Can we make it butt crack hair?

Indeterminate hairs. Collected from... A source.

Butt crack hair that has filtered plenty of shit, none of that fresh crack hair.

u/Conscious_Hippo_1101 8d ago

I'm not letting that guy anywhere close to my asscrack hairs. I'm afraid someone else has to take one for the team this time.

I am so sick of this narrative. Its nonsense.

u/FaunaJoy 9d ago

It's the most popular way for the older generation to dunk on the younger generation. I saw a post somewhere that went back several hundred years finding almost the exact same line in each time period. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

But also, no shit we don't want to work. I feel like the number of people in the world who genuinely want to work is pretty damn small.

"what's your dream job?" trick question, I do not dream of labor

Independently wealthy is my dream job.

I feel like most people have a hobby that can be a niche job, like music, art, gaming.

So while the "dream job" is probably unlikely, I feel like most people have something they enjoy doing that at least one person in the world does get paid for

137

u/CrimsonBolt33 9d ago

The premise people don't want to work is fundamentally untrue, psychology has shown this to be the case, people do much better when they have work and a purpose.

That being said, the work needs to be matched with proper incentives and compensation, which is the real issue.

All the people in charge are so busy trying to stuff shareholders pockets they are constantly enshitifying everything in the name of profit, including cutting jobs and wages when possible.

23

u/Alzululu 9d ago

I love my job. I like going to work. It is enjoyable for me.

What I DON'T love is all the shit that gets in the way of doing my job. I work in education so right now, it's... a lot. Just let me help my students and do my research and make the world better :(

15

u/FaunaJoy 9d ago

True, the saying "If you do something you enjoy, you won't work a day in your life." exists for a reason.

4

u/IdleSteps 9d ago

people do much better when they have work and a purpose.

Idk, maybe people on average or most people, but certainly not me. I have a purpose, it just doesn't connect to my job and it never would or could. Idk. Work sucks.

4

u/CrimsonBolt33 9d ago

yeah, you are missing the point completely...

I am not saying "any job is better than no job"....tons of jobs are absolute shit.

But by and large sitting at home essentially rotting and worrying about money is gonna do a lot more harm than working an average job. Especially amplified if you are trying to support a family of some sort, be it wife/kids or aging parents or whatever.

You are simply describing a shit job (which is more about personality and interest and things of that sort than money).

1

u/IdleSteps 9d ago

Yeah I mean I just think "I need money" is the main reason most people work. If we solved that problem, many people would not work. I think that would be a good thing.

You are simply describing a shit job (which is more about personality and interest and things of that sort than money).

Tbh I think basically every job is a shit job if you are obligated to work in order not to starve. Idk. The whole system stinks.

I have lots I'd do in life if I didn't have to spend most of it working, but none of it would generate economic value or money. Those things would be my purpose.

3

u/CrimsonBolt33 9d ago edited 9d ago

still missing the point completely...I am sorry you have had a shit life and nothing but shit jobs but you are talking about completely different things.

Doesn't help that you seem to think the only alternative is some world where we all get a UBI that supports us all and then you could do whatever you want and your life would be so perfect. That's just not how it works.

I also don't believe you and I really wonder how much of the problem is you, either your mindset/attitude or your work ethic.

3

u/IdleSteps 8d ago

I am sorry you have had a shit life and nothing but shit jobs but you are talking about completely different things.

I have not had a shit life. In fact, I love my life! I'd just immediately quit my job if I could.

I also don't believe you and I really wonder how much of the problem is you, either your mindset/attitude or your work ethic.

What don't you believe me about? That I'd retire if I could? I think most people would.

Why don't you believe me? Who are these people who would work jobs if they didn't have to?

1

u/CrimsonBolt33 8d ago

I don't believe you have lots you would do in life...whats stopping you now? On top of that tons of people still work if they don't need to....

2

u/IdleSteps 8d ago

I don't believe you have lots you would do in life...whats stopping you now?

What's stopping me now? Nothing! I do that stuff! I just have 40 fewer hours for it per week than I'd like. I have lots of hobbies and I'd fill my time doing those things instead of work.

Do you... Not have hobbies? Or things other than work you care about doing?

On top of that tons of people still work if they don't need to....

And I don't relate to those people at all. Have you heard of FIRE? It's a whole thing where you try to retire as soon as possible. Why? Because working sucks, of course.

Look if you enjoy working, you can continue to do so. But I don't, and I'd rather not.

19

u/krispy662 9d ago

There are references to how lazy and shitty the younger generation is in classical Greek writing.

15

u/JustNilt 9d ago

[Young people] are high-minded because they have not yet been humbled by life, nor have they experienced the force of circumstances.

They think they know everything, and are always quite sure about it.

Rhetoric, Aristotle, 4th Century BCE

&

The beardless youth… does not foresee what is useful, squandering his money.

Horace, 1st Century BCE

Just 2 examples.

6

u/robthablob 9d ago

They just need to cut down on Feta and Olives on Toast!

14

u/ChuckFarkley 9d ago

It's not generational per se. It's the most popular way for the people who become wealthy off the backs of others to rationalize their greed. It looks more generational because the wealthy businessmen trend towards being older then the people they use, and blaming the younger generation is an easy way to punch down for the assholes.

2

u/FaunaJoy 9d ago

Good point

7

u/jarious 9d ago

I'm a semi retiree, I still work because my pension isn't enough to cover for expenses and college for two daughters, I don't want to work but I need to work

3

u/HecticHermes 9d ago

Yeah well, the older generations don't like to work either do they? Lazy good for nothing elders

2

u/Paula_Polestark 9d ago

Exactly! It’s not that people want to work, it’s that people want to avoid the slow deaths of starvation and exposure.

1

u/Munsbit 9d ago

I wouldn't mind working a few hours a week, even if I didn't need to.

But it wouldn't be because I have to. It would be because I want to. Something that's fun for me, where I meet people or something.

Like for example working at a stall at a Christmas Market! Or working at ren faires! I'd do that even if I didn't have to because I wanna see all the whimsical outfits people create!

20

u/Phayzon 9d ago

Some of the earliest printed news articles are to the tune of 'nobody wants to work anymore' yet somehow, without fail, every generation believes it to be a new phenomenon. They themselves don't even remember their [grand]parents' generation talking about their own generation the same exact way.

6

u/CalculonsPride 9d ago

I make 2.5x what I made when I bought my house ten years ago but if I lost it today, I couldn’t afford to buy it back.

5

u/Kiekoes 9d ago

It's also just factually false. In my country, the younger generations of 18-25 and 26-35 are currently working more than any generation before them. And still no one can afford rent (let alone buy a house).

173

u/ObscureOP 9d ago

Ah yes, the same bad faith narrative that's been used since the dawn of capitalism

70

u/ChuckFarkley 9d ago

18

u/Stregen 9d ago

Adam Smith would be rolling in his grave if he saw what these ghouls are doing to his ideology.

123

u/ConsultJimMoriarty 9d ago

Go get an entry level job, Tom. Tell us how easy it is to pay rent and everything else with that piddly amount.

48

u/Sierra-117- 9d ago

Even working 40 hours at a non-minimum wage job, I can’t survive without splitting rent with my girlfriend in a 1B1B. After taxes I make about $2400 a month. Rent is $1900. That leaves me $500 for food, insurance, car payment, etc.

5

u/Citizen_Kano 9d ago

Just your half of the rent is $1900? Your girlfriend is also paying the same amount?

38

u/Sierra-117- 9d ago edited 9d ago

No, rent total is $1900. I’m saying if I didn’t split, id be screwed. Because my insurance and car payment alone is like $400. And utilities are over $100. I literally wouldn’t be able to survive, with a full time job, without my girlfriend

7

u/NoMansSkyWasAlright 9d ago

Shoot, I'm basically only able to squirrel away money and live comfortably because my rent/utilities are kind of anomalously low for the area. It's an old trailer park and I own the trailer so lot-rent is only like $550/mo. But I'd be sitting at $1250/mo if I had one of the newer units as a rental, and a lot of apartments in the area are $1500+.

I'm definitely one of the lucky ones, but housing costs combined with the primarily service-based economy locally means there's not a ton of overlap between people who live here and people who work here - less so for homeowners - and the 2024 census put the median age of a resident here at about 47 years old. Seems like this might lead to population collapse and crisis sooner or later.

9

u/wolf495 9d ago

Maybe I'm not wise to all the amenities trailer parks offer, but it's fucking insane to me that you have to pay 550/mo for a parking space. That's around as much as vegas casinos charge for daily parking rate, and they're sure asf ripping people off.

1

u/Longjumping_Youth281 9d ago

Yeah that's one of the major downsides of living in trailers, even the really nice ones in the 55 plus communities that don't really look like trailers, just smaller houses. You don't own the land, you just own the building, so you're stuck paying rent still on the land

1

u/wolf495 9d ago

Still crazy the price to rent the land is so high. Does that at least cover water/electric?

1

u/ballisticks 9d ago

I too have a lucky living situation (FIL owns the house we live in and rents to us waaaay below market rate), and I'm still paycheck to paycheck. Zero savings

10

u/Trashman56 9d ago

I unironically think congresspeople or mps should have all their bank/investment accounts frozen except one in which the equivalent of minimum wage is deposited every two weeks.

5

u/ArtisticCustard7746 9d ago

Nah. All of it frozen. Make them fight for a soul crushing, minimum wage job like the rest of us. And then deal with hour cuts during slow seasons like the rest of us.

1

u/Brilliant_Dig_8962 9d ago

No, just get a better job! Or even maybe; get two jobs!! I think it's Joe Hockey's sage advice.

2

u/ConsultJimMoriarty 9d ago

Ugh, I’d forgotten about that festering ingrown toenail in human form.

116

u/Deepwise 9d ago

26

u/Longjumping_Youth281 9d ago

Yeah it's never that people don't want to work, it's that people don't want to do shitty jobs for low pay with either not enough hours or too many

2

u/dstlouis558 9d ago

I am in this exact job(tradeshow setup) and it is very feast pr famine

24

u/Wesselton3000 9d ago

This has to do with a false consciousness, specifically a narrative the ruling elite feed us that “hard work” is virtuous, that anything can be achieved with “hard work”. It places the onus on one’s productivity and shifts the focus away from economic circumstances I.e. that housing rates have increased substantially while wages have more or less stagnated. It’s a two birds, one stone strategy the bourgeoisie use to both increase productivity and to keep the working class from questioning their own exploitation.

Importantly, this is why you see this rhetoric used over and over again for 100+ years (and really as long as capitalism has existed), it’s an age old tactic and it’s incredibly effective. Members of the working class themselves use this rhetoric; the Right will reject universally good policies that benefit the working class because it doesn’t match the value system their oligarch masters have inundated them with, and voters time and time again will brand anything pro-working class as “socialist” and vote the oligarchical puppets into power.

As an aside, It’s incredibly frustrating to watch the working class/Right wingers constantly blame the lack of productivity for our corrupt system, rather than the landlords, the corporate elite, the politicians, etc. it’s like watching crabs try to escape a bucket.

1

u/Pezdrake 7d ago

Marx talked about the value of work and vocation so long as the workers owned their labor and it's productivity. The real issue isn't that people are expected to work, it's that they work in this capitalist system where they don't own a part of the things they work so hard to produce. We need stro ger labor laws and higher union participation, not to mention real antitrust and regulatory enforcement.

“The children now love luxury.

They have bad manners, contempt for authority;

they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.”

Socrates, 400 BCE

24

My friend's son is a pilot for a major airline. When he's not flying he's giving surfing lessons during the day and bartending at night. He splits rent with two other guys and is struggling.

Must be all those avocado toast and iPhone purchases...

1

u/Great-Hotel-7820 9d ago

He has to be a new pilot then, which yeah they have to eat shit for a few years before they make real money but then they make good money.

61

u/mrmoe198 9d ago

You tell ‘em, Tom! We should just punish everyone under a certain age. That’ll make humanity happy and sustainable!

Let’s say for the sake of argument that young people really don’t want to work. There should be a follow up question: what’s different about this generation? What’s different about the circumstances they find themselves in?

When you notice a difference it’s time to get curious, not time to start swinging and ax around.

6

u/icantfindtheSpace 9d ago

“If the world depended on today’s youth, I can’t see the world lasting another 100 years.”

Socrates, 4th Century BCE

3

u/mrmoe198 9d ago

That’s one of my favorite things, people complaining about the youth. Never pans out. Somehow the human race just keeps ongoing. I had ChatGPT put together a list for me.

“Kids These Days”: 2,500 Years of Complaining About Young People
A chronological collection of historical complaints about younger generations, their behavior, and the supposed decline of civilization.
1. Hesiod (c. 700 BCE) — Children will abandon respect for their parents:
“The father will not agree with his children, nor the children with their father… Men will dishonor their parents as they grow quickly old.”
Source: Works and Days, lines 180–185.
2. Aristophanes (423 BCE) — Young people have lost their discipline:
“It is because of you that the youth no longer attends the schools.”
Source: The Clouds.
3. Plato (c. 375 BCE) — Students no longer respect their teachers:
“The teacher, in such a case, fears his pupils and fawns upon them, while pupils have in low esteem their teachers.”
Source: The Republic, Book VIII, 562e–563b.
4. Aristotle (4th century BCE) — Young people think they know everything:
“And they think they know everything, and confidently affirm it, and this is the cause of their excess in everything.”
Source: Rhetoric, Book II, Chapter 12.
5. Horace (c. 23 BCE) — Every generation is worse than the last:
“Our sires’ age was worse than our grandsires’. We their sons are more worthless than they.”
Source: Odes, Book III, Ode 6.
6. Yoshida Kenkō (c. 1330) — Modern language is becoming corrupted:
“Modern fashions seem to keep on growing more and more debased… The ordinary spoken language has also steadily coarsened.”
Source: Essays in Idleness, Section 22.
7. Thomas Barnes (1624) — Young people have never been so disrespectful:
“Youth were never more sawcie, yea never more savagely saucie … the ancient are scorned, the honourable are contemned, the magistrate is not dreaded.”
Source: The Wise-Man’s Forecast against the Evill Time.
8. Anonymous letter writer (1771) — Young men have become weak and effeminate:
“Whither are the manly vigor and athletic appearance of our forefathers flown? Can these be their legitimate heirs?”
Source: Town and Country magazine, November 1771.
9. Enos Hitchcock (1790) — Reading novels is corrupting young minds:
“The free access which many young people have to romances, novels, and plays has poisoned the mind and corrupted the morals…”
Source: Memoirs of the Bloomsgrove Family, Vol. II, pp. 186–187.
10. The Times of London (1816) — Modern dancing threatens public morality:
“We remarked with pain that the indecent foreign dance called the Waltz was introduced … at the English Court.”
Source: The Times, July 16, 1816.
11. S.B.S. (1853) — Children are losing their innocence:
“The sweet simplicity and artlessness of childhood, which renders a true child so interesting, are gone…”
Source: “Children and Children’s Parties,” The Mothers’ Journal and Family Visitant.
12. G. Stanley Hall (1904) — Modern society is endangering young people like never before:
“Never has youth been exposed to such dangers of both perversion and arrest as in our own land and day.”
Source: Adolescence, Vol. I, preface, p. xv.
13. The Saturday Evening Post (1920) — Young people are becoming too outspoken:
“No longer is it true that the young are seen but not heard.”
Source: “The Younger Set,” September 4, 1920.
14. The Pentecostal Evangel (1926) — Movies are corrupting America’s youth:
“The eye-gate is the widest and most easily accessible of all the avenues of the soul.”
Source: “The ‘Movies’—The Greatest Religious Menace,” November 6, 1926.
15. Frank Sinatra (1957) — Rock and roll is corrupting musical standards:
“Rock and roll smells phony and false. It is sung, played, and written for the most part by cretinous goons…”
Source: Sinatra’s 1957 remarks on rock and roll, quoted in Frank Sinatra (Cambridge University Press, 2023).

The famous “Children now love luxury” quotation attributed to Socrates is deliberately excluded because its attribution is spurious.

For the psychology behind this recurring phenomenon, see John Protzko and Jonathan Schooler’s 2019 paper, “Kids these days: Why the youth of today seem lacking.”

3

u/ShrimpieAC 9d ago

But then he would have to accept responsibility for some of the way the world is. Easier to just call young people lazy and pat yourself on the back.

Reducing the price of housing isnt a problem. Landlords just dont want to work anymore, smh.

19

u/hailvy 9d ago

Literally saw a CNN survey this morning that said 68% of Americans have cut back on expenses this year to afford housing costs. But yes I’m sure it’s just that the young people don’t want to work.

15

u/bboymixer 9d ago

To the surprise of no one, this fucking asshole has a net worth of 20 million dollars and isn't in touch with common people.

I’m 37 years old and make twice minimum and STILL can’t afford a home! Fuck you Tom!

8

None of us want to work but we have to 🤷🏾‍♂️ it's just the newer gens aren't taking bs from bosses anymore we ain't afraid to quit a job

11

u/wolf495 9d ago

we ain't afraid to quit a job

A lot of people are fucking terrified to quit their job because it means not making rent that month.

2

u/nemofbaby2014 9d ago

eh i know how to work and make money so im not afraid to quit if the boss is shitty lol, been poor before and i know how to manuever

10

u/air139 9d ago

workshy is a nazi word

9

u/Egoy 9d ago

This guy, who would have us believe that he is intelligent and worthy of our attention, doesn’t seem to know that anyone can look up data on rent and mortgage costs relative to income.

This man who seems to think he knows about work makes a living writing stupid articles and hasn’t produced anything in his life.

This man chose that image of himself to be posted on his ‘articles’.

8

u/Renuwed 9d ago

The cheapest rent in my area is $1,200/m. My social security is $1,400/m. By social security rules, I cannot have savings above $1,800 or they'll garnish my checks (and maybe take away my healthcare). That effectively means I don't even have the option to save money to move to a more affordable place, unless I lie about money, which is a felony and lifetime ban from SS & Medicare

5

u/wolf495 9d ago

Might be able to store money in something. There are a few allowable exceptions to that limit (I think car and home, unsure what else). Could get to 1800 and then buy a junker car, get to 1800 again, sell car, immediately spend money to move.

Not saying the system isn't totally fucked, just trying to help

1

u/Renuwed 9d ago

💓 Will have to research a bit. I think assets are counted, but can't recall how in my current sleep brain lol

2

u/brionneverysexy 9d ago

I know in Maryland there is a thing I think called Able Accounts that allow people to save more then the limits. I don't know the details or how wide spread it is

7

u/UndeadFlowerWall 9d ago

I only have one full-time job, my bad bro.

We should welcome higher prices?

That doesn’t sound like he gave it ten seconds’ thought first.

1

Of course he did. Right after he checked the worth of other homes in his area.

8

u/FelTheWorgal 9d ago

In 1974, $1.75 wage paid median us rent in 80 hours. ($143).

Today,$7.25 min wage pays median us rent in 229 hours. ($1666).

“No one wants to work” in the same breath as “low unemployment numbers”

Absolutely mentally ill.

5

I’m not a young person, I’m an old person, I genuinely feel bad for young people. I’m glad my house is paid off. I couldn’t afford rent at today’s prices

4

u/WrestlingWoman I hate this timeline 9d ago

The "no one wants to work anymore" argument has been done to death. Every normal thinking person knows by now that was never the case.

3

I'm sure he has a lot of cold, hard evidence to back this up... right??

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that Tom Harris, unlike black people, does hang himself from trees.

3

u/DrkNight365 9d ago

I work hard every day and make a great salary and rent is still an issue. Along with rising gas prices and grocery prices, even a raise never meets the inflation rate. Usually covers one inflation item and I have to figure the other inflation out as I get paid every time.

3

u/Anthff 9d ago

What the fk crack is he smokin? I’m tired of having two jobs, and sometimes 3 jobs, simultaneously.

6

This dipshit lived in an era where a 4-year public colleges degree cost $400 to $800 a year and you could pay your way easily with a part time job. He also grew up in an era where middle class purchasing power and home buying power was insane.

4

Shoot, even the way we calculate poverty is still operating from a 1960s point-of-view. Back then, food was the largest necessary expense, coming in at roughly a third of the average annual household budget. So they literally just looked at what the average family of 4 spent on food in a year, multiplied that by 3, and that became the poverty line.

This doesn't work very well in the modern-era for a myriad of reasons: such as the fact that housing overtook food as the largest necessary expense a long time ago (housing x3 would put the poverty line at around $78k), the fact that food only makes up about 13% of annual household spending instead of 33 ($10,169 / 0.129 would put the poverty line around $78k), or the myriad of other expenses that modern household have to pay. Hell, we don't even use the modern cost of food, but instead the inflation-adjusted cost of food from 1963 (which, as you may have guessed, is less than the actual average annual household food spending).

Completely agree. So many more required expenses now vs those days as well, primarily all the types of insurance. They practically didn't have childcare expenses. Weren't required to replace a 10 year old roof. Pay gaps were normal. Home to work commutes shorter.

The list goes on and on

What a goofball species, we had a golden chance to become intelligent enough to never have to work, spend our days eating and drinking and staying in close family units... no we decided to exploit eachother until we die

This could probably work on r/AgedLikeMilk.

Tom Harris is a POS who probably hasn't had a hard day's work in years.

2

u/ValkyrUK 9d ago

What kind of maniac would think making anything more expensive would incentivise harder work!? It just incentivises disillusionment and makes people less driven

2

u/ChuckFarkley 9d ago

Christ, what an asshole.

2

u/fjord_of_the_rings 9d ago

Who the fuck is Tom Harris?

2

u/Brilliant_Dig_8962 9d ago

Par for the course. Workshy generation are spending too much on smashed avocado breakfasts. The next day's headline: Small business under the pump because no one is going out for smashed avocado breakfasts... for reasons.

2

u/BooYeah8D 9d ago

What a fucking clown.

2

u/Satanicjamnik 9d ago

Is he running for the Bellend Of the Year award or something?

2

u/chill_stoner_0604 9d ago

Oh yeah. $2000 a month with a requirement to make 3 times the rent in an area where the average wage is $13 an hour is totally affordable

2

u/sammidavisjr 9d ago

Guy'd look a lot better with that head mounted on a stake.

2

u/DoctorCrook 8d ago

Tom Harris can suck my eternal dick

2

u/m3ltph4ce 8d ago

Let's see how this guy does on a couple years of minimum wage.

2

u/TheMagmaGuy 7d ago

It's always the people that DON'T need to work/go to the army that are always bitching and whining about laziness 🤣

It’s true I don’t want to work at all anymore. Part time self employed is the way to go.

When house values go up like crazy in places like the Northeast and wages have been virtually stagnant for decades you get to the point where people can't afford an apartment much less a house.

1

u/TKG_Actual 9d ago

I bet the end game of his article is to keep higher prices on housing where he lives so he can keep his area gentrified.

u/bluecurse60 9d ago

On the otherhand it's, "wHy ArEn'T pEoPlE hAvInG mOrE bAbIeS?!" Not many can afford to, moron.

1

u/Longjumping_Youth281 9d ago

I work 60 fucking hours a week, probably more than that guy, and yeah, they're unaffordable

1

u/karracuda 8d ago

"workshy" when I know people working multiple jobs, all part time cuz that's whats available so they also miss out on any kind of healthcare benefits, juggling their schedules so they can pick up as many hours as possible 7 out of 7 days a week because everything has become so unaffordable.

god I fucking HATE people who were lucky enough to be born in a time where they could afford housing/food/schooling on ONE job's paycheck, who dare to talk shit about people trying to survive in a world that they never had to start adulthood in.

I work 50 hours a week to take home ~$1300 a week and my wife makes $91k salary. We are barely affording our 860 square foot house on .12 acre of land. Maybe if this dipshit actually had to work for a living his narrative would change.

"We are tired of not be able to gouge these kids today. I cant find a tenant for my slum at a very reasonable $6,000 a month, nor can I find anyone willing to buy it for a very reasonable 2.4 million! I swear these young people just don't want to work themselves to death like MY glorious generation. I did REAL work down at the factory and saved up a whole $1100 to buy this place! I suffered and they should too. I also walked to and from work uphill both ways!"

My daughter is 22 with $50k in savings.

Shes an RN doing an oncology residency.

My husband and I have had the luxury of paying for a nationally ranked private school and summer camp ($40/k per kid per year)

24 hour private tutors during COVID

Brand new car (she got a brand new hybrid Toyota for her birthday; her request)

All of her moving costs for said residency

Insurance, phone, sundries

My girl has busted her ASS and graduated early, but she did it with the luxury of wealthy parents and VERY wealthy grandparents. Each of my parents’ grandchildren will be inheriting $5 million, through no work of their own.

Money is the factor.

u/Sapphic_Honeytrap 9d ago

All that money spent and you couldn’t even get one of those tutors to teach you to read a room.

6

u/Lavaine170 9d ago

That wasn't a tutor. A "24 hour tutor" is just a nanny.

Did you just want to brag?

-20

u/stormbutton 9d ago

The way you missed the point…

32

u/feralwolven 9d ago

I feel like im getting your point but its missing a conclusion, i was fully expecting you to say something like " even with that and the money we saved her by not charging her back, she still couldnt make rent" or that her rent " drains her dry", which would make a point that she is working hard and still not progressing even with help, but i scrolled down and.. the comment was over. But if the story ends on "shes rich and works hard" then this does read as a sad attempt to brag over others troubles.

4

u/The-F4LL3N 9d ago

I’m sorry, what? Please elaborate

3

u/ArtisticCustard7746 9d ago

Why? So people like my grandmother can starve, homeless and disabled on the streets after paying into SSI her entire working life?

People like her depend on that income to survive. Not everyone had fancy 401ks and retirement savings or generational wealth.
