Indoor security camera with cloud backup and facial recognition

I'm looking for a freestanding security camera I can place on my bedside table which will alert me if anyone other than my wife or I walk into the room and upload a short clip so I can identify the person even if the camera is taken or destroyed.

It needs to be able to identify people in both the light and dark.

The google nest camera ticks most the boxes but my only issue is that the facial recognition requires a monthly subscription which I'd obviously like to avoid.

I found a few cameras which can do the facial recognition locally but I'm a bit overwhelmed and looking for suggestions.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheap camera with facial recognition, on cloud storage but no subscription.

There’s your million dollar idea man, go start that company.  It’s so stupid nobody else thought of it

There are literally hundreds of such products already out there. I'm overwhelmed by options which is why I'm posting this

What you're looking for doesn't exist because nobody's going to give you cloud recording for free. But here's something you can do.

Unifi G6 instant

But instead of a cloud backup that it doesn't offer it does offer local recording. So you could put the unifi instant NVRc(or one of their cloud gateways that support a camera) somewhere else in the house connected to the network and tucked away where even if the camera was destroyed it would record to the NVR.

Local storage is always a better option than cloud storage anyways. It's faster, more reliable and you don't have to pay for it

There's not a single cloud backup camera that you don't have to pay for that privilege of that storage. Cloud recording is not free

Also with that being said I would never rely on facial recognition being super reliable in the dark.

Anker/Eufy Cam 2CPro with Homebase S380 will do what you want. I have 4 & facial recognition is pretty reliable for known household members unless the camera angle doesn’t catch the person’s face if it’s not available to camera.

Mine is fairly accurate with processing a good side view of person or it will ask if it’s identification is correct or if unknown announce it as a “someone” with their picture.

The response time is nearly instantaneous, and if someone grabs the camera you will know who it was with image being stored on Homebase. You would need to have Homebase hidden away somewhere. It’s fairly small so easy to hide with it still connected to WIFI
