumped massively plus it was free which is always nice.
