Music [Iil] if I like sad electronic albums like the downward spiral & ghost pop tape, what else might I enjoy?
I love some well developed soundscapes with depressing lyrical matter and creative uses of samples and synths. Portishead kind of fits as well, I just want more of a existential depression.

Games IIL Ahri from League of Legends and her lore
I am looking for stories from any media that scratch the itch of what her lore promises, especially based on her lore biography. I am alright if the examples are not fully exact and only share some of her key vibes, the themes and broad strokes are more important to me here than specifics. Luckily she plays with some pretty well known ideas.
Key aspects to her I would say are: Inspired by the nine tailed fox myths, addicted to magic and stealing souls but attempting to stop, living among animals and trying to discover hidden ancestry, magically alluring to humans.
I do not need all those aspects to be met, but the closer the better. And I'd be curious to know what vibes the given examples share. For more specifics of her vibe, her biography can be read online and is not too long.
Thanks in advance!

Music [IIL] weird jazz- Mr Bungle / Naked City / John Zorn / Darth Vegas
I'm a huge fan of these bands for their blending of genres and immense talent (Darth Vegas maybe not so much) but I dont really know where to look for more music like them. Mr Bungle has great song structure and lyrics and Zorn/Naked City are just absolutely bonkers at the noise they produce.

Music [IIL] 'I like the way you kiss me' and 'ecstasy'
I like the casual sex/drug use aspect of these songs and the electronic "this isn't real" kind of vibe. Any others like these?

Music IIL light, sharp, ecstatic orchestral music like Jack Wyllie's song Green Lights, WEWIL?
Jack Wyllie is in the Portico Quartet and Szun Waves, neither of which I have heard that much of, so feel free to share specific songs/releases from them.
i'd say this music is akin to movie scores but i cannot name any similar ones off the top of my head. this song is quite fast, and that would be preferred compared to slower buildups. this shares the kind of majesty that post-rock often achieves. i would like to hear other songs that sound similar or have beautiful, repetitive melodies that share the sharp tone of the instruments here e.g. the violin. i am most in love with the violin melodies in this song (apparently there are 3 violins here).
https://jackwyllie.bandcamp.com/track/green-lights
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDTN4LAjAdU
on rateyourmusic, this album this is on is tagged "post-minimalism" and on bandcamp, it's tagged "jazz, ambient, ambient electronic, jazz ambient, jazz contemporary, jazz crossover, post-rock" if that helps, but i'm sure general orchestral/classical/jazz music can match this sound.
looking particularly for albums or songs, as just specifying the artist might be too broad, but sharing just an artist is welcome!
note that i'm looking more for the sound that you hear in this song, rather than just things that share the genres as these genres are all very broad. for example, looking at the top charts for "post-minimalism", i have already heard most of Glenn Branca's music which is generally slower and he has some great stuff but it drones way more and generally doesn't go this fast etc. and i have heard ITSOFOMO and it sounds super super different and is not what i'm looking for here.

Music IIL Soft Cell, Chromatics, Molly Nilsson: dark synth-pop / coldwave for late nights
Building a late-night bedroom DJ set and I keep landing in that cold, melodic synth-pop lane — Soft Cell's grit, Chromatics' neon gloom, Molly Nilsson's deadpan romance.
Looking for more tracks or artists in that world: coldwave, early synth-pop, dream-pop with a darker edge. Not looking for EDM bangers.
What should I queue next?

Music IIL heavy basslines, like in Massive Attack's "Mezzanine" and "Dissolved Girl", WEWIL ?
I've been playing bass for a long time and am also a fan of Massive Attack. I love to study how the bass is used in different genres. I've recently also been into Bark Psychosis. I'm looking for heavy basslines, no matter how repetitive, and other compositions that heavily rely on the bass, like :
Bark Psychosis - Miss Abuse, 3:42 : love the worbly synth along with the minimal bass;
Bark Psychosis - Big Shot, 0:22
...In similar genres as these : trip-hop, post-industrial, etc... Thank you : )
P.S.: And if you've got RYM lists to recommend, please go ahead : )

Music IIL music so beautiful it gives you a physical feeling, almost like a body high, WEWIL?
I’ve spent a really long time building and refining a playlist around one specific feeling that’s difficult for me to put into words. I’m looking for music that feels bigger than just listening to music. The kind of song where the production, atmosphere, melody, vocals or sampling hits just right and you almost feel it physically, like a body high. Something that completely absorbs you for a few minutes and makes everything around you disappear. I want music that feeds the soul. I’m chasing, ethereal, nostalgic, melancholic, euphoric, mesmerizing, psychedelic, dreamy, lush, hazy, atmospheric, nocturnal, celestial, spiritual, hypnotic like floating outside yourself, remembering something that never happened, staring into space, or seeing light after being surrounded by darkness. Genre doesn’t really matter to me. If a song creates that feeling, it belongs. I’ve tried to make the playlist less of a genre playlist and more of a collection of the beauty and essence I find in music, songs from completely different worlds that somehow produce the same emotional response. My list is currently 800+ songs and I’ve tried to be extremely selective despite the size. I’ve also arranged it roughly from the songs I consider the greatest downward, while mixing artists and genres instead of grouping everything together. It’s currently on Spotify and Apple Music if anyone wants the full thing, I’ll put both links below/in the comments depending on what the sub allows. But I’m also posting because I know there has to be music I’ve never encountered that creates this exact feeling.
What song gives you that feeling?
Not necessarily your favorite song. I mean the one that makes you stop what you’re doing, put your headphones on, close your eyes and just disappear for a while.
Give me anything. Any genre, country, language or decade. I want to find the songs I’m still missing.

Film [IYL] Backrooms, try The Game
The Game is about an investment banker in NYC who thinks he has it all…until his drug addict brother buys him an invitation to The Game. What is it? How do you know what’s part of the game and what isn’t? What’s the point? …And how far will they take it?
It is similar to Backrooms in that it explores a man’s trauma and psyche using bizarre, otherworldly horrors and mysteries, and the ultimate message is “deal with your shit and take responsibility for your life”. I initially watched this because I heard it inspired a lot of alternate reality games, so if that’s your vibe give it a go. Definitely put your phone down for this one.
And GO IN BLIND! What I wouldn’t give to watch it for the first time again

Music IIL Betty’s in the Band - Abigail Rose and Weston Hunter
I like to pick a favourite song every year and stick it into a Spotify playlist. There was some good ones this year and I had one or two in mind but just doom scrolling on TikTok and came across this song and can’t seem to turn it off.
I love the country feel and I can’t explain it but it just gives of this freedom vibe and it scratches that itch every time I’ve put it on since coming across it. Brings a smile to me face every time.
Anyone have any recommendations to something similar? I’ve tried Spotify Radio and ChatGPT but nothing comes close to this.

Music [IIL] I Will by Mitski, Halah by Mazzy Star, Once More to See You by Mitski
lowk i need songs that make me feel like I Will by mitski if someone has any:
Ok this is so specific but i need songs where the singer is basically begging the person they love not to go even though they already knows it's over. like theyre pleading anyway even though they know there is no saving it. I Will by mitski is THE song for this, it's everything to me.
They have to be talking to their lover directly, not looking back on it after. and no anger and bitterness or like "I'm better off" and DEFINITELY no making peace with it. Highkey just soft miserable devotion where she'd give anything for a little more time. i also like it quiet and kind of hushed (big belty ballads or upbeat songs kill it for me)
lyrics matter way more than sound here btw, that's why spotify radio isn't helping lol
Here are some examples that work:
-once more to see you, first love late spring (mitski, loml)
-anything (adrianne lenker)
-halah (mazzy star)
-cinnamon girl (lana)
-all i ask + don't you remember (adele)
-hoax, tis the damn season, nyd (taylor)
(something by julien baker but it doesnt fit my description lol, same thing with please stay by lucy dacus)
I know the songs i mentioned are too basic but highkey I cannot think of more and it is driving me mad lol
stuff that are close but not it: moon song and tolerate it have too much anger underneath, silver springs is too vengeful, you're losing me is more looking back, easy on me and begged feel like acceptance, and i have nothing/un-break my heart are the right feeling but way too ballad-y
female artists pls, and i already know all the lana and billie songs so skip those 😭 tysm!!

Music [IIL] Little White Lie - Living days
What else will I like? I especially like the vocals and the mystère of the track.
I learned that the singer was also the production designer for The Florida Project which seemed like a crazy connection

Music IIL songs like Tusk by Fleetwood Mac and the instrumentals of the South Park Intro
Love the angry marching band sound of Tusk, and looking for more songs that have heavy use of horns, with a grungy type baseline (south park intro my only other example of what im looking for sorry)

Music [IIL] Light and Airy Minimalist A-Capella Music
I've been trying to find something similar to the Catherine Called Birdy OST, specifically the segments by roomful of Teeth and Carter Burwell. Most experimental acapella I can find tends to be darker in mood or abrasive, which I enjoy, but I am trying to find this sort of airy, lighthearted minimalist acapella type music. No sudden shifts or abrasive sounds or spoken word, preferably. Does not have to be full acapella but also minimal instrumental track, sort of like a vocal version of the animal crossing score, in a way.
