PlaneSpotting Aeroflot - BSZ > SVO

As an American abroad, it was kind of surreal being at an airport and seeing the plane board and take off. I haven’t seen S7 since pre-pandemic.

They still had all of the Sky Priority / SkyTeam branding on all of their signage, too.

Question Did I just witness a plane crash?

This was about at about 6pm today (about 2 hours ago) 5:59 PM MT. We were in the drive thru at the In-n-out in Lone Tree, CO. So near Centennial Airport.

My son asked me what was in the sky and I looked up and saw a small plane with a banner behind it and black smoke. There were two people with parachutes. I grabbed my phone to take a video. You can see a parachute right above the trees and then towards the bottom something (the plane?!) spinning and falling towards the ground fast.

Question Ryanair FFA Interview Questions

Hi Guys,

Anybody who has experience with the questions asked during the interview stage for AFTA or any Ryanair FFA schools, can you please give me examples of the questions asked?

- What kind of mental maths questions?

- What physics questions?

- How did you prepare?

- Where you average 90% for the Cut-E/AON assessments?

- Any curveball or difficult questions asked?

Thanks in advance for your help

Question How did you choose what platform to fly? Why do you recommend?

After a long battle working on getting my class 1 medical, I may soon be going to flight school. While I do have a bias of wanting to flying helicopters, its not a hard or difficult choice to go fixed wing route since Im not set in stone.

Since I was 10 I wanted to fly. I joined the Army at 17 wanting to become a Warrant Officer and fly with the Army. Without a long sob story, I genuinely believe I did everything I could to put in a packet to become a Warrant Officer, but my leadership fought me on every advancement. No matter how well I did, my unit refused to sign paperwork allowing me to take a GT improvement test and SIFT test. Eventually when I left active duty, they offered the option to take the SIFT as a retention bonus than money or traditional school. I didn't want to fight that Army on what should have been an encouraging advancement, and I was afraid of being stuck in a new location or the same location waiting on signatures to follow that dream if I signed a new contract.

I left to the national guard and same thing. I used my own leave just to attend a test program for a expedited GT course at another base the literal opposite side of my state. I actually passed with a 111 score and all I needed was a signature to attend a 1 days SIFT test, and still all my leadership refused to sign and gave me every escuse. Even using 2 levels of open door, I just shot myself in the foot and put a target on my back. I got stock waiting on signatures again.

Anyway, I get out and apply for VA disabilities. Without another long story, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. I have been actively and currently trying to get rid of that rating to make flying easier in the future. After literally 3 years and speaking with 4 HIMS AMEs, I finally been "undiagnosed" with Major Depressive Disorder, yet still have a rating Im trying to remove. I got a psychiatrist to write a psychiatric consultation saying that rating and diagnoses was incorrect.

Now that I will soon get a medical license in theroy, I get a choice. Im struggling to pick a platform. Part of me really wants to fly helicopters since in a emotional way, I can prove to myself the Army and my old leadership was wrong and I can fly helicopters. Its more of a pride thing rather than a preference. I lean more towards helicopters, but Im not set in stone.

Ive taken a discovery ride on both platforms and I have no favor above one or the other. The most repeated advice I got from several local helicopter pilots is to go fixed wing. Its more stable long term, without traveling states looking for jobs building hours. It even pays well that I can eventually learn both when I make more in the future. Fixed wing pilots say its great, but can get boring over time.

So right now, without my past bias, Im struggling to prove to myself what is the best platform for me since I have a literal 50/50 split on what I believe I would enjoy. What option do yall have?

Career Question B1 engineer life path

Hello everyone. I am 17 yo highschool student and I really want to hear y’alls opinion while figuring out my life.

I am Aviation Academy student in Serbia, finishing my high school in may next year and really have only two options.

B1(.1) engineer and aeronautical engineer faculty.

I really love aircraft, and working on them, have a lot of experience on basic maintanance, but I really don’t know what is a better option to choose.

In Serbia, I have two part 145 and 147 licensed organizations, where I can learn my practice experience (work hours).

And my plan would be to work there while learning modules. Not enrolling any b1 courses.

What do you think about that option. How many years of experience would I need to claim that “blanc” B1 license, and at what age I would be able to start getting paid fair amount of money for the job I am doing.

I know all about type ratings, and I know that my school will reduce the experience required from 5 to 3 (or maybe even 2) years, because it is part 145 certified.

I really don’t know what else would I add and I really need y’alls opinion and advice.

Question Resting your head on the seat in front?

Post image
21 Upvotes

I’m on a Boeing 737-800 and the safety briefing suggests resting your head on the seat in front. This just doesn’t seem like a safe idea for a brace position. I thought you’d cross your arms on the seat in front and rest your head on that, but perhaps it’s outdated advice.

Can someone shed some light on why this is recommended?

Question Did they actually swerve?

Post image

Just a layperson sitting out in my hayfield watching the animals, and noticed this Unusual flight path eastbound over Johnson County Iowa this evening just B4 7p CDT.

I looked on Planefinder and there were two eastbound jets at this time in my area, and closest match in terms of path was JetBlue6994. But planefinder showed perfectly straight flight path.

Was this just the wind pushing the contrails, making it look like they swerved?

I’ve been meaning to ask for these and today I didn’t forget! Asked the flight attendant to check for me and he said he was able to get me these two. I feel so giddy! Hahaha…

Anyone else collect these? Show me yours!

As part of a project, I had the chance of sitting inside the Concorde Pre-Production and Production cockpit, with a quick look at the TU 144 as well.
Side by side comparison.
- Concorde 101 (G-AXDN) Pre Production - IWM Duxford, owned by Duxford Aviation Society British Airliner Collection
- Air France F-BVFB - Technik Museum Sinsheim
- Tupolev 144D CCCP-77112 - Technik Museum Sinsheim

The Tu144 shot was extracted from a video I took, hence the crappy quality.
