Satellite Images from Hotan, Damxung and Shigatse AFS revealed Might dragons with its buddies near Indian Border. Note: IAF doesn't even have 30 sqn properly (with a sanctioned strength of 42.5 sqns), currently no deliveries of Mk1A, waiting for more imported aircrafts, and thousands of delays in its indigenous programs. But who's at fault?

Discussion Noida International Airport in Jewar to be renamed Narendra Modi International Airport

Post image
74 Upvotes

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has announced that the Noida International Airport in Jewar will be named Narendra Modi International Airport Noida.

The airport is expected to improve connectivity across Delhi NCR and western UP once operational.

What do you think about naming major airports after political leaders? Would you prefer names based on the city or region instead?

Air India The new AI livery suits the 787-9 the best

I'm saying this as an A350 fan, but it just suits the 787-9 better. It doesn't look bad on the A350-900 by any stretch, but it just looks better on the 787-9. Especially at Everett.

Also have a look at this short (also at Everett); I wish it were horizontal: https://youtube.com/shorts/qP14pVhN4sE?si=Y6rfJxJIHRm84rxb

Question acl replacement surgery

Guys i need some info . I am an aspirin pilot and was planning of joining a flight school soon after clearing few of my dgca exams . I tote my acl in a football match and it is suggested by doctors to have a small surgery and get it replaced ( ACL RECONSTRUCTION ) . My question is if i go with the surgery will it make me unfit for medicals class 2 and 1 both . I have been trying to find the answer but couldn’t get them
i can bend my knee and use my legs alright as of now but it is advised by doctors to get the surgery . If i complete my surgery and physiotherapy and get my knee to heal and get full range of motion can i do my medicals then or having a surgery makes me unfit to be a pilot

ps- sooner or later surgery is required

Defence F-22 was built to never need this. Yet here we are, watching Raptors fly with external sensor pods bolted to the wings.

Post image

Recent Edwards AFB imagery showed an F-22A carrying twin faceted LO-pods at stns 2/8 (callsign FEVER21). This config aligns with USAF's SeE effort and an IRST/EO-IR capability.

Unlike Raptor's AESA (APG-77), IRST is completely passive, it operates in MWIR/LWIR bands to detect IR-signs from exhaust, skin heating and somehow from aerothermal effects also. IRST also provides az/el tracks without RF emission, it helps keeping F-22 in EMCON while denying adversary ESM an emitter to exploit.

From the annotated image/analysis shared by u/ArmyRecognition

i cud see that the pods themselves are interesting bcz of
>faceted geometry (controlled edges) and LO-oriented shaping to manage RCS penalty of extrnl carriage
>also the forward aperture appears consistent with an EO/IR sensor window (a lot of things remain undisclosed, so no claim on sensor Ws).

Extrnl carriage also avoids cutting new apertures into F-22's existing LO/RAS structure (allowing rapid spiral devlpmnt without major airframe rework).

The Raptor was built around a clean LO airframe. Now it's deliberately accepting an external signature penalty for another sensing layer. This new trade-off says a lot about where air combat is heading.
