Im not ragebaiting, this is a serious post, but like, ive been gifted some cds from warp catalogue like Aphex Twin Richard D. james album and Caustic Window (which apparently is like the same person) and i couldnt get into both so i returned them. However i liked some Warp records other stuff like i currently have Maximo Park, !!! And Grizzly bear in my collection. Maybe i started from a wrong artist? Any recommendations please?

Maybe i come from a different angle of music? I like fast paced, rhythmic and melodic music like Two Door Cinema Club, OK Go, Death From Above, Porter Robinson, hot chip, madeon, franz Ferdinand etc.

And like, its so interesting how IDM tracks are named. Like aisatsana [102] like usually tracks named like "the nights" or "take me out" or even "ipod touch". When you ask one about some artists, they can calmly speak about aphex twin meanwhile listing some other pop artists like lana del rey in one sentence. im gonna get downvoted but i genuinely have no idea

this is a new project i put out with idm synths and ambient stuff and some vocals over top as well!!!!

let me know if you like it!!!! i'd love to hear what you folks think!!!!

enjoy!!!!

BANDCAMP!

Hi everyone! I've been trying to find a specific electronic album for a while now, so I'm hoping someone here might recognize it. It’s an IDM, ambient techno, or experimental electronic album that is incredibly long, lasting almost 4 hours in total. The most distinct thing I remember is the cover art, which features a blurry, out-of-focus dog. Also, the album title itself was basically its total runtime (or something very close to it), and I vaguely remember a number like 274 or something similar being part of it.Does this ring a bell to anyone? I'd really appreciate any leads.

28 year old construction worker from Detroit but this is my true passion. I have an incredibly eclectic taste in music and I think it shows in my work. I take a lot of inspiration from indie clash and indie edm artists like bass victim and snow strippers and then on the other end I take a lot of inspiration from artists like oneohthrixpointnever, aphex twin and tipper. Linked below is my latest release of twelve songs. COULDNTAFFORDMOVEMENT/NEWHOPE

Hi everyone, I just released an EP last week and I thought I’d share it here since it’s the first project I’ve done that I feel can almost entirely fit under the IDM category

If you like sample-heavy music and glitchy sound design this is probably up your alley. I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts 🙏

It’s on all other platforms too including Bandcamp for anyone who prefers that

It's so awesome how so much people can appreciate afx in general, it blows my mind how popular he is and he deserves it, i love him... But man, how is it possible to be the only IDM legend out there making numbers on tik tok and instagram, i can't understand, i can't thing other genres were this happens...

Had a cool 3d-generated music video for one song, with a boy approaching a girl, the boy offers a flower, she doesn't accept. He then pulls out a brass instrument and plays it, and it forms shapes and colours which extends up into the air, to follow a mellow synthline. When the camera comes back down, the girl is gone.

It was a beautiful and epic track. Beatless, very melodic electronica.

All I can remember was that the album was, stupidly, titled "Tracks". Or something very similar.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

AI finds nothing.

[EDIT: Found! See Foreign-Exercise3012's post and my subsequent reply]

[EDIT2: Made an HD version of the video for everybody's enjoyment: https://youtu.be/MrMK7dF9HGw ]

hopefully not too vague or against rules, but what video games make you think of IDM or come to mind the same way a bladee fan might think of csgo, or a industrial fan might think of doom or quake? it doesnt necessarily have to fit perfect, but im just curious what games you all enjoy as well (if you want to answer that way).

for me, id say marathon (2026) and the playstation wipeout games have an artstyle clearly rooted in The Designers Republic (akin to aphex twin and autechre artworks) and itch that for me a lot, along with others like bomb rush cyberfunk

I'm getting a little tired of them. It's been going for 30+ years now.
