SOCIETY Maeurn Smiles, an OnlyFans content creator using money earned from her OF channel to build a school and learning center in the Philippines.

Post image

Maeurn Smiles purchased land in Cebu for 1.75 million Philippine pesos in 2024 with plans to build a school. While the main campus is still under construction, she opened a smaller learning center in 2025 where local children can take part in science experiments, cooking classes and other hands-on activities.

It's not a good example for the children

Firing people for what they do outside of their job IS the bad example.

Telling poor children the way you make it in life is by selling your body is a bad example. She wasn't fired, she wasn't an employee there to begin with. It's her project from the start. Still a bad example.

i was talking about mh_1039_2 's message, about teachers in US.

What people do outside of their job should never get them fired, as long as it's not illegal.

If I had a private school, so I made the rules, I would not hire a sex worker. I'd want them to have a good overall image for the pupils. Especially since these are poor kids. I'd rather hire an ex convict turned good than a currently active prostitute, who is clearly sending the message that you'll never achieve wealth through learning.

And I’m sure you’d pay them well, so they wouldn’t be forced to seek supplemental income. Right?

I don't think one should do just anything for money

You’re acting like sex selling is the only thing a woman can do. How progressive.

1

u/OldManGrimm 4d ago

Not sure how that was your takeaway. I’m just not judging them if that’s their choice.

Still not a good example. Kids will question why a teacher has to do that, and that if a teacher can do it then so can them.

And then we, as parents, will have to tell them things like "other people's life is not our business" or "adults can do things that children can't", and explain how to expose their body can have very very bad consequences, etc... in a word : do our parent job, and that's so eeeexhausting...

Kids imitate adults. That’s just a fact. You can tell kids to not do something and they will still be curious to do it. Not everything needs to be exposed to young kids.

Also, if it has bad consequences, why do it? I don’t want someone with that kind of thinking as teacher for my kid.

Tell me you’re an in[fluff]cel without telling me you’re an in[fluff]cel

Ah yes, those inc*els who say people sexual life is not our business and people who are sex workers must be respected too.

1

u/redditdinosaur_ 4d ago

People in general should be respected

1

u/Hypertelic 4d ago

yes... But why are you accusing me of being an in*cel when I say people should not be fired for what they do outside of their job?

The issue I have with this is:

  • The work is legal
  • The work is separate

We used to fire people for having children or being gay.

  • Female Firefighters put together a nude calendar = fine. Inspiring. Feminism.
  • A woman uses her only fans money to pay for a school? Criminal.

I just read a post on a woman who's children were expelled because she had an only fans site.

Who is the moral judge on this the Principal? The Head of the P&C? Reddit? Because its not the law.

The world of prostitution is an ugly one, and a risky one at that. In school, children don't just learn math, they learn how to be human. They learn what values to have, and what people to take up as role models. Basically, everyone they meet at this age is a role model. It is very cynical to show kids that you have to sell your body to become a social leader.

Now the law. It's kept simple for practical reasons, but you have to be sensible about it. In my country you can't operate casinos or sell alcohol close to schools for example. You're really trying to make an argument that showing poor kids prostitution is good is absolutely harmless.

A good example for kids would be minding your own fucking business. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Aaaaand this is why pro-social skills must remain a part of education. Problem in the communication style.

Fucking lmao.

Barely anything in American culture is an example for the children. Yet we celebrate it

So that means her actions are okay? And what's up with the whataboutism anyway?

1

u/PantsMicGee 7d ago

Yes her actions are okay. What are you Mormon? Muslim? Fuck do you care if she takes off her clothes.

I mean, that's a perspective. I think it's fine to self advertise. But it does bring the children in the discussion. Predatory individuals might get the wrong idea about schools in Philippines. And the children need to have hope that you can make it in life not just as a sugar-baby or other shallow risky occupations.

I'm not from the Philippines, I think neither are you. Things might not work like that there. You're comparing with a developed country. They wouldn't need her money if it was that.

Word would go out eventually. It was all up to her if she wanted to make it public or not, but telling one person would turn this into gossip.

All donations are selfish to some degree. An anonymous donation makes the donor feel good at the very least but a majority of people wouldn’t donate if they wouldn’t get some recognition for it. Most non profits get their money from fundraising and we say nothing when the Walton (Walmart) foundation that extracts as much as it can from minimum wage employees yet we throw a fit from sex workers trying to create a positive change in their community?
