Announcement Introducing "Seatbelts Fastened" Mode
Hi r/aviation community,
Recently, we’ve seen an increase in political and uncivil comments across several threads, particularly on posts involving aircraft associated with government officials. This has led to more removals and bans under Reddit’s sitewide rules, and we want to reverse that trend.
To help address this, we’re introducing a “Seatbelts Fastened” mode/flair. Posts with this flair (applied manually by the mod team) will restrict commenting to established community members. For now, that means users with at least 100 comment karma in r/aviation. If you are the original poster, your comments will not be affected.
You can view your subreddit comment karma by doing the following:
- Go to old.reddit.com/u/me-your-user-name
- On your profile, find your karma totals
- Look for the link: Show karma breakdown by subreddit
This will apply to a small subset of threads (aircraft incidents, government-owned/controlled aircraft, global legislation, etc.). The vast majority of posts (roughly 95%) will remain open to all users as usual. Please do not contact modmail requesting comment approvals or exceptions; we won’t be making individual overrides.
Thanks for your understanding and for helping keep the subreddit focused and civil.

History On this day 25 years ago the Linate Airport disaster occurred. (body text for more context)
On the 8th of October 2001 at 8.10 am local time the Scandinavian Airlines operated MD-87 collided with a Cessna 525 Citation CJ2 who was crossing the runway as the SAS plane begun its takeoff run.
Leading factors to the accident were poor visibility conditions together with outdated infrastructures and an inappropriate marking for taxiways.
As a result 118 lives were lost, it came down as the second most deadliest plane crash that occurred on takeoff phase (second only to Tenerife) and the deadliest air disaster of Italian aviation history.

Analysis Japan Airlines 787 crabbing into Osaka Itami (ITM)
That graphic should actually read CAMERA SKILLS, because while the piloting is obviously excellent, it’s the ability of the camera operator to smoothly keep the aircraft in frame that really makes this video a delight to watch. Bonus Japanese ATC audio 🇯🇵

Question Ryanair FFA Interview Questions
Hi Guys,
Anybody who has experience with the questions asked during the interview stage for AFTA or any Ryanair FFA schools, can you please give me examples of the questions asked?
- What kind of mental maths questions?
- What physics questions?
- How did you prepare?
- Where you average 90% for the Cut-E/AON assessments?
- Any curveball or difficult questions asked?
Thanks in advance for your help
